Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 713: Chapter 214: Invitation_4

Chen Ming could only grasp the gist of it, completely unable to fully understand the details.

It seemed there was still much for him to learn.

Unable to comprehend what was being said, Chen Ming turned his attention back to the terminal in front of him.

Bai Quan finished discussing the external situation and then shifted the topic to the internal affairs of the Empire.

He talked about military logistics resource allocation, something Chen Ming hadn’t encountered at all in the past few days.

When Chen Ming was feeling a bit overwhelmed and guessing through his headache, the meeting finally ended.

Chen Ming breathed a sigh of relief and didn’t rush to leave.

Bai Quan seemed to have more to say to him.

When the meeting room quickly left only the projections of Chen Ming and Bai Quan, Bai Quan managed a slight smile and said to Chen Ming, ”Couldn’t understand it, right?”

”This was just a simple small-scale summary meeting to discuss the upcoming plans, but since the strategic plans haven’t changed, we ended quickly.”

”If a large-scale war breaks out in the future, these meetings wouldn’t end, and there would be more specialized terms for you to get familiar with.”

Chen Ming’s expression stiffened slightly; command technology was a completely new field for him and much harder to learn than spaceship technology.

But if he wanted to improve, he couldn’t avoid these things.

Seeing Chen Ming’s expression, Bai Quan directly switched the topic and said, ”By the way, are you interested in participating in a reconnaissance mission?”

Chen Ming quickly adjusted his mindset and asked, ”How do I participate?”

”Every time the mission starts, I will assign you a Destroyer. This Destroyer doesn’t need to fight; just follow the reconnaissance fleet and help with daily transmission of information.”

”As you just heard me mention, outside the Empire, there are no Superluminal Communication Base Stations. Signal transmission relies solely on the spacecraft’s communication device, and instantaneous communication transmission can easily expose our position. We need a method for rapid communication.”

”So you’re having me do it?”

To be honest, this task isn’t difficult, nor is it troublesome. All Chen Ming needs to do is to package the spaceship’s database and bring it back every day, which is quite simple.

And each mission comes with a Destroyer, which is a decent reward.

Though Chen Ming doesn’t lack a Destroyer now, earning a bit more is always welcome.

He never complains about having too much money.

”Can it be converted to cash?”

”Yes, it can.”

”Then I have no problem with it.”

”Thanks, I’ll inform you about the next mission.”

Bai Quan nodded and said, ”Oh, by the way, I’ve applied for another artifact from another civilization, and it should arrive at your side in a few days. As before, I’ll need your help with researching it.”

”Does it have a name?”

”Yes, it’s called the Synchronous Accelerator Core.”

Half an hour after the meeting ended, Chen Ming disconnected from the holographic projection and refocused on the dome here.

He now found himself with some free time, at least for the days until the next artifact arrives, he could do his own things at night.

However, before Chen Ming could think about what he might do, a call came in.

Chen Ming glanced at the terminal; it was Cheng Xinghai’s call.

When the call connected, Cheng Xinghai greeted Chen Ming just as he always did, ”Hello, hello, is Chen Ming there?”

”I’ve picked up your call, and you’re asking if I’m here?”

”Hehe, just joking. There’s a fight over here, want to come?”

”A fight?”

”Yes, a large-scale multiplayer fight, want to join?”

Chen Ming thought for a moment and said, ”I don’t have experience in this area.”

”It’s fine, both sides of a large-scale battle have multiple people, each responsible for their own tasks.”

”Not everyone specializes in battlefield command. There are people who learn large-scale battlefield deployment and logistics, and you don’t have to worry about other aspects. You just need to focus on fighting.”

Chen Ming asked again, ”So it’s a team battle? But is it okay if I don’t know anyone?”

”Don’t worry, I’ve already found teammates for you, you just need to come.”

”Uncle Bai is still the referee, I talked to him about it in advance.”

”Also, these long-term large-scale battles require deep consciousness immersion to facilitate accelerating Thought Speed, so as not to waste too much time in reality.”

”I heard you’ve recently been to the division? You should be able to just lie into the equipment, right?”

Cheng Xinghai seemed to have arranged everything during the days she was away, just waiting for him to come over at last.

But Chen Ming had to confirm, ”How long will it take approximately?”

”It might take more than a dozen hours, and every participant can pause for fifteen minutes in between.”

”When does it start?”

”From tonight through the next week.”

Chen Ming looked at his schedule and said, ”Hmm, I can go.”
