Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Breaking in Through the Window

As usual, Yang Yu opened the curtains to welcome the bright morning sunlight and inhaled the fresh morning air.

He was quite pleased with the room, its layout appealing even without any furnishings, always a delightful sight.

His only complaint was that the windows were hard to open; in an emergency, one had to smash them to escape.

There seemed to be a small hammer in the room, apparently prepared for emergency escapes, and the windows were deliberately designed to be difficult to open.

Stretching lazily, Yang Yu headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

Yesterday, he and Lady Tico had been busy all day but made no substantial progress.

Looking at his reflection in the basin, Yang Yu had a vague foreboding, as if his intuition was telling him that if he did not quickly find Keke Ai to refute the rumors, there would be serious trouble.

Actually, it wasn’t that Yang Yu didn’t want to find Keke Ai sooner; it was just that this journalist moved too quickly, almost like a reporter from Hong Kong, one who seemed to have the speed of the wind under her feet, unless some big news broke, it was hard to meet her.

The Library Newspaper, operated directly by one of the Library Elders, Lacqueu Jis, had evolved extensively, making today’s version hardly different from the newspapers Yang Yu had read in the past.

The layout of the Library Newspaper was divided into countless small sections, each with its fixed content.

Submitting articles to these sections could earn corresponding rewards.

The amount of the reward depended on the popularity of the section and the quality of the article but was never less than twenty contribution points.

If the article stood out and made the headlines, one could earn five hundred contribution points in one go, an amount equivalent to several months of work for a regular library member.

Hence, the reporters of the Library Newspaper were exceptionally active, trying all means to collect various types of news, creating particularly notable titles, starting with unusual views, and writing bizarre articles to attract attention and earn a large number of contribution points as fees.

This caused two types of impacts.

On the positive side, more insightful, hard-working, and talented reporters could earn contribution points faster, standing out from many reporters to become Star-level Members.

On the negative side, because it was profitable, many reporters didn’t care whether the information they obtained was true or false, often making mountains out of molehills, becoming full-fledged clickbaiters. This was also one of the results of the low threshold for becoming a reporter for the Library Newspaper.

As long as one discovered interesting news and wrote an engaging article, submitted it to the designated place, and had it accepted once, they could qualify to apply to become a reporter for the Library Newspaper.

Some people, upon the spur of the moment, wrote a news piece that caught an editor’s eye, would then consider themselves immensely talented, with potential to become a library reporter, dominate the headlines, become a Star-level Member, reach the apex of their life, and marry the wealthy and beautiful.

Thus, they resolutely chose to become reporters for the newspaper, bracing for the harsh realities of society.

After extensive development, the number of reporters at the Library Newspaper was nearly saturated.

In a fierce competition for the limited space in the Newspaper, these reporters would insanely search for material everywhere, possibly writing dozens of articles in a week.

The section Keke Ai submitted to this time was the ”Library Chronicles.” While almost everyone would glance at it, this section wasn’t very popular and offered low returns, which is why she was preparing to head out of town to explore new stories right after publication.

Honestly, the low earnings of this section were also due to the Library Newspaper’s lax scrutiny on it.

As long as the articles were interesting and caught the attention of the editors above, they could be published in this section.

It was also because of this lenient review process that the section was filled with many unresolved matters, often proving to be embarrassingly incorrect, yet many people continued undeterred, making the ”Library Chronicles” the official gossip platform of the Library Newspaper.

Regarding potentially incorrect information, the Library’s approach was not to retract the newspapers but to open a smaller section under ”Library Chronicles” specifically for refutations and apologies.

Not only does it eliminate some influence, but it also attracts a certain amount of traffic. Truly a business Ghost Talent.

Yang Yu had only learned about this situation yesterday, which made him immediately give up going directly to the editorial department to ask them to help debunk the rumors about him.

He guessed that the people in the department would likely say, ”For this matter, you need to find the author who published the article. Bring your own evidence and point out the flaws in his article in person, then we can help you debunk the rumors.”

In any case, it seemed that without finding Keke Ai, there would be no progress in the matter.

After washing up, Yang Yu leisurely changed into his travel clothes, never intending to rush from the start.

He believed that since the rumors had already been released, they probably wouldn’t worsen in the short term. Whether Keke Ai returned a day earlier or later didn’t really make much of a difference.

Compared to Keke Ai, he was more concerned about Lady Tico’s mother.

Once he sorted things out with Lady Tico’s mother, he could have a bright future.

And that was his plan for today.

According to Tico, Emily would be resting this afternoon. By then, he could pay her a visit to persuade Lady Tico’s mother and remove the misunderstandings between them.

While mentally rehearsing his plan, Yang Yu brewed himself a cup of tea.

After finishing this cup of tea, he planned to check on Iyas’s study situation before visiting Lady Tico’s mother.

However, before Yang Yu could even pick up his tea, a scorching Fireball shattered the window of his room, sending waves of heat across his face and dust sweeping over the surface of the water.

”Enemy attack?”

Yang Yu immediately put down his cup of tea, took out his Shield and sword, and got ready.

Looking up, the first thing that caught his eye was a huge blue Mage hat, followed by silver hair fluttering freely in the wind.

The person who smashed his window was none other than Tico herself.

Seemingly oblivious to the chaos around, Tico flew through the broken window, landed in front of Yang Yu, and grabbed his hand, attempting to pull him up.

...

Let’s turn back the clock a bit.

The reason Tico resorted to such a violent method to break the window was purely out of necessity.

Today was supposed to be an ordinary day for her, just like any other.

But on her way to the classroom, Tico noticed something unusual—passersby started whispering to each other whenever they saw her.

At first, Tico didn’t care much, just as Yang Yu had said, panicking would only bring adverse effects. Only by behaving normally could she gradually mitigate the impact.

Unexpectedly, just as she entered the classroom, reporters swarmed in, completely blocking the room.

”Lady Tico, is it true that you have fallen for the recently popular newcomer in the Library?”

”Miss Tico, why did you invite Yang Yu to your villa last night?”

”I heard that the Library Elder, Emily, has already approved of your relationship. What do you think about that?”
