The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 335: Chapter 335: Slapping the Face of the Chinese Medicine Department_1

The Chinese Medicine faculty all looked distressed.

Adelle Wafford observed their frustrated expressions turning pale, feeling slightly better at heart, she gripped her pen again and said with a smirk, ”I advise you to participate this year. Just in case a good seed loses their way, your department could gain some talent.”

”Ah, I remember you only admitted three students last year, right?”

”This year might be a bit better, maybe we’ll recruit one through the independent admissions process, and then pick up a few more when students fill in their university preferences after the college entrance examination. At least it would be better than last year.”

Her words were excessive.

None of the Tsinghua University teachers present said a word.

What could they do? It wasn’t their place to interject in the internal squabbles of the Medical Department.

After her brazen critiques, the expressions on the faces of the Chinese Medicine faculty were uglier than ever. Unable to contain himself anymore, the head of the department, Trovan Harrison, stood up, looked at her with a stern voice and said, ”Professor Wafford is so sure that we won’t recruit a single student this year?”

Adelle Wafford found it amusing. The Medical Department was a premier discipline, but it was their Western medicine that was the ace, what did that have to do with Chinese Medicine?

Unless they were foolish, who would give up Western medicine for the thankless task of studying Chinese Medicine?

She smiled leisurely with composure, slowly shifting to a more relaxed pose, ”I didn’t mean that, what I mean is that the Chinese Medicine department hasn’t participated in the independent admissions process for years; it’s about time you gave it a shot this year. Otherwise, people outside might misunderstand and think we are excluding you.”

”...”

Her words made it even worse, the faces of the Chinese Medicine faculty turned even more unsightly.

Everyone in the Medical Department knew that the Chinese Medicine faculty had participated in the independent admissions process before, but no matter how attractive their offers, students were unwilling to choose their discipline. Over time, even Mr. Avalon stopped coming, and without him at the helm, they failed to recruit, not even the least desirable students. Said students would rather take the college entrance examination than apply to their department, so they stopped participating in the independent admissions process...

It would probably be the same this year!

But to throw insults was one thing; to slap someone’s face publicly was another, and Adelle Wafford did just that to the Chinese Medicine department, going as far as to say such things. Could they say they wouldn’t participate?

But to participate... if no students came, they would be slapped in the face just the same.

The head of the Chinese Medicine department knew this situation all too well; he clenched his fist, his face stern, and suddenly turned to look at the dean. He raised his voice, ”Dean, this year our department would like to participate in the independent admissions process.”

”Head of department...” several Chinese Medicine teachers exclaimed in surprise, calling out to him subconsciously.

But then they thought, if they didn’t participate now, they would be mocked anyway. Better to take part and maybe, just maybe, someone would choose them.

With this thought, the teachers exchanged glances and fell silent.

But where could they vent the reluctance and desolation in their hearts?

Chinese Medicine was indisputably a national treasure, yet as the era progressed, fewer and fewer children liked and believed in Chinese Medicine.

What was once a national treasure has become a cesspool of deception.

The medical practices that came from the West had become the essence, how absurd!

Yet facing such a reality, besides their inner rage and dissatisfaction, they found no way to change things.

The best students were not willing to study Chinese Medicine, and the Chinese Medicine department couldn’t recruit promising candidates. With all their skills, who were they to teach?

The few students each year who wanted to attend Tsinghua University but couldn’t make it into other departments and grudgingly came to the Chinese Medicine department just to get a diploma?

Even if the teachers were willing, those children were not up to the challenge, unwilling to learn!

”Dean, this year our Chinese Medicine department wants to participate in the independent admissions exam!”

For the dignity of the Chinese Medicine department, even knowing they would once again become the laughing stock of the entire university through the independent admissions process, the head of the department was determined, gritting his teeth and pronouncing each word with forceful resolve!
