The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Alfred Garland Is a Godlike Assistant_1

Caryn Zachmann temporarily put the silhouette she’d witnessed out of her mind, took a deep breath, clutched her handbag tightly with a nervous grip, and followed: ”Alright.”

Her mother was right, Nathalie Quinlan was just a country bumpkin from McKinney; she didn’t need to compare herself to someone like that, which would only downgrade her own class.

She should set her sights higher.

As for what happened just now... maybe it was just a trick of the light?

”Ms. Quinlan, please take the inside seat.” The Imperial Hotel might sound like a dining venue, but it actually more closely resembled a private club.

It featured a restaurant known for Santhoma cuisine, as well as leisure and entertainment areas, and there were conference halls on the upper floors.

Amadeus Yancey was a regular here.

Sometimes he would come with friends to play cards.

Alfred Garland often accompanied him and was extremely familiar with the place. As soon as they arrived at their reserved spot, he started expertly directing where everyone should sit.

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t care where she sat and, raising an eyebrow, took the window seat he indicated.

Then she heard his powerful voice command, ”Amadeus, please sit next to Ms. Quinlan. I’ll sit across.”

As he spoke, he pulled back the chair opposite and claimed the spot for himself. Meanwhile, he explained to Nathalie Quinlan in a ’hiding the obvious’ manner, ”This spot’s a bit cramped. We made a last-minute reservation, and couldn’t get a better place. Ms. Quinlan, you’ll just have to squeeze in a little with Amadeus.”

In reality, the Imperial Hotel was owned by a friend of Amadeus Yancey, who had also invested in shares and was therefore a behind-the-scenes co-owner.

How could the boss not get a reservation?

But when he reserved a spot upon getting off the airplane, he slyly asked the manager for a window seat with a good view and a romantic atmosphere, suitable for couples.

A couple’s nook was of course not going to be that spacious.

And that’s how it ended up.

This wasn’t Amadeus Yancey’s first time here, so he definitely knew Alfred Garland’s little secret. A fleeting glance from his deep, dark eyes caught Alfred turning his head away, perfectly timing the avoidance in a ’I’m admiring the view outside, wow, there goes a pretty decent-looking sparrow flying by’ kind of way.

Feeling somewhat helpless, Amadeus’s lips curved slightly as he leisurely pulled out the seat next to Nathalie Quinlan and asked, ”Will it be too cramped if I sit here?”

Nathalie Quinlan, already settled in her most comfortable position with one leg draped over the side, elbow propping up her chin, and casually leaning against the chair without any proper posture, lifted her eyes upon hearing his words. In her casual, ink-like eyes, she responded, ”It’s fine; I don’t feel cramped.”

She almost blurted out, ’If you feel cramped, you can sit next to Alfred.’

But looking again at the person occupying the opposite side, who brazenly took up more than half of the space and, being tall with long legs like himself, would likely have faced an even more uncomfortable situation than if Amadeus had to squeeze next to her.

On the verge of speaking, she changed her mind: ”Just sit here!”

Otherwise, it would have been too stifling for the two of them to squeeze in together.

The concept of a couple’s nook is a space not with separate seats but with sofa booths on each side—that’s what makes for a couple’s nook.

Nathalie Quinlan always liked to sit on the edge, preferring a private and isolated space. Suddenly having someone so close, especially someone with an aura so powerful that it was hard to ignore, she definitely felt uncomfortable.

Luckily, the person sitting next to her was Amadeus Yancey, which made her feel slightly less awkward.

After all, how could she not? Amadeus and she were acquainted, besides, he was Edric’s uncle. They had previously discussed how they should relate to one another and he had mentioned they were friends.

Friends squeezing into a seat to share a meal was no big deal.
