Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 211: Chapter 211: Soaring Straight Up Ninety Thousand Li

All Things Library District, Keke Ai rented a small cottage—it was a bit tiny, but the cramped space did not add any pressure on her. On the contrary, the tranquil atmosphere, undisturbed by others, allowed her to concentrate on her writing.

After two busy days, Keke Ai had gathered quite a bit of material for news stories. Although none of them were major news, they were full of novelty and only needed a bit of editing, with some interesting additions, before she could contribute them to the editorial department of the Library Newspaper.

Sitting at her desk, Keke Ai took out sheet after sheet of pristine paper and started to draft her articles.

It was basic common sense among reporters of the Library Newspaper that casting a wide net was the way to earn more contribution points and lead a better life.

Keke Ai also hunted across different sections, collecting a wide range of materials and diversifying her investments. It was by this method that she had smoothly become a Star-level Member of the Library.

Her pen flying across the paper, Keke Ai soon finished a piece and took out a file folder to neatly store her organized articles, placing it to one side.

Articles without explosive points like this one had no chance of becoming the Library’s headline.

In fact, she did not have any headline-worthy news at hand.

The scrutinous review process for headlines by the Library Newspaper was extremely stringent. In the three years since Keke Ai became a reporter, including the special issues, the Newspaper had published nearly two hundred editions, yet the number of times Keke Ai’s articles made the headlines could be counted on one hand.

Until today, there had only been four times.

If another person who could shock everyone in the Library, like Yang Yu, could emerge, perhaps she would have another shot at writing a headline story, but... such an opportunity was not something one could seek out on a whim.

Every time Keke Ai recalled Yang Yu, she couldn’t help but get irritated, and the speed of her writing inadvertently slowed down.

She had clearly had the chance to write an exclusive piece and land the Library’s headline. When she saw Yang Yu, she even came up with the headline, ”Mysterious youngster easily trounces all opponents in the test, even declaring that none within the Library could stand against him.” But all that got botched by Yang Yu’s cluelessness and his thick-headedness.

I’m acting so sneakily, obviously trying to interview you discreetly. How can you loudly say it out like that? Where am I supposed to put my face?

Keke Ai was still dwelling on the events from a few days ago.

If Yang Yu had been considerate and calmly communicated with her, she would have secured the last issue’s headline long ago and would not have written that kind of article for publication in the Library Newspaper.

If one had to say, writing that piece of gossip was purely accidental.

Keke Ai had waited in the Guild for so long without eating. In order to soothe her fragmented heart, she chose a restaurant she didn’t usually visit and happened to bump into Yang Yu and Tico sharing a table.

At first, Keke Ai was thrilled to see Yang Yu and was eager to rush up and ask for clarity, but as soon as she stepped forward, she remembered everything that had happened at the Guild and immediately calmed down.

If she approached Yang Yu again, who knew what might happen.

In the end, Keke Ai chose to quietly eavesdrop on their conversation, searching for an explosive news angle.

Indeed, Keke Ai learned quite a bit from what Yang Yu said, but such information was only supplementary and could not make it onto the front page.

Things like being in good relationship with a top chef of a certain country or discovering unprecedented treasures in a labyrinth, might seem like good news to ordinary people, but to a reporter like Keke Ai, they were as worthless as garbage.

Nowadays, who cares about such mundane and ordinary things? Writing about this wouldn’t just be for the readers’ sake. It wouldn’t even pass the editor’s desk.

So, Keke Ai decisively shifted her angle and emphasized on the intimate interactions between Yang Yu and Tico, exaggerating their relationship beyond truth.

Of course, her writing wasn’t baseless.

Tico’s ordinary and joyful smile at Yang Yu was more telling than any evidence could be.

Originally, she had written casually, but unexpectedly, that piece managed to get through so smoothly...

Indeed, keeping up with hot topics was the way to get traffic.

But when everyone flocks to the same hot topic, the competition becomes tougher. Without a notable angle, articles with the same content can receive drastically different treatment based on slight differences in writing style.

To avoid competing with colleagues who had brilliant writing skills, Keke Ai had chosen to try her luck in the District.

And the fact proved that her decision was right.

After finishing another piece and tucking it into the file folder, Keke Ai pulled out a new sheet of paper. She formed thoughts in her mind first, then the tip of her pen gently touched the pure white paper to resume writing. As she reached the midway point, an untimely knock on the door interrupted her.

”Who could it be to disturb my chain of thought at this time... forget it... let’s pretend I didn’t hear it and finish this piece first.”

Ignoring the knocking sound, Keke Ai continued to focus on her writing. But unexpectedly, behind her, a deep and muffled bang resounded. A scorching fireball instantaneously shattered the wooden door to pieces, the burning fragments scattering across the floor of the room, sending up whisps of smoke.

Fear instantly surged into Keke Ai’s heart.

Why would there be an explosion all of a sudden? Had she been targeted the moment she set foot outside? Who could it be? Was it an underground organization that opposed the rules of the Library?

Countless thoughts rapidly flashed through Keke Ai’s mind as she cautiously rose to her feet and looked towards the door.

Standing outside the door was an ordinary-looking young man accompanied by a silver-haired girl wearing a giant blue mage hat.

These two were exactly Yang Yu and Tico, whom Keke Ai had written about in her last article that was adopted.

...

...

Hearing rumors spiraling into uncontrollable directions, Yang Yu promptly decided to search for Keke Ai with Tico.

Tico possessed formidable magic power, using it to support herself in flight, while effortlessly bringing Yang Yu into the air.

Yang Yu had a thorough experience of soaring straight up to ninety thousand li.

Unfortunately, even though he could fly, without Tico’s control, Yang Yu was still unable to move freely in the air.

If an aerial battle occurred, he wouldn’t be able to use the same method for air combat, which was something Yang Yu deeply regretted.

They flew northwards towards the city gate. Using a random excuse and paying the toll, Yang Yu and Tico arrived in the District.

The method they used to find Keke Ai was very back-to-basics—they started by looking for any recent big news and asked if the people involved had been interviewed by a girl with pink hair, then followed the trail from there.

After many challenges and half a day’s effort, Yang Yu and Tico finally met with the instigator of the rumors, and at last, they had a card to play against them.
