Chapter 704: After Modification: Chapter 212 Accidental Incident_3

There is no substantial evidence to prove this was man-made.

But considering the incidents that happened just two days ago, and the fact that the equipment decided to fail right now after all this time, these two points together.

It’s really hard not to suspect something.

Chen Ming firmly believes there’s no such thing as coincidence in this world.

He knew the issue wasn’t over, but he didn’t expect the second incident to occur so soon.

Initially, Chen Ming was considering whether to proactively trigger this danger, since he sensed the danger beforehand, and if he wanted, he could directly eliminate it.

Moreover, since this was happening on Bai Quan’s turf, any accident would make Bai Quan responsible.

Solving the problem invisibly would certainly be the best outcome for Bai Quan.

But in that moment when Chen Ming paused his actions, he realized that things might not be that straightforward for him.

Some events must happen to be properly investigated,

if something doesn’t happen, Vice Admiral Bai Quan wouldn’t have any legitimate reason to investigate an unmaterialized incident.

Therefore, considering the likelihood that these devices were brought by the incoming researchers, Chen Ming willingly chose to shoulder the risk.

However, with so many people watching, Chen Ming couldn’t openly say someone was orchestrating trouble.

He just wanted Bai Quan’s assistance, not to embarrass him.

So after stabilizing the situation, Chen Ming immediately connected to the broadcast system and announced: ”Do not panic, the issue has been resolved.”

”The electromagnetic restraint device had a component aging issue causing unstable voltage, creating output power discrepancies. The repair is complete, operations can continue.”

Chen Ming’s voice echoed through the slightly chaotic dome.

The researchers present were sharp and quickly regained composure.

Once confirming everything was fine, each returned to their posts to reinspect and recalibrate the equipment as if it was routine.

Although the Mechanical Race researchers seemed accustomed to such situations, and the Mechanical Race was indeed prone to issues,

Chen Ming still believed his suspicions were justified.

During the time taken to recalibrate the equipment, Chen Ming approached Bai Quan, who was on a call.

Bai Quan’s expression was now only cold. After Chen Ming approached, he immediately hung up and said, ”This is my responsibility.”

Bai Quan evidently shared the same thought as Chen Ming.

This incident wasn’t accidental; it was orchestrated by someone.

Chen Ming didn’t rush to accept Bai Quan’s assumption of responsibility but looked around for any nosy intruders before saying, ”Not necessarily.”

”Let me ask you a few questions. Did you bring these devices over from the headquarters?”

”Yes.”

Bai Quan promptly confirmed, just as Chen Ming guessed.

”And your side doesn’t have many Mechanical Race researchers, right?”

”Not many. Although you know the circumstances here, selecting representatives to join a conference and relocating an entire laboratory are different scenarios. We were already short on researchers and they are all quite busy.”

Chen Ming asked again, ”Did you inspect them?”

”The strictest port scanning was conducted.”

”Oh, then it’s a headquarters issue, not yours. It’s impossible for you to detect these equipment issues given your conditions.”

Chen Ming deftly diverted the blame from Bai Quan.

”So, it doesn’t seem like Hu Yi’s doing either; previously, they were already cautious and didn’t affect others. It’s unlikely they’d release such a dangerous mechanical body in a place with nearly a thousand people. Who do you think did it?”

”Who stands to gain? Who stands to lose? Whoever can secure deeper interests behind all this is likely the one responsible.”

”Do you have any ideas?”

”I have some inklings.”

”Alright, we’ll discuss it later; there are things to handle now.”

Chen Ming glanced at the place where over a thousand researchers were gathered not far away.

They were all quick-witted individuals, seemingly used to accidents occurring during Mechanical Race research,

and the Mechanical Race did not cause any impact just now, with no trampling incidents occurring.

The equipment recalibration was swift, and Chen Ming could soon start the second control of the Mechanical Race.

Bai Quan observed this and simply concurred, ”Indeed.”

After waiting for a while, Chen Ming suddenly asked, ”Where’s Director Wu?”

”He’s fine, just immediately protected by other researchers, and wasn’t frightened at all.”

”He’s the most high-profile person here, right?”

”Indeed.”

”Hmm, then those extra devices I saw outside the ones I initially ordered should have been brought in at his request.”

”Could you ask him who provided those devices to him, who dared to give him aging equipment?”

Upon hearing the word ”aging,” Bai Quan furrowed his brows and agreed, ”I’ll ask.”

After Bai Quan agreed, the two waited quietly for another ten minutes.

As the researchers on the other side began to gradually disperse, Chen Ming said, ”It’s about time. Let’s finish the task quickly; having so many people while I’m working makes me honestly a bit anxious.”

”Me too. Those who can attend are key figures in Mechanical Race research or contributors, losing even one is a loss.”

”Let’s speed it up.”

This time, as Chen Ming began the control of the Mechanical Race, no unexpected events occurred.
