Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 216: Chapter 216 I’m Really Her Fan

Setting down her teacup, Emily did not intend to beat around the bush and went straight to the point.

”Everything that’s being said outside, I have heard it all, and you should take responsibility for my daughter, shouldn’t you?”

”Lady Mother, hear me out, this is all just a misunderstanding, what you think is going on between him and me is not what you think it is.”

When faced with Keke Ai before, Tico was of no use, swayed easily by her words. She did not want to repeat the same mistake, so when she saw her own mother, she got straight to the point, making her stance clear.

Yang Yu did not dislike this direct approach; he had indeed wanted Tico to broach the subject first. With Tico taking initiative, it spared him the unnecessary roundabout speech.

However, relying on Tico alone would be insufficient to handle the formidable presence of Emily, and it would take his personal involvement to secure the situation, with an inside-outside strategy.

”The kind of relationship you’re thinking of? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what I imagine.”

Emily smiled faintly, her smile full of a depth that was hard to discern,

”Tico, I’ve watched you grow up since you were little, and no one understands you better than I do, nor does anyone know better what you are currently lacking. You are still too naive, naive to the point where you cannot see the world clearly. It’s a rare opportunity to grow, and I do not want you to let it pass by.”

”Lady Mother, please don’t keep treating me like a child. Besides, how is this any sort of opportunity to grow?”

”That’s because you are indeed too naive and cannot see the kind of growth I’m talking about. Listen to me, and you will grow up mentally and physically in a short time.”

”I knew you still considered me a child, but I am an adult, and I know what growth is!”

Tico wanted to say more, but Yang Yu raised his hand to stop her,

”Lady Tico, let me handle it here. If I had noticed sooner that day, it might not have developed to this point.”

Although Tico wanted to clarify the relationship between her and Yang Yu as soon as possible, relying solely on her own life experience, she feared she’d only get convinced by her mother and make matters even more complicated.

In the end, she had to rely on Yang Yu, whose life experience was much richer than hers.

”I’m sorry, I couldn’t be of help again.”

”No, Lady Tico, you’ve already been a great help, and later, I might still need your assistance.”

Saying that, Yang Yu took a few steps forward, coming before Emily. Out of courtesy, Emily used magic to pull out a chair for Yang Yu, inviting him to sit.

”If you could tell me, what would your answer be to the earlier question?”

In the face of the gaze Emily cast, Yang Yu leisurely took his seat, but instead of answering her question, he asked her one,

”You’re already aware that the rumors circulating outside are all false, correct?”

With a hint of unfathomable depth in her eyes, Emily did not conceal her thoughts,

”Of course I know they are false, Tico has grown up under my eyes, if she were really involved with some unknown man, I would have noticed.

And, considering how outrageous the rumors are, how could I easily believe them? However, I think the article in the Library Newspaper is not entirely fabrications.”

Hearing Emily say this, Keke Ai, who had been brought here forcibly, couldn’t help but smile.

But it was not because Emily would defend her article, it was to see how this man would choose to act amid this situation.

To see how this man’s cunning and well-informed nature, as a member of the Library Elders’ Council, would collide and what kind of sparks it would ignite.

Even I could discern the signs, the more competent and knowledgeable Elder Emily would surely recognize much more.

Before this formidable opponent, could you maintain your composure and carry out your plans as before?

Truly a sight to look forward to.

Catching a glimpse of Keke Ai’s schadenfreude expression, Yang Yu inwardly shook his head; she still needed some teaching, obviously.

”That was just an article written by a young girl violating Library rules for her own benefit and acting recklessly; it’s not worth mentioning. Rather, it’s surprising that you took everything in it at face value, madam.”

”The thing they call rumors, they do have a source. As for such rumors about the two of you, you should give it some thought.”

”That’s some flawless logic, if you go by that, I could write an article right now about how you are involved with this reporter here, publish it in the Library Newspaper for everyone to see, and after, I’d say that such rumors arose because you’re really having an affair with her, how would you feel about that? Fabricating a rumor that seems credible isn’t a difficult task.”

Yang Yu’s excellent rebuttal, made Emily reassess him,

”Well then, how would you explain this? Ever since my daughter met you, she seems distracted, constantly looking at the gift you gave her. If I didn’t stop her, she’d probably wear that dress all day, never taking it off.

Speaking of your gift, don’t find me rude, but I think the dress you gave her is too revealing. If the sleeves were a bit longer, I might accept such style.”

Usually, shouldn’t the dress be longer? And it’s not that I haven’t seen some of you wear short sleeves; being so conservative about the sleeves is quite a surprise.

But then, thanks to you for not letting Tico run around in a sailor suit; otherwise, the rumors might be even more rampant than now.

Yang Yu did not voice his internal critique and explained nonchalantly, ”I don’t think this indicates anything. Madam, you have lived for a few decades after all, and might not understand the sentiments of our generation.

Our generation, when faced with something we like, tend to show it without apprehension, just like when I first saw Lady Tico, I was almost too excited to speak, wishing I could gaze at her portrait for twenty-four hours.

But I can assure you, it is definitely not love but admiration from the bottom of my heart.

As for Lady Tico being fond of my gift, that’s because she seems to have never been adored by a fan. To have a fan like me was special and thus cherished.

I think, even if it weren’t me, as long as someone became her fan and gifted her something, she would also treasure it greatly. Isn’t that right, Lady Tico?”

Being suddenly addressed, Yang Yu expected an affirmative answer from Tico, however...

”I think, it would be the same. Even if the first fan wasn’t Yang Yu, as long as he gave me a gift, I probably would treasure it.”

Tico’s answer became ambiguously suggestive, leaving Yang Yu speechless.

Hey, Lady Tico! I was trying to give you a chance to shine, and your response is all vague like that, give me some conviction in your tone!
