The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 348: Chapter 348: Nathalie is not picky with food_1

Nathalie Quinlan’s nature was unfettered. Once she had come to an understanding, she didn’t feel out of place and gradually relaxed.

Amadeus Yancey’s fingers, distinct and articulate, gripped the glass as he poured her water and set it before her. He sat there, his demeanor natural and extraordinary, ”What would you like to eat?”

”Anything.” Nathalie continued to play with her phone, unable to help it, there were too many messages to reply to. Propping her chin on her elbow, her attitude was quite casual, not even lifting her eyes, ”I’ll eat whatever you guys order; I’m not picky.”

Amadeus heard her response and couldn’t help but let out a light chuckle. He pressed his handsome hand against his brow, his eyes rippling with amusement, ”Then let’s just order a few random dishes.”

Nathalie was still looking at her phone and responded without raising her head, ”Mhm.”

Amadeus picked a few dishes from the menu at random and then whispered something to the waiter.

The waiter gave him a surprised glance, silently taking the handed-over menu and scurried off to place the order.

Alfred Garland didn’t catch what he had said to the waiter. Seeing Nathalie still engrossed in her phone, suddenly remembered something, and said, ”Ms. Quinlan, you have your exam on the 6th. How are you planning to spend the next two days? Fancy wandering around Beijing? Amadeus grew up here and could show you around.”

Amadeus also looked at her eagerly, his voice deep, ”Want to tour Beijing?”

Nathalie’s eyes never left her phone as she answered nonchalantly, ”We’ll see. I might not have the time.”

Alfred was puzzled, ”Ms. Quinlan, do you have other plans?”

It didn’t make sense. It was Ms. Quinlan’s first time in Beijing, and apart from them, she was a stranger in a strange land. What other plans could she possibly have?

Could it be that she wanted to spend more time studying in the hotel due to the upcoming exams?

But that didn’t seem to fit Nathalie’s style. Back in McKinney, Alfred hardly saw her studying, so it seemed unlikely that she suddenly became anxious to hit the books upon arriving in Beijing.

With only three days left before the exam, it was far too late for last-minute cramming.

While he thought this, he didn’t voice it. Instead, he said, ”Alternatively, Amadeus can give you a ride, or I can do it too.”

Nathalie was about to reply when her phone on the table began to vibrate.

It was a new message.

She casually picked up her phone and opened the new message.

[Nie: Have you arrived in Beijing?]

Nathalie lowered her eyelashes, her dark and dense lashes fluttering as her pale fingers typed rapidly. Only the flurry of her hands on the screen was visible.

It didn’t take long for her to send a response back.

[QN: Yeah, just landed and found a place to eat. I didn’t get to treat you to a birthday meal before, now that I’m in Beijing I’d like to invite you, got time?]

She didn’t expect a quick response as they seldom contacted each other, and he usually took a while to reply to messages.

However, to her surprise, just a few seconds after her message was sent, she received a reply.

[Nie: You actually remember to treat me to a meal. I’ll make time even if I don’t have any.]

Another message followed shortly after.

[Nie: Have you found a place to stay? Do you want to stay at my place?]

Nathalie propped her chin on her hand, her eyes dark and defiant, wild.

[QN: No thanks, I’m at a hotel. It’s more convenient.]

In Beijing, she actually owned a few properties, but she had always left them unattended. It would be a hassle to move in temporarily, and a hotel seemed more convenient – especially one close to Tsinghua University for easy access later on.

She hadn’t let Audrick inform the Zachmann family of her visit to Beijing as she wanted to avoid the hassle.

Since even the Zachmann family wasn’t alerted, there was certainly no need to disturb anyone else.

[QN: When are you free? I’ll come to you.]
