Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 224: Chapter 224 We’re Just Arguing

”Is this what the next clan leader of the Silver Teeth Clan does? Can such a person really become the next clan leader?”

”Duel? Come then, let me show you the reality now, let’s see who truly deserves to be the next clan leader.”

”Cough cough, you are stronger than I imagined, no, you relied on forbidden power to defeat me! I know the whole truth, including the part about you sacrificing the entire clan for power!”

”Look at yourself now, stuck in your primitive form, unable to return, that’s the price you paid for power!”

”What’s wrong, did my words enrage you? Or have you completely fallen into the Abyss, unable to even recognize the person you love before you? How sad. You won, but you have nothing, this is your dead end.”

Shut up... Shut up!

I didn’t do anything, I don’t know why I turned out this way, someone must have framed me!

Why can’t I change back? Could all this be your conspiracy? What exactly did you put in my drink?

Why would you do this! Why can’t I suddenly control my body...

...

Hmm?

No, this feeling is somewhat similar to before, but it’s completely different.

Before?

How long have I been running since then?

As the drug spread through his mouth, Lotcar shook his head vigorously, and as the illusion cleared like dissipating fog, a wide human street emerged before his eyes. He shook his head from side to side to check his surroundings.

”It truly is a drug worthy of its astronomical price, with astonishing healing effects, easily resolving that tricky abnormal status, but the method of making this drug... Hey, buddy, feeling any better?”

Hearing this voice, Lotcar lowered his head, and saw that bothersome youth standing in front of him, wearing a smug smile on his face.

What exactly happened?

Just as Lotcar formed this thought, fragments of memory flicked before his eyes. He couldn’t believe it, he had just fought with Yang Yu, and was completely at a disadvantage.

”Lotcar, are you alright now?”

A familiar voice rang out not far away, and Lotcar twitched his ears toward the direction of the sound. Ying Luo stood there, disheveled and pale, with dried blood on her forehead, looking extremely miserable, yet still offering him a friendly smile that warmed his heart.

Lotcar clearly knew who had hurt Ying Luo.

A giant wolf, over two meters tall, now sat like a guilty puppy, bowing its head in silence, offering an apology without words.

”It’s okay, it wasn’t your fault, you were just influenced. I was wrong, knowing the truth, we shouldn’t have stayed here. Let’s leave this place. I know it’s dangerous outside, but it’s better than here. As long as we keep looking, we’ll definitely find a place for us both.”

Ying Luo’s smile became even more radiant and beautiful. Looking at her beautiful smile and then at the damaged villa behind him, Lotcar felt increasingly oppressed. He had so easily shattered everything they had worked for, yet this girl in front of him still chose to forgive him.

”Stop right there.”

Not long after Ying Luo finished speaking, uniformed members of the Library Enforcement Team descended from the sky, surrounding Yang Yu and his group.

A man in his late twenties stepped forward from the Enforcement Team, ”I am Yu Jiesi, the captain of the Third Enforcement Team of the All Things Library. I am here to arrest your demon based on the Special Law for Monster Tamers, Article Twelve. Please cooperate.”

Hearing this sentence, Ying Luo’s heart sank.

According to Article Twelve of the Special Law for Monster Tamers, if a demon becomes uncontrollable and the tamer fails to intervene promptly causing damage to public property, the Library has the right to detain and evaluate the demon to determine its threat level and enact appropriate punishment.

The regulation states this, but anyone who has looked into it knows that the demons brought in for evaluation are effectively being sent to their death.

”Wait, things aren’t what you think; there are reasons behind this.”

Ying Luo pleaded desperately, but Yu Jiesi simply waved his hand forward, signaling the surrounding Enforcement Team to proceed.

Their goal was clear: activate magic to trap Lotcar and then send Lotcar for a special examination and sentencing.

”Wait, aren’t you being unreasonable by taking someone’s demon away without understanding the situation?” Yang Yu put his sword back into the System, ”Under which regulation are you judging it?”

”Didn’t I just tell you? According to Article Twelve of the Special Law for Monsters. If you didn’t hear it clearly, let me restate it: if a demon becomes uncontrollable and the Monster Tamer fails to intervene in time resulting in damage to public property, we have the right to detain and evaluate the demon and decide on a post-evaluation disposition.”

Yu Jiesi remained serious, his smile not reaching his eyes. He had to admit, Yang Yu had been a great help to them in the past, but orders were orders. He could always offer Yang Yu some benefits later.

However, today, they had to take this giant wolf away.

Little did Yu Jiesi know that Yang Yu just smiled nonchalantly, unconvinced, ”So that’s the rule you mentioned. But I am sorry to tell you that we didn’t violate any rules at all.”

”Don’t stand there lying through your teeth. If this demon isn’t uncontrollable, how do you explain this lady’s injuries and the wrecked villa?”

Yang Yu looked relaxed, casually cleaning his ear before responding,

”It was just a typical domestic dispute. Miss Ying Luo and her demon were having a huge argument that escalated to a physical altercation.

You know, how could a regular human possibly handle such a giant demon? So, Miss Ying Luo called me over for help.

Feeling unfair in a two-on-one situation, this big fluffy beast went on a rampage around the villa, causing all this damage unintentionally. It didn’t mean to hit Miss Ying Luo, but unfortunately, it slipped and ended up knocking her over.

To resolve the conflict completely, we decided after a discussion that Lotcar and I should engage in a one-on-one duel, and whoever wins would be in charge, hence the scene you witnessed just now.

Miss Ying Luo, am I right?”

Seeing Yang Yu directing the question to her, Ying Luo nodded urgently, ”That’s right, it was just a typical argument, just a bit loud. Had I known it would lead to such a misunderstanding and draw everyone here, I would not have argued with it. Isn’t that right, Lotcar?”

Lotcar, seeing the situation, lay down and wagged its tail, promising never to dare again.

”Nonsense!”

Yu Jiesi saw the two of them covering for each other and was instantly furious. He scorned their behavior and shouted,

”It sounds plausible, but don’t think you can fool me! I saw everything just now, and you were definitely not just arguing!”
