After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 168: Chapter 169: Next Time, It’s on You【1】

”But I also don’t make a habit of letting men treat me to dinner!” Luo Xiaoqian took out her wallet, ”How much is it? I’ll pay you back!”

Jiao Yang put his hands in his pockets, looking at her serious expression, ”In that case, how about next time, you treat!”

With that, he had already strode out of the restaurant.

Luo Xiaoqian, feeling helpless, could only clutch her wallet and chase after him.

”Then it’s settled, next time, I’ll definitely treat!” she called out to him.

”Sure!” Jiao Yang agreed with a smile.

Luo Xiaoqian returned his smile, then opened her wallet to stuff the photo she was holding back inside.

Just then, the elevator doors opened, and two teenagers rushed out. One of them brushed past her injured hand, causing her to drop the photo and wallet in pain.

The money from her wallet scattered instantly, and the photograph somersaulted in the air before drifting towards the fish pond decoration by the elevator.

”My photo!”

As the photo slipped from her grasp, Luo Xiaoqian exclaimed in alarm and rushed over desperately. She reached out with her right hand and managed to grab the photo before it hit the water.

Standing up straight, holding the photo she had just recovered, she turned and smiled at Jiao Yang, then walked back. Unwittingly, she stepped on a coin that had fallen out, her high heel slid, and she stumbled forward.

”Be careful!” Jiao Yang stepped forward and caught her falling body, carefully straightening her up, ”Are you alright?”

”I’m fine!” Luo Xiaoqian stood up and gave him a reassuring smile, then squatted down to pick up her wallet from the floor.

”Let me do it!” Jiao Yang also squatted down quickly, stopping her injured hand. He carefully picked up the money from the ground, organized it, put it back into the wallet, and then handed it to her.

The elevator doors happened to open again, and the two of them stepped inside together.

Leaning against the transparent elevator wall, Jiao Yang remarked, ”That photo seems very important to you!”

”It’s the only photo I have with my dad!” Luo Xiaoqian cherished the photo, placing it into a compartment and carefully closing the wallet’s clasp before putting the wallet into her handbag, ”He... passed away!”

”I’m sorry!” Jiao Yang showed remorse.

”It’s nothing, it’s been a long time, I’m used to it!” Luo Xiaoqian smiled, but a tinge of sorrow still flashed in her eyes.

Only after the elevator carrying the two became out of sight did the paparazzi, hiding in the shadows, stand up from behind a nearby potted plant. Looking through the photos he’d just snapped, he grinned at the one where Jiao Yang was supporting Luo Xiaoqian, and the Renowned Reporter’s face immediately lit up with a smile.

”I never expected such an unexpected scoop this time, that this guy is actually acquainted with Luo Xiaoqian. This photo is good enough for the headline news!”

...

...

Downstairs.

Jiao Yang and Luo Xiaoqian walked out of the elevator together.

”My car is over there, shall I drive you back?” Jiao Yang asked with a smile.

”No need!” Luo Xiaoqian quickly gestured with her hand, ”I already feel bad that you paid today, and besides, I was planning to walk around the area a bit!”

For one thing, she never liked to trouble others, and for another, she didn’t think she knew him well enough to casually accept a ride from him yet.

”Alright then!” Jiao Yang, seeing her embarrassment, did not insist further, ”In that case, as I said before, anytime you change your mind, feel free to call me!”
