Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 709: Chapter 213: Results and Invitation_4

So Chen Ming glanced at the original salaries of those researchers who were willing to come over, and there wasn’t a single one with a monthly salary below fifty thousand.

Earning a million a year was just the average.

If Chen Ming’s current assistants achieved any results based on his research, then Chen Ming would have to give them some rewards within the institute.

After all, Chen Ming was now considered the director of the Extraordinary Research Institute, and these researchers were all under the Extraordinary Research Institute.

The discoveries they made would naturally promote the name of the Extraordinary Research Institute.

Chen Ming definitely couldn’t avoid giving what should be given.

Of course, it’s possible not to give, but their legs belong to them.

They are capable individuals, and running away wouldn’t be difficult.

So everything that should be given must be given.

No big deal.

Bai Quan mentioned that as long as there were military merits in research, the regular monthly research funding would also increase.

If things really didn’t work out, and there was no way to make ends meet, Chen Ming could go to Bai Quan to ask for help.

Bai Quan would definitely give it.

With random thoughts in his mind, Chen Ming packed up his study materials and then got up to walk towards the door of his private rest room located on the second underground floor.

And when he pushed the door open, he saw someone standing at the entrance of the rest room.

Chen Ming suddenly couldn’t recall his name, because he was just someone Chen Ming had randomly picked who looked somewhat pleasing.

However, he still politely asked the person blocking his door, ”Is there something you need?”

The person blocking the door showed an apologetic look and said, ”Mr. Chen Ming, the Star Realm Government invites you to join their research institute.”

Chen Ming immediately frowned, and the face that looked decent just a moment ago suddenly became displeasing.

”Are you from the government?”

”Merely entrusted by someone.”

”So you’re a lobbyist? When did they reach out to you?”

”Yesterday.”

”Alright, I’ve received the message, you may leave now.”

The researcher in front of Chen Ming nodded slightly and then turned to leave Chen Ming’s side.

But before he took a few steps, the guards called by Chen Ming intercepted him not far away and took him out of the laboratory.

”Third time already...”

Chen Ming sighed as he watched the back of the disappearing guard; indeed, things cannot always go smoothly.

Chen Ming had anticipated that someone would come to interfere with him, and he didn’t expect these continuous annoyances.

Forget it.

As long as it didn’t touch his core interests, Chen Ming would selectively ignore these people.

Since he had come here, he was prepared to face various resistances.

Even though this resistance really shouldn’t have come, after all, he truly had no intention of joining the Fourteenth Legion.

But his actions somewhat conveyed this message.

So there was nothing else to be done.

But it didn’t matter.

Joining the war effort, the Fourteenth Legion is the simplest and quickest way.

Choosing a shortcut means taking on some risk.

After the researcher was escorted out, Chen Ming soon received the instructor for the afternoon.

Afternoon teaching proceeded as usual.

And in the evening.

Bai Quan, as before, came personally to see Chen Ming.

They met in Chen Ming’s rest room arranged on the second underground floor.

In front of Chen Ming, Bai Quan wasn’t bothered to maintain that cold, aloof demeanor of his, his face clearly expressing displeasure.

”The equipment sent by the headquarters has problems, the people brought by the headquarters have problems, is there anything that the headquarters doesn’t have problems with?”

”At least the Mechanical Race they sent isn’t problematic, the fresh ones can still breathe fire.”

Chen Ming’s sudden joke didn’t make Bai Quan laugh; instead, he became more silent.

It made Chen Ming unsure of what to say, until after a long pause, he asked, ”Was that person from a subordinate research institute of the Fourteenth Legion? Are there spies in the Fourteenth Legion headquarters as well?”

”There always are, there’s no avoiding it.”

After Bai Quan spoke, he sank back into a long silence, looking vaguely a bit despondent.

Completely unlike the spirited Bai Quan Chen Ming saw not long ago.
