Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 705: Chapter 212 Unexpected Accident_4

Under the watchful eyes of many people and the monitoring of instruments, Chen Ming completed the control of the Mechanical Race.

Cooperated to complete some additional tests.

All data was recorded and will later be shared throughout the Empire.

Bai Quan took most of the people away after the event concluded.

The remaining fifty or so people and the think tank provided by Bai Quan were arranged by a secretary specifically assigned by Chen Ming and Bai Quan to help Chen Ming, to stay at the dome.

The basic living facilities were arranged a couple of days earlier.

The researchers were generally self-sufficient in their lives.

Chen Ming only needed to assign tasks to them.

When selecting people, Chen Ming had already designated their respective duties.

Anyway, there was an experimental building plus a laboratory under this dome, so there was no worry about a lack of space.

These researchers mainly came to participate in Chen Ming’s research on the Mechanical Race, so Chen Ming arranged for them to take over part of the design tasks for the Purgatory Engine.

Some data on the Purgatory Core’s supporting equipment was disclosed to the assistants.

Since they were all researchers of the Mechanical Race and Bai Quan let them be here without giving a caution, it meant that it was fine for these researchers to know about the Purgatory Core.

Of course, Chen Ming didn’t show pivotal research findings to others; only he could complete the most crucial parts of this thing.

That night.

After arranging the researchers, Bai Quan came over to Chen Ming’s place.

Sitting with Chen Ming in a specially arranged private room on the second basement floor meant just for him.

After taking a bite of the greenish specialty that Chen Ming claimed to have brought from his previous expedition, Bai Quan said to Chen Ming: ”I asked Director Wu.”

”What did he say?”

”He said the process was somewhat bizarre.”

”Director Wu mentioned that what he applied for was indeed a set of new equipment, no issue there, I checked his application form.”

”Then when loading, Director Wu said he personally went on-site for inspection; no issues there, and there were recordings and sample checks.”

”The issue arose when unloading from the ship; by then all the equipment had turned into old equipment.”

”He doesn’t have much contact with me and thought I took a kickback, so he didn’t dare to say anything, only secretly reported it back to headquarters.”

”Then he had all the old equipment thoroughly checked, found no issues, and just used them.”

Interrupted, Chen Ming said: ”The aging of key components shouldn’t go unnoticed. With over a thousand people, there’s definitely someone with a problem. We need to investigate those in charge of inspecting the Electromagnetic Restraint Device.”

”It’s been checked; it was examined by a disciple of Director Wu.”

”Director Wu’s disciple?”

”Yes, apparently the youngest disciple of Director Wu. We can’t alert them prematurely; for now, bigger issues lie with headquarters.”

”I can’t believe a batch of equipment could be swapped without insiders facilitating it.”

”So?”

Bai Quan paused for a brief moment and said: ”I can only go and investigate first; but the results... I can’t guarantee.”

”The more you engage with upper-level dealings, the more political things become, the more powerless you feel. Often without conclusive evidence, like those that can directly bring people down, everything is just empty talk.”

Chen Ming inquired: ”So you’re implying that someone high-ranking within the Fourteenth Legion doesn’t want to see this situation?”

”... Just a guess...”

Chen Ming shook his head, without delving too deep.

”Forget it, let’s not talk about it, at least I have some good news; with these new people, the Purgatory Core should yield results soon.”

Bai Quan’s tense demeanor eased a bit and he said: ”I’m very much looking forward to it.”

After Bai Quan left, a few members of the think tank also came to Chen Ming’s room.

Chen Ming had already prepared his comments beforehand, so upon seeing them, he directly said: ”Your ideas are feasible, but I need more detailed content.”

The think tank’s representative, Yan Ze, immediately said: ”Our understanding of your Spiritual Energy is currently limited. If you need more detailed content, you might need to conduct tests on the Spiritual Energy, or explain it more thoroughly.”

”I know, which is why we brought you over here. We have plenty of time to discuss tonight.”
