Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 701: Chapter 364: Shifting Disaster Eastward (Part 2)

He pointed at the Tesla behind them.

Lawrence Winters saw it too but pretended not to and smiled, saying, ”I’m walking home to get some exercise. It’s just a twenty-minute walk from here to my house, much faster than waiting for a taxi. I just tried to hail a cab, and they said I had to wait fifty minutes! It’s ridiculous!”

Edward Foster was convinced that Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne were having a conflict, but he didn’t openly say it. He grabbed Lawrence Winters’ arm, frowned, and said, ”Enough with the walking, the roads are dusty, with cars coming and going, it’s not safe. Let me give you a ride.”

Without any room for argument, he pulled Lawrence Winters towards the parking lot.

His car was parked over there.

Lawrence Winters hurriedly broke free from him and shook her head, saying, ”Really, there’s no need. I can walk home myself.”

Kenneth Osborne never liked her interacting with Edward Foster outside of work, and now the two were tugging at each other on the street. Lawrence Winters knew Kenneth Osborne was watching her from inside the car. She had no intention of using Edward Foster to make Kenneth Osborne jealous, thus she firmly refused.

However, Edward Foster was determined to irritate Kenneth Osborne and would certainly not let her walk away on her own.

While the two were entangled, Kenneth Osborne had already emerged from his car with a stern face.

He walked quickly towards Lawrence Winters and Edward Foster, raised his fist, and swung it at Edward Foster’s side face!

Lawrence Winters caught sight of it from the corner of her eye and hurriedly reached out to block, then reversed Kenneth Osborne’s wrist grip, applying slight pressure to neutralize that force.

Kenneth Osborne used the momentum to pull Lawrence Winters over to his side.

By the time Edward Foster realized something was amiss and turned around, Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne had already exchanged two moves.

Edward Foster had no idea that he just narrowly escaped the misfortune of being punched by Kenneth Osborne. He just looked at Kenneth Osborne in surprise and said, ”Mr. Osborne, why are you here?”

”I’m here to take my wife home; do you have any issues with that, Mr. Foster?” Kenneth Osborne responded coldly, almost unable to maintain his composure.

”No, not at all. But I’ve never seen a husband who blocks his wife’s phone number, so I’m quite surprised that you’re calling our Manager Winters your wife.” Edward Foster intentionally provoked Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne immediately assumed that Lawrence Winters had told Edward Foster about the blocking incident.

Though it was true, it was a private matter between the couple. Telling someone outside about such intimate details, and she claimed she was clear with Edward Foster?

Kenneth Osborne clenched his fist, his eyes nearly ablaze with anger, and gritted his teeth, ”Regardless, we are legally married, and I hope Mr. Foster would respect the marriage law!”

”What’s wrong with the marriage law? So getting the certificate is impressive? Mr. Osborne, the marriage law states that there’s freedom to marry, and also freedom to divorce. What, just because you have a certificate, your wife is yours for life? Do you understand how to respect your spouse?”

Edward Foster was extremely arrogant, acting as if he was defending Lawrence Winters, even pointing his finger at Kenneth Osborne’s chest.

Kenneth Osborne swatted his hand away with a loud slap.

Edward Foster flinched from the pain, angrily saying, ”Can’t win an argument, so you resort to fighting?! I never expected this from you, Mr. Osborne!”

Lawrence Winters was also worried that if Kenneth Osborne really harmed Edward Foster, it would be hard to resolve.

She knew Kenneth Osborne was trained well in martial arts, while Edward Foster, this rich gentleman, at most did some fitness exercises, unlikely to work hard on boxing.

She hurriedly grabbed Edward Foster’s arm, rolling up the sleeve to check where Kenneth Osborne had hit him.

Fortunately, it was only a bit red; there should be no serious problem.

Lawrence Winters sighed in relief and turned to Kenneth Osborne, saying, ”Let’s talk it out, what are you doing?”

Edward Foster quickly put down his sleeve, saying, ”I’m fine, but Mr. Osborne is too domineering, always ready to fight, and it’s only because Lawrence knows martial arts, otherwise I’d really worry he’d beat you when you get home...”

The intent of these words to sow discord was too obvious.

Lawrence Winters glared at him but still defended Kenneth Osborne: ”Kenneth isn’t like that, Mr. Foster, please don’t make wild assumptions.”

Saying Kenneth Osborne as ”Kenneth,” while it’s ”Mr. Foster” here, the closeness was evident.

Edward Foster felt jealous again.

Kenneth Osborne’s face didn’t look very good either.

He held back again and again, speaking to Lawrence Winters with a slightly stiff expression, ”...Let’s go home, I’ll drive you.”

Lawrence Winters pressed her lips together, thinking she should at least give Kenneth Osborne face.

In front of outsiders, especially with Edward Foster waiting to see Kenneth Osborne’s embarrassment...

Lawrence Winters lowered her eyes, ready to turn around and follow him, when she heard a familiar voice coming from behind.

”Kenneth! Kenneth! Why are you here? I’ve been waiting for you for a long time!”

Lawrence Winters looked up and saw Kenneth’s parents jogging over.

Parked under the shade on the opposite street was a discreet Lexus sedan, with the back door open, likely the car Kenneth’s parents were using.

The couple ran to Kenneth Osborne’s side, excitedly speaking to him, telling him they went to his company but couldn’t find him. They heard he was at the Foster Consortium picking up Lawrence Winters from work, so they hurried over here.

After Kenneth’s mother finished her chatter, she noticed the silent Lawrence Winters standing to the side.

Today Lawrence Winters was wearing her business suit with ten-centimeter heels, at least a head taller than Kenneth’s mother.

Seeing Kenneth’s mother look over, Lawrence Winters didn’t greet, merely nodded faintly in acknowledgment.

Upon seeing her, Kenneth’s mother immediately recalled what Cameron Spencer had told her and quickly said, ”That’s Lawrence, right? Long time no see, you’ve become quite successful! But even with your success, you can’t just turn your back on people, right? I heard you kicked Kenneth out of the partnership?”

Is it a sister that didn’t work, now it’s the parents’ strategy?

Lawrence Winters wasn’t annoyed, cheerfully countering, ”Not at all, nothing like that... Who did you hear it from?”

”I heard it from his brother-in-law! Could it possibly be wrong?” Kenneth’s mother was suspicious. In her mind, someone like Cameron Spencer, a big boss, wouldn’t lie to her. But it was hard to say; she didn’t trust Cameron as much as Brooke Osborne did.

”Oh, no wonder.” Lawrence Winters unhesitatingly shifted the blame in front of Kenneth Osborne and also pulled Brooke Osborne into it, ”Kenneth’s sister and brother-in-law had long set their eyes on this piece of land; otherwise, why would such a big boss specifically come to Capital City? He just wanted to kick both Kenneth and me out and develop the entire plot himself, but I saw through it and kicked them out instead. They hold resentment and deliberately come to you to make trouble for me; don’t believe them.”
