Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 704: Chapter 365: Good Causes and Good Consequences (Second Update, October Monthly Ticket 2400+)

Kenneth Osborne nodded, closed the elevator door, and went upstairs.

Spring Spencer turned around and left to find her car in the parking lot and drove home.

Kenneth Osborne returned to the office, and everyone was halfway through their meal.

Seeing him come back, everyone greeted him, and the atmosphere was still very congenial.

These people were all recruited by him personally. Although most were recent graduates with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, each one was extremely smart and had excellent academic records. Kenneth Osborne had high hopes for their abilities.

But sometimes, academic ability and work ability are two different things.

He needed to figure out what was going on.

Smiling, he greeted everyone and said, ”It’s getting late today, just go home after finishing the pizza. Whatever’s left, you can do it tomorrow.”

The big boss had spoken, and cheers erupted in the hall.

The mood that had been gloomy all day finally brightened.

Kenneth Osborne grabbed a slice of pizza, eating as he walked back to his office.

Then he called the project manager in.

The project manager was furious that the programmers, who hadn’t completed their tasks, were actually leaving for home on time.

As soon as Kenneth Osborne called him, he rushed into the CEO’s office and angrily said, ”Mr. Osborne, how am I supposed to do my job like this?”

”It’s okay, it’s okay, have a seat first.” Kenneth Osborne smiled slightly, pointing to the chair opposite his desk.

The project manager sat down and started to vent, ”I told you over the phone, tomorrow is the performance review, and none of them passed! Yet you let them leave early! You’re too lenient with them; they don’t even know their place anymore!”

”Back at the big company I used to work for, one of the top in the industry, employees never left before midnight! Everyone...”

Kenneth Osborne smirked and said, ”Manager Hu, I read your report, and I think you haven’t adapted your work mindset yet.”

”Our company needs programmers to engage their brains and write codes; it’s creative work. It’s not like your previous company, where programmers did repetitive tasks, completing projects simply by spending time.”

”So the project schedule you made for them is completely unrealistic.”

Manager Hu, who had switched from a big company, was struggling to adapt, and he repeatedly said, ”How is it unrealistic? Given their high salaries, they should be working overtime! I said they need to finish this robot simulation program in two weeks, and they have to do it!”

Kenneth Osborne looked at him, shook his head, and said coolly, ”...The project schedule you made, even I can’t complete it. Manager Hu, go back and think about it. I’ll handle their performance review.”

Manager Hu was at a loss for words, stunned by Kenneth Osborne.

Seeing that Kenneth Osborne was starting to get a bit upset, he didn’t dare to argue with him and awkwardly said, ”I’ll leave it to you, Mr. Osborne. I’ll make sure to learn from you.”

After Manager Hu left, Kenneth Osborne was in the office alone, working on the performance review sheets for all the company’s programmers.

He not only had to score each of them but also evaluate their specific performance, pointing out their shortcomings and also praising their achievements.

With more than fifty programmers in the company, he spent ten minutes on each review sheet, which amounted to over five hundred minutes, or more than eight hours.

When he finished filling out all the performance review sheets, it was past 5 a.m. the next day.

Another full night’s work.

Exhausted, he finally couldn’t hold on any longer and lay down on his desk for a nap.

Until the phone rang and startled him awake.

He checked his watch, it was 6:30 a.m. He had slept for just over an hour.

The phone showed an incoming call from Spring Spencer.

He was a bit surprised and answered, ”Mr. Spencer, is there something urgent so early?”

”I saw your car in the parking lot; you didn’t go home last night, did you? Did you work all night?” Spring Spencer’s voice was brisk and clear, with a touch of husky undertone.

Kenneth Osborne rubbed his eyes and said casually, ”Something came up yesterday, and it got too late, so I slept at the office.”

At startups like this, especially in the high-tech sector, they have simple beds and showers for employees to use when they are too tired from working overtime.

Spring Spencer didn’t doubt him and laughed, ”That’s okay, but I’ve always said you shouldn’t do everything yourself. As the company owner, you need to find competent managers to handle tasks for you. If you try to do everything, you’ll work yourself to death.”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t feel it before. Although he had run a small company during college, it was nothing like the current scale.

The company had more than fifty programmers alone, not to mention other technical talents, with too many things to worry about.

And precisely because it’s a startup, finding the right management talent is not an easy task.

Since he got licensed with Lawrence Winters, Kenneth Osborne had devoted all his energy to his company.

This was his career, and it was also his impatience to show his capabilities in front of Lawrence Winters.

Compared to the rich second-generation kids around Lawrence Winters, he had no way out, no shortcuts, only relying on his intelligence and hard work to have a chance to catch up with those people.

But managing and writing programs are indeed two different things.
