Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 742: Chapter 383: The Benchmark of Peerless Beauty (Second Update)

”Oh... this... is someone else’s birthday party...” Lawrence Winters blinked, suddenly feeling a little apprehensive.

It seemed like there was some tension between her and Ruby Sheldon...

”I see, but don’t worry. I’ll give you an amulet, wear it well and you’ll be fine.” The old Daoist said, quickly walking back to his room to fetch a Tianhuang stone pendant necklace.

”This is your life star, the True Lord of Fortune.” The old Daoist placed the small carp-shaped Tianhuang stone pendant around Lawrence’s neck and smiled, ”The Fortune Star belongs to earth, so carving it from Tianhuang stone from rice fields doubles the effect.”

”And since the Fortune Star belongs to earth, it governs financial fortune and can turn bad luck into good, being the luckiest of the lucky. You were born at a time when the True Lord of Fortune was on duty, which is also your life’s Guardian Star, so you’ll never lack for money in life and possess a powerful fortune that enhances prosperity and reduces misfortune.”

Lawrence blinked, ”...My life star is the True Lord of Fortune? But I calculated...”

”You’re wrong, only your grandmaster’s calculations are correct.” The old Daoist sternly corrected Lawrence, ”Do you believe your own calculations or mine?”

”Of course it’s Grandmaster Grandpa.” Lawrence quickly said, smiling happily, ”Did you think I wouldn’t want the True Lord of Fortune as my life star? I dream about it!”

”With the True Lord of Fortune as my life star, not only will I have money my whole life, but I can also make others rich! Just like a little carp in the Celestial Path Sect!”

Lawrence touched the Fortune Lord pendant on her neck, beaming brightly.

And the embodiment of the True Lord of Fortune was indeed a carp, so the pendant was in the shape of a small carp.

The craftsmanship was exquisite, lifelike, and that sidelong glance bore some resemblance to Lawrence’s mischievous look.

Lawrence instantly fell in love with this little pendant.

Most Tianhuang stones are made into seals or ornamental pieces, and pendants are uncommon.

A Tianhuang stone pendant shaped like a carp is probably one-of-a-kind.

The chain of the pendant is 24K pure gold, though it’s a bit aged, not very bright yellow, but somewhat rich in hue, complementing the Tianhuang stone of the pendant well.

The chain wasn’t long either, fitting Lawrence’s neck like a choker.

The lively little carp pendant lay neatly in the hollow where her collarbones met.

The more Lawrence looked at it, the more she liked it, immediately running back to her room to open the wardrobe and find an outfit to match the little carp choker made of Tianhuang stone.

She rummaged through her wardrobe all morning but couldn’t find anything suitable.

Her clothes were either in red-purple tones or blue-white tones, lacking orange-yellow tones, making it hard to match the small carp pendant of Tianhuang stone.

In the end, it was Edward Foster’s call that rescued her.

”Lawrence, my mom will come pick you up at four this afternoon to try on clothes, then we’ll go together to the Wells Residence Garden of the Sheldon Family. Don’t eat too much at lunch; I heard they invited the highest Michelin-rated chef team from abroad, specially brought back for the Sheldon family’s little princess’ twenty-first birthday.”

Lawrence felt her mouth water at once.

She licked her lips, saying eagerly, ”That good? I better have a good western meal then. I haven’t had many great western dishes, and I hope this time will open this country bumpkin’s eyes!”

”It really can be worth looking forward to. I had the chance to taste this chef’s cuisine once abroad; it was really good. He’s a rare talented foreign chef who knows how to utilize the ingredient’s flavor without relying on various cheeses and tomato sauces.” Edward Foster praised the chef enthusiastically.

Lawrence looked forward to it even more, but when it came to Mrs. Foster taking her to try on clothes again, she felt a bit embarrassed.

”Mr. Little Foster, Mrs. Foster already gave me a set of clothes last time, there’s no need this time... I can pay for it myself.” Lawrence said modestly.

Edward knew she’d recently made a small fortune and could afford it, but he wouldn’t want to split the bill when taking his beloved girl out for dinner.

”It’s just a set of clothes, do you want to argue with me over it?” Edward Foster said with a half-smile, ”If you feel bad, then in a few days, treat me, my mom, and my dad to a meal, or we can eat at your place.”

Lawrence did a quick calculation; if she treated Edward, Mrs. Foster, and Mr. Foster to a meal at a fancy restaurant, the cost would be about the same as a high-end dress.

”...Alright then, let’s set a time in a few days, and I’ll treat your whole family to dinner.” Lawrence nodded.
