Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Let Me Try Again

As Yang Yu pondered how to attack in order to safely capture the black snake, he heard Kaka’s voice.

”Go find its Core. Its Core is my corrupted kin. The Core is hidden somewhere within these monsters’ bodies, and only by continuously attacking can it be found. As long as the Core is constrained, it won’t be able to use the Black Energy to continuously regenerate!”

Having said that, Kaka continued to concentrate on dealing with the black mongoose in front of him.

He dodged the mongoose’s dense tearing attacks while ceaselessly creating Light Blades, searching for gaps to slice the mongoose’s body in search of the Core.

Suddenly, Kaka’s Light Blade touched something hard inside the mongoose.

”At last, I’ve found it. This is the Core!”

Kaka’s heart leapt with joy as he drastically focused his scattered Light Blades on the black sphere within the mongoose, radiating a faint glow, pouring his Magic Power into it.

Under the urging of countless Light Blades, the mongoose that had its Core touched could no longer maintain its form and turned into a mass of eerie Black Energy.

The Black Energy looked like countless Iron Shavings dancing in the air, with the Core acting like a magnet, constantly directing the Black Energy to gather.

If the Black Energy truly were to gather together again, a new black mongoose would be reborn.

Kaka brought his palms together, then opened them to the left and right, creating a four-sided cage of light between his hands; with a gentle push forward, the cage covered the black Core.

The Black Energy floating outside could not penetrate the cage to contact the Core no matter how it tried, and would dissipate on its own before long.

Thinking this, Kaka went to assist Yang Yu, but the black mist, as if receiving some command, surged toward the bandaged hand of Kaka.

The other Black Energy spreading around the hospital followed suit as if under command, all flowing towards Kaka’s injured arm.

Even the black snake that had been confronting Yang Yu changed its target and headed for Kaka’s bandaged hand.

”Bai Jin, Iyas, restrain!”

Upon receiving the command, Iyas drew her bow, and a golden arrow flew across the sky, pinning the black snake to the ground.

But the snake tore its body in half in its desperation to continue its rush toward Kaka.

Bai Jin’s Frost Ice Arrow followed closely and struck the snake’s head, instantly turning the snake’s head into Black Energy, which continued to drift toward Kaka’s arm.

Running towards Kaka, Yang Yu tried to swing a sword at the Black Energy, but his blade passed right through it.

Quite troublesome—this Black Energy, either immune to Physical Attacks or inherently untargetable.

Was he truly forced to watch helplessly as the Black Energy corrupted Kaka?

For now, Yang Yu did not know how to seal the black bubble, and if Kaka were consumed by the Darkness, the task at hand would become difficult to continue.

”Open the cage!”

Yang Yu shouted to Kaka, who quickly made a gesture to release the magic.

The cage shattered instantly, the black Core pulsated as if breathing fresh air, and the Black Energy flowing toward Kaka stopped abruptly, re-converging around the black Core to form an even larger mongoose than before.

It kept growling, seemingly enraged by Kaka’s actions, swearing to make Kaka and Yang Yu pay as it roared, howled, and with a wail, it struck at Kaka with its claw.

Yang Yu stepped in front of Kaka, raising a Shield to launch ”Shield Block,” stopping the mongoose’s attack, then he pulled out another sword from the System, piercing through the mongoose’s body, accurately and precisely stabbing through the mongoose’s Core.

Despite Yang Yu’s wish to capture the monster’s Core as Kaka had suggested, if they continued to be entangled in such a manner, even if they managed to defeat the mongoose and the viper time and time again, the creatures would undoubtedly be reborn and attack them again.

Even after the Sealing was implemented, the Core seemed to still manipulate the Black Energy that composed its body to attack Kaka. Kaka had been infected and corrupted by the Black Energy before, and the infected part of his body seemed to become the means for the Core to locate him.

If indeed the Black Energy could be controlled by the Core to seek out the location of the infected through the marked areas and to implement a deeper infection, that would be catastrophic.

Thus, Yang Yu made a decisive decision to let the Darkness return to its original place, and then precisely locate the Core in the order of the Darkness condensation to deliver a fatal blow.

For enemies with a Core like this one, only by completely destroying the Core could they ensure the enemy’s thorough demise.

Even if the Corruptor’s HP were reduced to zero, it was highly probable that only the Core would be exposed, and if not promptly cleared away, the Black Energy would inevitably attach to the Core and regenerate, becoming a stronger enemy.

Therefore, Yang Yu had always been focusing on the Core, and in the moment the mongoose gained greater Strength, believing it to be invincible, he struck it dead in one hit.

The Core shattered, and the mongoose’s tangible body instantly crumbled to dust, transforming into clumps of Black Energy that floated upwards.

A pale Fairy fell from within, his face already void of color, and on his thin wings, cracks spread continuously until they eventually broke into countless points of light.

Kaka flapped his wings and flew over, opening his arms to catch the elf, but before the elf landed in his hands, it turned into countless specks of light, gradually dissipating into the air.

”Don’t blame me! This was the best solution I could think of.”

Yang Yu’s face was serious as he looked toward another serpent planning to devour the Black Energy to strengthen itself,

”Rather than that, I think you should be more concerned about what’s in front of you. Now it’s the viper’s turn to try to absorb the Black Energy to augment itself. What should we do, should we try to control the Core again? Maybe this one is different from the other.”

Watching the specks of light in his hand completely vanish, Kaka bit his lip tightly, not allowing tears to escape.

He had actually anticipated such an outcome, but when it truly happened, he could only blame his own powerlessness.

The Darkness coming from the depths this time was more ferocious than ever before.

The Corruptor Fairies were different now...

At first, the Corruptor Fairies weren’t too aggressive, and as long as one kept a certain distance from them, one wouldn’t be attacked.

But the Fairies, from infection to transformation and finally to corruption, were completely different in the end.

At that time, he had heard it—heard the voice of the Corruptor, the voice of his subordinate—Keke.

Generally, Fairies who had been corrupted wouldn’t be able to hear their voices again, but when confronting Keke, Kaka clearly heard Keke’s voice.

”How I hate, how I hate this world. Why did I ever harbor hope for it? Wouldn’t it have been better just to let it be destroyed?”

It was upon hearing this that Kaka hesitated for a moment while performing the Core Sealing, allowing the Core to escape, transforming back into a huge bear, and injuring his arm.

In the end... he could only bear the pain and completely destroy the Core containing Keke...

The feeling of dealing with one’s own subordinates was hard to bear, especially those he had worked closely with.

That’s why Kaka tried again to perform Core Sealing, hoping to preserve the corrupted Cores for a period of time, place them at a specific location for observation, and long for the birth of a new Cleaner, hoping that even one of them could return.

However, all these were but his illusions, and many had ultimately not returned from their Despair.

But even so...

”Please, Human, let me try once more; if it doesn’t work, then destroy it...”
