After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Take Medicine [8]

”Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I deliberately chose not to wear it!” Seeing him furrow his brows, Luo Xiaoqian thought he was angry, so she quickly explained, ”The dress is beautiful, but somebody deliberately spilled juice on it yesterday, so that’s why I didn’t wear it...”

Leng Zimo set down the document in his hand, and leisurely walked up to her.

She instinctively took a step back, ”I’ll take it to the wash in a bit, and next time I go on stage, I’ll definitely wear it...”

Lifting his hand, he took the large delivery box from her and casually tossed the dress aside, and with one reach of his arm, he enclosed her waist and pulled her into an embrace.

”From now on, you don’t need to be so cautious around me, just be yourself!”

His chest was broad and solid, and the palm of his hand resting on her waist and back was so warm, as was the sound of his voice, uncharacteristically gentle.

In his arms, she felt as secure as when she was a child embraced by her father.

Peaceful.

With her face against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, her hands hesitated for a moment but eventually rose to gently wrap around his waist.

”Thank you, Zimo!”

Thank you for everything you’ve done for me!

The human heart is made of flesh; only a heart of stone would not be moved by all he had done for her.

For a long time.

The two of them didn’t speak, just held each other quietly until Leng Zimo’s phone on the office desk suddenly rang.

Luo Xiaoqian returned to her senses, hurried to let go of his waist, and stepped away from his embrace.

”I’ll be going then!” She turned and ran towards the door, took a few steps, then turned back, picked up the box containing the gown from the floor, ”I’ll take it to the dry cleaner!”

Watching her flee the office with a flushed face, Leng Zimo smiled, then turned to walk over to the desk and pick up the phone.

”Hello!”

”What is it, you sound in good spirits, don’t you?!” Shen Yizhou’s voice came through, laced with laughter.

”Something up?” Leng Zimo sat back down in his chair, flipping open the file again.

”Nothing major, just wanted to check if Luo Xiaoqian had a fever or anything since her injury was on her hand. The wound was pretty deep, and I’m afraid just taking anti-inflammatory drugs might not be enough. If she shows any signs of fever or anything, remember to bring her to the hospital for an IV!”

Fever?!

When he had held her just now, he hadn’t noticed anything amiss.

”It should be fine!” Leng Zimo put down the folder, ”Did you prescribe her the anti-inflammatory drugs?”

”Of course, I did. She took them with her yesterday, it’s a small white bottle, to be taken twice a day, one pill at a time!”

”Damn it!” Leng Zimo cursed under his breath.

After he brought her back yesterday, she didn’t take the medicine and just went to sleep, and this morning he had rushed her so much that the girl didn’t even think to remember.

”Hey, what’s wrong with you? I’m kindly reminding you, and you’re upset?” Shen Yizhou said indignantly from the other end of the phone.

”It’s nothing, bye!” Leng Zimo couldn’t be bothered to talk more, decisively hanging up the phone and grabbing the car keys from the desk, he walked out of the office while dialing Luo Xiaoqian’s number, ”Where are you?!”

”Just got out of the elevator, what’s up?!” Luo Xiaoqian’s voice came from the phone.

”Head straight to the underground parking lot and wait for me!” He ordered and stepped into the elevator.

Listening to the dial tone on the phone, Luo Xiaoqian shrugged her shoulders, re-entered the elevator, went down to the parking lot, and made her way to the high-level elevator. She had just positioned herself when she saw Leng Zimo stride out of the elevator and upon spotting her, without a word, his hand landed on her forehead.
