Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 226: Chapter 226: If one wishes to condemn someone, one can always find an excuse

No wonder, if he had noticed our presence from the beginning, everything would make sense. This man is far more difficult to deal with than he appears.

So easily he led me to spill the truth... If I continue to entangle with him, I will surely fall into his trap.

By then, not to mention completing the ”Task” assigned by the higher-ups, I might even be caught by him leveraging a handle against me.

After pondering for a while, a flash of inspiration struck Yu Jiesi’s mind, and he suddenly changed his statement,

”Mr. Yang Yu, I must admit you are eloquent, and I must also correct what I just said. Indeed, as you all said, if it is merely the destruction of your own property, we have no right to interfere. However, please consider the timing. Causing such a commotion at this hour may disrupt the lives of the general public.”

Yu Jiesi chuckled secretly in his heart. Even if you can use an argument to excuse yourselves, the disturbance of the peace is something you certainly cannot skirt around.

”Take a good look around, all these onlookers have been woken up by the noise you made. Causing such a major disturbance, interrupting people’s normal rest—if we do not warn against it, similar incidents will inevitably recur.

Therefore.

I am now arresting you on the charge of disturbing the peace in the middle of the night. Please cooperate with us.”

From the beginning, Yu Jiesi’s goal had only one, which was to follow the orders from above and send Lotcar to the special interrogation room.

But Yang Yu doggedly complicated a simple matter, and Yu Jiesi didn’t mind putting two more people in jail, locking them up for one or two days to have them reflect on their actions.

”You make it sound so noble.”

Yang Yu started clapping on the spot,

”Where there’s a will to punish, there’s always a charge to bring. Now you forcefully change your story, targeting the actions of Monster Tamers, exposing everything so blatantly. My fellow onlookers, I believe you all have formed your own opinions. Let each of you be the judge of the truth. I trust the public’s discernment is clear.”

Yu Jiesi thought he was clever by playing the ”sorry, you’ve disturbed the peace” sentiment card, little knowing that his every word had already touched many people’s red lines. Today you can arbitrarily put someone in detention for any reason—so, could that also happen to us in the future?

A few reporters from the surrounding media sensed the aroma of major news and took out their notebooks to record every word said by both parties, ready to make a splash.

Yu Jiesi thought he had outsmarted Yang Yu, but to his extreme discomfort, it turned out to be the other way around.

Before carrying out this ”Task”, the Law Enforcement Team had been warned not to reveal that it was the will of those above. If they did, they did not know what kind of punishment they would face—they had no choice but to keep mum.

At his wit’s end, Yu Jiesi gritted his teeth in anger.

Since joining the Law Enforcement Team, he had never faced such humiliation before; everyone else had always apologised respectfully and was willing to cooperate. He couldn’t understand how he came across such a tough nut to crack today.

However, returning empty-handed was not an option, so Yu Jiesi had to brazenly persist, heedless of the consequences, to complete the task.

”I admit it was my negligence. I shouldn’t have treated you like that, I should have been more amiable and rational in explaining the situation. I apologize to you for what I just said, but your actions have severely disturbed the public’s peace. To prevent such incidents from happening again, please work with us and take a trip to the Judgement Court.”

Yang Yu secretly frowned in his heart.

When pushed to this point, they still persisted in their stance; it seemed they were determined to take Lotcar away. Insisting on making them compromise would only reach their limit.

There was no choice but to compromise when necessary. After all, it’s quite normal for a game to have a few unavoidable scenes.

With that in mind, Yang Yu resigned himself.

But he still tried to take as much advantage as he could. He then raised his voice, showing great understanding for Yu Jiesi’s actions,

”We are willing to cooperate, of course we are willing. It’s only disturbing the peace at midnight, not a heinous act like murder. Of course, we’re willing to cooperate.

To show our sincerity and that we have recognized the error of this incident, we will apologize to everyone for our actions.

If possible, we will also compensate the Library and apologize to every disturbed family personally.

Oh, and I have a small favor to ask. Since I need to hold a press conference at noon today, if you could allow me some accommodation around that time, so I can meet with all the journalists. Otherwise, I won’t be able to fulfill my promise and would let each journalist down.

I think, Mr. Yu Jiesi, you certainly wouldn’t want to make enemies with the journalists, always at odds with them.”

Hearing Yang Yu say this, Yu Jiesi was so angry he nearly bit through his gums.

Pretending to comply on the surface, but secretly, this man was still bargaining with him.

Not just bargaining, but he used everything around him as a shield, using the media to create pressure in public opinion, complicating their law enforcement.

Why is this man so biased toward Lotcar and Ying Luo? As far as I know, he only joined us a few days ago, right?

Could it be because he is also a Monster Tamer? Speaking of which, where is his demon? His demon couldn’t possibly be unaffected?

As if grasping a last lifeline, Yu Jiesi spoke up:

”How long exactly you’ll be detained or whether you can attend the press conference is not something we can decide. It’s for the Judgment Chief to determine. However, if your acknowledgement of wrongdoing is sincere, I believe the Referee will make a fair judgment, allowing you to return to your normal life as soon as possible.

Alright, enough idle talk; come with us now. Oh, and Mr. Yang Yu, since you’re a Monster Tamer, please bring your ”Demon” along with us to the Judgement Court. You haven’t forgotten it, have you?”

”No problem. Of course, I brought it.” Yang Yu waved to Bai Jin, who passed him a jar. Yang Yu pointed to the jar in his hand, ”Here, my demon is right in here.”

Looking at the jar, Yu Jiesi noticed a pale blue ”Slime” inside the glass container, its entire body filling the bottom of the jar, and a thin layer of golden liquid covering the surface of the Slime.

The Slime was very quiet, displaying no signs of violence.

Yu Jiesi’s eyes widened in disbelief.

His demon seemed completely unaffected—how could this be? This wasn’t what they had agreed to! Could we have really made a mistake?
