Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 241: Chapter 241: Oozing Petroleum from the Body

Ignoring the mongoose’s warnings, Kaka flew low towards the hospital where many fairies were still infected by the darkness. As their king, Kaka couldn’t just abandon them.

Bringing his hands together, the light swirling around Kaka suddenly expanded, forming a halo of countless golden shards, encircling him like an asteroid belt.

Seeing that Kaka wasn’t retreating but advancing instead, the black mongoose let out an angry roar and leaped down from the hospital rooftop, lunging at Kaka with its sharp claws.

The mongoose’s sharp claws collided with the halo, and the golden shards, like numerous sharp blades, disintegrated the mongoose’s hands into pieces.

Realizing something was amiss, the mongoose used its tail, which had landed on the ground, like a spring to bounce backwards, making an effort to escape out of the halo’s range.

The mongoose landed on the grass next to the hospital, warily watching Kaka’s every move, as the black energy surrounding the hospital gradually moved towards its wounds, regenerating the forepaws that had been shattered by the halo.

Meanwhile, the forepaw fragments that Kaka’s halo had dissolved transformed into black energy and joined the pervasive darkness around the hospital.

The black energy converted into physical forms, and the shattered entities reverted into black energy, alternating endlessly.

Even if one wanted to reduce some parts of its body to decrease its combat abilities, it was simply not possible.

Yang Yu didn’t rush to make a move; instead, he observed the black mongoose’s every action. Kaka had reduced the black mongoose’s blood volume by half, but as soon as the black energy gathered on the mongoose, the damage caused by Kaka was significantly negated.

Fortunately, the black mongoose still lost nearly a tenth of its blood volume. As long as continuous effective damage could be applied, they could subdue the mongoose.

Kaka flapped his wings, and the shards of light around him instantly solidified into dazzling light blades, slashing at the mongoose like raindrops.

The black mongoose stretched out its forepaws, and its sharp claws suddenly lengthened a bit, making a wild scrambling attack, bam, blocking the attacks of the Fairy King.

Opening the system, Yang Yu continued to monitor the status of the two.

As the Fairy King, Kaka possessed a level over fifty, but his specific attributes didn’t exceed those of the Corruptor by much, making for a destined prolonged struggle in single combat.

If Yang Yu intervened, he was confident he could easily defeat the black mongoose.

Although the black mongoose seemed like an immovable mountain to Kaka, to Yang Yu, it was no different from a regular house cat.

For such a weak mongoose, Yang Yu felt he could take on ten at once, but only ten at most.

With too many cats, Yang Yu also found it troublesome, likely ending up with a face full of scratches leaving indelible scars.

Since the opponent was so weak, Yang Yu naturally wouldn’t pass up this opportunity to show off his strength to the Fairy King; without a second word, he pulled a sword and shield from the system, finally deciding to intervene.

Yang Yu hadn’t even taken a step when he heard Kaka’s voice.

”I can handle it by myself, no need for your help right now. Before he was corrupted, he was one of us too. As their king, it’s my responsibility and duty to carry out the rescue. If absolutely necessary, eradicating them is also my responsibility and duty.”

Before Kaka finished speaking, another sticky black liquid smashed a hospital window.

This viscous liquid initially resembled a fairy, looking around everywhere.

But soon, blackness burst forth from his body like oil, swallowing up the last traces of his fairy-like appearance, completely transforming into an unidentifiable black slime.

Afterward, the black ”Slime” underwent a severe transformation and astonishingly turned into a black snake.

”It’s unbelievable... unbelievable that two people simultaneously transformed from a mutated state to Corruptors...”

Kaka, incredulous, knew that normally, after the infected were sent to the hospital, the progression of their condition would slow down significantly, greatly reducing the speed of corruption, allowing any tendencies to become Corruptors to be identified and isolated in time.

However, there had been a case of rapid corruption not long ago.

And now two more had occurred; it was all too abnormal.

The black snake had just finished transforming when it bit at Kaka, while a mongoose launched an attack, pouncing towards Kaka.

Kaka flapped his wings trying to escape, but the snake and mongoose were too large, practically blocking every escape route he took, leaving him with no way out.

Fortunately, Yang Yu reacted quickly, kicking the snake away, then, like a savior, he swung a shield at the mongoose’s face, arriving in front of Kaka.

”It seems you can’t handle two Corruptors at once. Talking about responsibility and duty now is foolish. Count me in.”

The crisis temporarily averted, Kaka breathed a sigh of relief.

Indeed, as Yang Yu had said, fighting alone like this would definitely put him at a great disadvantage, so now he could only agree to let Yang Yu join the fight midway.

But before that...

Looking at the snake and mongoose not far off, Kaka’s eyes filled with indescribable turmoil.

”Try not to kill them, try to subdue them. Even if they’ve turned into that, there’s still a possibility to revert, he’s my kin. Even if they can’t revert, I should be the one to deliver the final blow.”

”Capture them alive? Should’ve said so earlier, no problem.”

Yang Yu waved to Iyas and Bai Jin, who were approaching slowly from behind, signaling them to enter combat mode and follow his orders.

Then, Yang Yu charged towards the snake while leaving the mongoose to Kaka.

Iyas and Bai Jin naturally joined the battle—Yang Yu first had Bai Jin use the Ice Cone Skill to control, then had Iyas execute a normal attack.

The arrows whooshed towards the snake’s vital points; the black python twisted its body frantically, miraculously avoiding Iyas’s arrows and lunged at Yang Yu.

Yang Yu didn’t dodge but instead lowered his center of gravity and delivered an uppercut to the snake’s chin, lifting the black python high into the air, then he slashed it at its vitals with his sword.

The black snake split in two from the middle, its severed tail part turning into black energy.

This black energy swept towards Yang Yu, who agilely dodged, only to discover that it unexpectedly transformed back into the snake’s half-body and wrapped around his arm.

The snake’s head in the air, as if drawn by some force, connected with the half-body on Yang Yu’s arm and writhed towards his neck.

Yang Yu quickly raised his shield to execute a ”Shield Counter,” causing the python’s sharp fangs to bite into the hefty shield. Then, he discarded the sword in his hand, seized the black snake’s body, and swung it down hard, smashing the black snake’s head onto the grass.

With the impact, the snake’s coiling strength lessened, allowing Yang Yu to pull his hand free from the snake’s wrap, regaining his freedom.
