Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 221: Chapter 221: In any case, take them out and give them a beating first

Her pink pajamas were stained all over, and blood continuously dripped down from Ying Luo’s forehead, falling drop by drop from her chin as she looked up at Lotcar standing on the rooftop.

In the middle of the night, hearing strange noises, Ying Luo awoke from her sleep, sat up, and pressed her ear against the wall to listen carefully. From the other side of the wall, there were crunching sounds, like a mouse burrowing.

To prevent the villa from being damaged by mice, Ying Luo threw on a robe and hurried downstairs only to find that it was Lotcar scraping the villa walls with his sharp claws.

Upon seeing the unusual behavior of Lotcar, Ying Luo’s first thought was that Lotcar must have had a nightmare and was venting his inner torment by doing this stealthily in the middle of the night.

Everyone has things they aren’t good at.

Painful memories buried in the heart materialized in dreams, and Ying Luo understood this feeling well.

She slowly approached Lotcar and gently touched its cold fur, trying to comfort it,

”I don’t know what kind of past you have, but we should both let go of the past and start a new life. Isn’t that why I brought you here?”

The giant wolf Lotcar trembled and stopped his actions.

Ying Luo showed a genuine smile, gently stroking Lotcar’s smooth fur, ”We are not left with nothing; at least, we have each other. As long as we are willing to make an effort, we can definitely live a normal life.”

Lotcar slowly turned his head, and Ying Luo’s hand stroking Lotcar abruptly stopped.

Lotcar’s formerly gentle pale blue eyes had turned blood red, filled with ferocity as if wanting to destroy everything.

—This was not Lotcar.

The moment this thought flashed through her mind, the mane on Lotcar’s neck exploded, and without warning, he charged at Ying Luo, violently knocking her into the cold surrounding wall.

Lotcar had completely lost his mind.

His sharp claws furiously struck the wall, smashing a large hole and aimlessly biting the broken stones that fell. Then, he burst into the villa, releasing his suppressed soul and destroying everything.

Holding her injured left hand, Ying Luo slowly stood up along the wall. Ignoring her pain, she followed the sounds of destruction made by Lotcar.

In fact, Ying Luo wanted to enter the villa to look for Lotcar, but she was more afraid that Lotcar might run out of the villa and harm others.

If things escalated to that point, Lotcar would be deemed an extreme danger by the Library and mercilessly put down.

That was the outcome Ying Luo least wanted to see.

Inside the villa, Lotcar wreaked havoc and finally bit through the ceiling and climbed onto the roof, letting out a long wolf howl.

This howl could no longer be concealed and attracting the attention of the Law Enforcement Team was only a matter of time.

If the Law Enforcement Team arrived before she could calm Lotcar down, the consequences were unimaginable.

Without hesitation, Ying Luo shouted loudly at Lotcar,

”We have lived together for so long. I have already regarded you as family. You must, too, regard me as someone important. Originally, didn’t we agree to always be friends?

I don’t know what has happened, what has agitated you, but rampaging around and losing your senses like this is just not like you. Please, I beg you, wake up!”

The shouts echoed around, and Lotcar gently rotated his sharp ears, also noticing the sound. His crimson eyes stared down at Ying Luo before he leaped forward, his sharp claws gleaming and his massive jaw wide open.

Seeing this, Ying Luo bit her lips, tears uncontrollably welling up in her eyes though she stubbornly refrained from letting them fall.

All of this was a consequence of my own actions.

I had promised to protect you. In the end, I failed to keep my promise.

Upon entering the Library, I had foreseen this situation and continually gathered information hoping to prevent such a tragedy.

But ultimately, under pressure from the authorities, I destroyed all the acquired information. With a stroke of luck, thinking such an incident had happened once and wouldn’t occur again, I contentedly lived on in the All Things Library, leading to the current situation.

Memories of the times spent with Lotcar flitted across Ying Luo’s mind like a fast-moving slideshow, filled only with regret.

Is this death my punishment from heaven?

”Forgive me.”

Eventually, Ying Luo couldn’t hold back tears any longer as a tear streaked down her cheek, her eyes closing as if to fully accept her fate.

”Thorny Binding”

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang beside Ying Luo’s ear. Stout purple thorns emerged from the ground beside her, almost consciously shielding her. They wrapped around Lotcar’s front paws and pulled back, causing his swiping claw to miss and strike the solid wall beside her.

”Gale Point Break”

”Frost Ice Arrow”

The pristine Frost Ice Sword and the silvery arrows sliced through the air simultaneously, striking Lotcar’s flank. Lotcar sidestepped, clawing into the ground with his four powerful paws to stabilize himself and prevent being knocked down.

Lotcar lifted his head, his blood-red eyes looking toward the source of the attacks.

But as he raised his head, Yang Yu surged forward with incredible speed. In a flash, his gleaming broadsword swung directly at Lotcar, who quickly jumped back, allowing Yang Yu’s sword to swing at empty air.

Casually shouldering his sword, Yang Yu smiled satisfactorily,

”It seems, even without consciousness, the battle instinct remains. Well worth the fight.”

Yang Yu’s sudden arrival was like a beam of light piercing into Ying Luo’s world. However, she also feared for Lotcar getting hurt by Yang Yu. Her conflicted emotions interwoven, Ying Luo shared her genuine concern,

”Don’t hurt him. There must be some reason for this, it’s not his fault.”

Yang Yu glanced at the hesitant Ying Luo and scoffed,

”Don’t say such naive things. If a beating can bring him back to normal, I won’t miss the chance. Just watch from the sidelines.”

With that, Yang Yu charged again, while Bai Jin and Iyas sheathed their weapons and stood back as instructed by Yang Yu.

Over the past few days, Bai Jin and Iyas had been occupied with their own tasks, unaware of the full details of the events, nor did they know Yang Yu’s exact plans. But they were aware that Yang Yu’s actions were surely linked to He Meng’s abnormal behavior.

For now, all they could do was trust Yang Yu and ensure the smooth execution of his plan.
