The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 309: Chapter 309: Also Gave Her a Gift_1

Myles Sullivan saw her standing up and said, without surprise, ”You’re leaving?”

Her phone vibrated again. Nathalie Quinlan didn’t look at it this time and slightly nodded her chin, saying, ”There’s something I need to take care of.”

Myles Sullivan stretched himself out, hand resting on the chair, and looked up at her with a smile, ”I just saw you constantly checking your phone. Did your family rush you?”

Family?

Nathalie Quinlan had the kind of beautiful eyes that, whether raised or lowered, had lashes like fans, perfectly concealing her emotions.

Myles Sullivan then saw her lips turn up a bit, and she nonchalantly replied, ”Mm-hmm.”

He picked up his coat and stood up, reaching for his wallet and walking ahead, ”Let’s go, I’ll settle the bill. Wait for me outside, I’ll drive you.”

But as he was just about to reach the counter, the waiter taking payments told him that Nathalie Quinlan had already paid.

Myles Sullivan was somewhat surprised; he knew this coffee shop was not cheap. Both he and Nathalie Quinlan had ordered a cup each, and it came to about three hundred in total. For him, three hundred was nothing, but for a high school girl like Nathalie Quinlan, it must have been a significant amount.

After a brief moment of surprise, he took out three hundred yuan from his wallet and tried to hand it to Nathalie Quinlan, ”When did you pay? I had no idea. Take this. I invited you out for a drink; I can’t let you pay.”

Nathalie Quinlan didn’t accept, insisting that he put the money away, her face filled with defiance, ”No need, Uncle Sullivan. Keep it. I still have a bit of money, enough for me.”

At least she had enough to treat someone to a drink!

Seeing her refusal, Myles Sullivan reluctantly put the money back into his wallet, his expression somewhat reproachful, ”...I said I was treating you to a drink, and now it’s turned into you treating me.”

He quickly relaxed his brows, pulled out a small box from his pocket, and smiled, ”Oh right, I almost forgot this.”

He handed the small box to Nathalie Quinlan, his expression gentle, ”This is a gift I brought for you.”

Fearing that Nathalie Quinlan might reject it, he added, ”Take it! I chose this gift carefully; you’ll definitely like it.”

Before coming, he had heard about the Quinlan family over the phone, and before leaving, he had someone buy something on his way back.

He had confidence in the gift he had purchased, believing that after seeing his gift, Nathalie Quinlan would feel some goodwill towards the Sullivan Family.

After all... no girl would dislike such a gift!

”Don’t worry too much about its price; just take good care of it for yourself. Every girl should have a couple of things like this.”

Full of confidence, Myles Sullivan insisted on giving the gift to Nathalie Quinlan, then changed the topic with a smile, ”You’re heading home, right? I’ll drive you.”

He had previously said he would drive her, and this time he seemed much more sincere than before.

Nathalie Quinlan was certainly self-possessed, infinitely more so than Ghania. If she could return with him to Beijing and work for the Sullivan Family in the future, it would surely be a profitable deal.

Unfortunately, Nathalie Quinlan didn’t give him the opportunity, raising her phone and speaking with a defiant air, ”I’ve already called a car. No trouble needed.”

Myles Sullivan had originally thought to use the opportunity of driving her to talk more about going to Beijing, but hearing this, he couldn’t insist.

...

Nathalie Quinlan stepped out of the coffee shop and waited by the roadside. The online-hailing cab she had called arrived shortly.

She opened the door and got into the car.

With a rather hoarse voice, she told the driver,

”To Pinecone Group.”

”Okay.”

The car sped off.

On the road, Nathalie Quinlan raised an eyebrow and glanced at the gift box that Myles Sullivan had shoved into her hands. She didn’t open it, but instead checked the latest two messages from Edric Yancey.
