Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 230: Chapter 230: If I Don’t Enter Hell, Who Will?

Upon hearing this news, Kaka was shocked beyond belief. He had never expected that the Cleaners, who he thought would never fall into ”Darkness” again, had yet again succumbed and turned into Corruptors.

Such a development meant that they could no longer use the Cleaners to investigate the true nature behind the ”Darkness.”

Just when they were getting a bit closer to the truth, it seemed as though fate had dealt them a harsh blow.

”The stronger the Fairy, the more powerful they become as a Corruptor after being tainted. Keke’s strength is unparalleled, and upon being corrupted into a shadow, hardly anyone can deal with her. I have no choice, I must take action myself.”

Just as Kaka took a step forward, Sisi grabbed his arm,

”His Majesty the King, you mustn’t do that. If you come into contact with the corrupted shadow, it’s very likely that you’ll be infected too!”

”If I don’t enter Hell, who will? If I don’t stop it, more of our kin will fall victim to this Darkness, and eventually, it will be my turn.”

Pushing Sisi’s hand away, Kaka, with a resolute look, flew towards the direction from whence the sound originated.

...

Meanwhile.

Under the scorching sun, the press conference organized by Yang Yu finally began.

The journalists present outnumbered half of those from the Library Newspaper, gathering at the park entrance, sealing it off completely.

Tico, Keke Ai, and Emily were already there.

Emily, using Magic, conjured chairs for the arriving journalists to sit down, then she brought out tables and sound amplification tools, ready to address the journalists’ questions.

Yang Yu, along with his team, arrived fashionably late.

Upon seeing Yang Yu, the journalists were as if injected with excitement, almost jumping off their chairs and running towards him to question him directly. However, upon seeing Emily’s extremely gentle gaze, they instantly dismissed the idea.

People say he is here to solve problems; rushing up now would just be disrespectful and ignorant, likely resulting in Emily tossing them out by their collars.

Gracefully navigating through the crowd of journalists, Yang Yu joined Tico and the others by the table and immediately began dispelling the rumors.

Having Emily, the Library Elder there, the style of the journalists’ questions softened a great deal, mainly revolving around the authenticity of the rumors circulating, and whether there was an unspeakable relationship between Yang Yu and Tico.

Unexpectedly to Yang Yu, Tico’s mother was exceptionally cooperative, even taking the initiative to verbally reproach a journalist who was intentionally misinterpreting things to fish for more information.

”Whether you are journalists is not for me to judge. Since you want to publish articles in the Library Newspaper, you should be mentally prepared to be responsible for every word you say. If there’s any misinterpretation or if you disregard the truth and say something that could cause misunderstanding, I wouldn’t mind inviting you over for tea to discuss this further.”

Her gentle words concealed a threat, and many journalists, seeing this, immediately retracted their speculative thoughts and silently took notes.

They knew they couldn’t afford to sensationalize the relationship between Yang Yu and Tico anymore; they had to report the truth as it was.

With Emily and Keke Ai by his side, the press conference went smoothly for Yang Yu, even if Tico was a bit underwhelming.

However, when it came to the final question phase, the journalists, originally there to verify the rumors, began asking about the incidents that occurred earlier in the morning.

Since the relationship between Yang Yu and Tico was clear and backed by Emily, there was no need to focus on the rumors anymore; it would be fruitless. So, they directed their questions towards the events of that morning.

Many journalists, though they had been at the scene, hadn’t witnessed Yang Yu’s imposing manner.

Some journalists, upon hearing that the law enforcement team had arrived, didn’t bother going; they also hadn’t anticipated that Yang Yu, who had made a round at the Judgement Court, would simply return, unable to contain his curiosity.

Yang Yu looked helpless.

How quickly you journalists change your tune! Considering all my efforts so far, anytime there’s bigger news, you lose interest in my relationship with Tico and jump straight to other news.

While he thought this, Yang Yu was still more than happy to answer the journalists’ questions, after all, it was a rare opportunity to boost his reputation.

The journalist’s enthusiasm towards Yang Yu alone gave Emily the wrong impression that Tico was only rumored to be involved with Yang Yu due to their acquaintance.

Ever since Emily heard about the connection between Yang Yu and her daughter, she had been investigating Yang Yu.

The more she found out, the more incredulous she became. Now, hearing Yang Yu recount the events of early morning in front of everyone, admiration once again appeared in her eyes.

In her lifetime, this was the first time she had seen someone daring to openly confront the law enforcement team.

The Library’s law enforcement team wielded considerable power; generally, people would be apprehensive in their presence, giving them a wide berth.

But Yang Yu not only showed no fear but also confidently stood his ground, appropriating public opinion with ease and putting the law enforcement team at a disadvantage, to the point where even the Judgement Chief had to make concessions.

At such a young age, to have this kind of mindset, Emily increasingly felt that Yang Yu was simply the perfect son-in-law.

In contrast... Beyond being skilled in Magic, Tico seemed terribly weak in other areas.

When the bill for the dormitory damages was sent to Tico’s house, Emily nearly spat out blood.

Tico, can’t you be more composed? Why must you destroy a dormitory painstakingly built by others? Think about it, shouldn’t there be a better way to resolve issues? Why must you add to my troubles? Don’t you know that, as a parent, I now have to write a letter of reflection!

If Yang Yu had been by her side, he probably would have thought of a better approach rather than letting this child act recklessly.

The higher Emily regarded Yang Yu, the more she felt it was a pity.

Such a wonderful man, if it were her younger self, she might have fallen for him early on.

But Tico didn’t appreciate him at all, even warning me not to meddle in her and Yang Yu’s affairs, repeatedly emphasizing that their relationship was merely that of an idol and a fan.

Just an idol and a fan relationship?

Emily had never thought so.

After multiple conversations with Yang Yu, combined with Tico’s own accounts, Emily speculated on why Yang Yu considered Tico as an idol.

Either he was simply afraid of Tico lashing out at him, or he was playing a much bigger game.

Emily leaned towards the latter, strong indications suggested that Yang Yu’s considerations were far more complex than imagined.

Likely, befriending Tico was just one part of his plan.

What exactly was he aiming for, and how did he plan to execute his strategy?

About these matters, Emily had no clue.

But the more she pondered, the longing for the unknown drove her to want to understand the developments even faster.
