Lawrence Winters snorted, forcing a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, ”Oh, Kenneth, you’re quite something. Look at you, lying without even blinking. Do you think I’ll believe you? — It’s not like I’ve never blocked someone before. Do you think I don’t know what it’s like to be blocked?”

From ’Yuan-ge’ to Kenneth Osborne, and now ’Kenneth’, the way he was addressed had changed dramatically, and soon it would be as distant as the horizon.

Kenneth Osborne had been busy the whole day, and his mind was filled with matters from the company. He had no desire to argue further with Lawrence Winters, so he said flatly, ”Why admit to something that isn’t true? Enough, come down quickly. If I park here any longer, the police will issue a parking ticket.”

”Still won’t admit it?” Lawrence Winters tugged at the corners of his mouth, ”Well, with such a temper, whoever wants to pamper you can do so, but this lady won’t accompany you!”

Kenneth Osborne sighed, closed his eyes for a moment, and conceded, ”Alright, it’s my fault, but I’m doing it for your own good, to prevent you from saying things in anger that you might regret later.”

”So you’re admitting it?” Lawrence Winters retorted, using Kenneth Osborne’s tone against him, ”Don’t try to scare me with your lofty principles. Whether it’s for my own good, I know that myself. There’s no need for you to worry, and no need for you to pick me up. Tell you what, you go back to your own home, and I’ll go to mine. That way, we won’t argue when we see each other, and you won’t do something in anger that you might regret yourself, right?”

Kenneth Osborne’s brow furrowed in anger, ”Nora! Don’t be so capricious! We can talk about it when we get home, why must you...”

”No, I don’t want to go home with you.” After saying this, Lawrence Winters promptly hung up the phone and blocked Kenneth Osborne’s number.

After blocking his number, Lawrence Winters felt relieved.

But she still had to go home, so she took out her phone to call a cab, deciding that starting tomorrow, she’d drive Nick Zeller’s Grand Cherokee herself to avoid this hassle.

No matter what Kenneth Osborne thought, she would just do what made her happy!

She had compromised to make him happy for so long.

But during this after-work rush hour, there were so many people calling for rides, and the traffic was especially congested. The estimated waiting time she saw on the ride-hailing app was fifty minutes!

She might as well walk home!

Thinking this, Lawrence Winters slung her bag over her shoulder and walked out of the office.

As she entered the elevator, Edward Foster caught up, smiling, ”Lawrence, leaving work?”

Lawrence Winters nodded, ”Edward, you’re getting off work too?”

”Yeah, is Kenneth picking you up again?” Edward Foster made a face, ”When are you two going to have the wedding reception? The little sports car I want to give you is growing impatient.”

Lawrence Winters chuckled, pressing the elevator button, and mumbled under her breath, ”Reception? It’s good enough if we’re still together, let alone having a reception...”

Edward Foster’s eyes flickered.

He had happened to pass by Lawrence Winters’ office today and heard clearly when she was arguing with Kenneth Osborne over the phone.

He smiled, ”...What’s wrong? Is it that Kenneth doesn’t want to have the reception? Give me his number, and I’ll have a talk with him.”

”Edward, you really care a lot about your employees, but it’s nothing serious. I was just joking.” Lawrence Winters grinned, trying to brush it off, ”You’ve been even busier lately, I didn’t expect that you majored in architecture in college.”

”The Foster Consortium was founded on the construction industry. The Foster Family’s children, whether they like it or not, have to major in architecture during college.” Edward Foster sighed, ”Even if we don’t work in construction after graduation, studying architecture in college is a must. It’s part of the family rules set by the old man.”

Lawrence Winters found it amusing, teasing, ”What era are we in? And still with family rules... I don’t believe every child in your family obediently follows them.”

”They don’t have to be obedient.” Edward Foster chuckled, ”But then, the family inheritance rights have nothing to do with them. That’s one of the clauses left behind in the great-grandfather’s trust fund.”

”Oh, I see, well if that’s the case, someone would study architecture even if it kills them.” Lawrence Winters laughed.

The elevator reached the first floor, and Lawrence Winters and Edward Foster walked out of the lobby of the Foster Consortium together.

Standing on the steps in front of the building, Lawrence Winters waved goodbye to Edward Foster with a smile, then walked down the steps without looking back.

Edward Foster had initially thought that Lawrence Winters would walk towards the Tesla parked not far below the steps, which belonged to Kenneth Osborne.

But Lawrence Winters, as if she didn’t even see it, stepped onto the pedestrian sidewalk by the road.

Edward Foster raised an eyebrow, thought for a moment, and decided to catch up, ”Lawrence! Why are you...”
