Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Going onto the Roof to Remove Tiles

Following Sisi through the endless flower field, Yang Yu arrived at the castle where the fairies resided.

Surrounded by green grass, the castle was magnificent, adorned with shining glazed tiles. The fairy banners fluttered gently in the breeze, each element refined and delicate.

However, Yang Yu and his companions could not enter the castle to further explore its exquisite design.

Why, you ask? Because the size of this castle was the same height as them. The castle didn’t seem like an architect had spent great effort to build it, but more like a sand sculptor had piled it up in a few days, before some color specialist randomly brushed on some paint.

Compared to this tiny castle, Yang Yu and his companions seemed like giant monsters from outer space.

If the fairies had built their walls a bit higher, they might have been able to hide behind them, slowly peering out, and recall the fear of being dominated by giants.

”Wait here for a moment, I’ll go report to His Majesty the King right now. Remember, do not lay a hand on our castle! The humans who came before touched our castle non-stop because it was so pretty, and carelessly poked a big hole in it. It took us a lot of time to fix, and we don’t want to see such a tragedy happen again.”

Pushing open the grand doors of the castle, Sisi repeatedly reminded Yang Yu and the others not to touch anything. With such a beautiful castle within reach, without restraint, who wouldn’t want to touch it?

But human strength was far too powerful for this castle.

An ordinary person could easily dismantle our painstakingly built castle, leaving nothing behind.

Therefore, whenever humans came here, Sisi would remind them time and time again: admire from a distance, but do not play with it.

”We swear we won’t touch anything.”

Yang Yu and his companions casually promised as they sat down on the grass surrounding the castle, and only then did Sisi clumsily fly into the castle.

In the flower field not far from the castle, numerous fairies hid beneath the branches, cautiously poking their heads out and scrutinizing the visitors’ every move. When Yang Yu turned his head, these fairies hurriedly pulled down petals to conceal their presence.

From time to time, humans were sent here to help reinforce the Sealing Barrier, to prevent the leakage of darkness.

Protected by the Fairy Barrier, the envoys from the Library were mostly different, inevitably arousing the curiosity of some fairies.

But no fairy dared to contact humans on their own; humans were too dangerous, and fairies might accidentally be squashed like slightly larger insects.

Time passed, and after about fifteen minutes.

The tightly shut castle doors slowly opened, a bundle of light rushed out first, standing to one side of the door, followed by another ray of light flying out from within.

The light rose slowly and flew to a position parallel with Yang Yu’s line of sight. The appearance of the fairy became gradually clearer to everyone.

It was an extremely cute fairy with golden short hair and green eyes, just like a prince from a fairy tale.

Unfortunately, this prince was too delicate, destined to never become the sweetheart of most princesses’ dreams.

Without any music or ceremony, the King of the Fairyland appeared before Yang Yu just like that.

”Human from the Library, nice to meet you for the first time. My name is Kaka Rote, I am the King of the Fairyland, and on behalf of all fairies, I welcome you.”

Kaka Rote, the name suggested he should be quite formidable, on par with King Frieza, but then why did he appear so feeble?

Noticing the thin bandage wrapped around Kaka’s right hand and the indescribable melancholy on his face, Yang Yu knew that even this fairy king, with a Level over fifty, had suffered under the influence of darkness.

Beyond that, Yang Yu had noticed that Kaka, facing the distant ”Savior,” seemed to lack enthusiasm, as though all of this were just a matter of routine.

And no wonder.

Even if the Sealing were to be completed this time, driving Darkness underground, if the root of the problem were not addressed, Darkness would surely rise again.

It was understandable that his enthusiasm wasn’t high.

In fact, Kaka had proposed step-by-step plans for tackling the Darkness to the humans dozens of times but was repeatedly refused by the upper echelons of the Library with the rationale, ”The Darkness underground is simply too dangerous. With our current strength, it is very difficult to completely eradicate it. If something goes wrong, it could imperil the very existence of the Library.”

The Library’s stance was that maintaining the current situation was for the best.

Magic was making continuous progress, and if they could just drag things out, someday, the very Darkness that was now an obstacle would be easily resolved by more advanced magic.

There was some sense in this.

But as the years went by, the Library’s research on Darkness seemed to have made no headway.

And the Darkness beneath the ground was growing stronger as time went on.

Now it was still suppressible, but later... later it was uncertain.

Previously, when Kaka contacted the Library’s higher-ups, he also presented this view, but sadly, he still couldn’t convince them. They insisted that ”magic grows by a foot, and the path by an ell,” and remained adamant that only by thoroughly studying this Darkness could they find a solution.

So, from the beginning, Kaka harbored no expectations that Yang Yu could truly resolve the issues of Fairyland.

In his view, Yang Yu had come here simply to drive all the Darkness underground, reinforce the Sealing, and then wash his hands of the matter and leave.

...just like before.

The one thing that took Kaka by surprise was that he had not expected the humans to arrive so swiftly. In the past, humans would lend their aid only when their Barrier was on the verge of collapsing.

But now, less than a day after establishing the Sealing Barrier, someone from the Library had appeared before him.

”Your Majesty the King, it is my honor to meet you. I am not one for beating around the bush, so I’ll just speak plainly. Actually, I am not a Mage affiliated with the Library.”

Yang Yu looked earnest, without a trace of deceit, causing Kaka to widen his eyes in disbelief, while his lightly flapping wings became erratic with emotion.

Upon reflection, whenever the Library had previously sent someone over, they would always notify him in advance to prepare...

But this time, there was no such notice, which was quite peculiar.

Moreover, those sent by the Library to carry out the Sealing occasionally acted as if they were in a dream, capriciously and with relaxed expressions on their faces.

Whereas Yang Yu was forthright and had shown him the basic respect due.

Which meant... it truly was possible...

Kaka became instinctively guarded, ”Are you telling the truth? Are you really not a Magician from the Library? Then how do you know that the All Things Library is a joint operation between us and the humans? What exactly do you intend to do!”

Seeing this reaction, Yang Yu smiled slightly and said,

”If I really wanted to do something, I would have already acted. We have reasons for appearing here. If you make wise use of us, perhaps we can help you completely eliminate the Darkness and free the Fairy race from the troubles of Darkness forever.”
