Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 725: Chapter 375: Playing Hard to Get

Lawrence Winters quickly said, ”Little Mr. Foster, shouldn’t there be some extra reward for such a product that exceeded expectations by so much?—This is the drama king!”

Edward Foster laughed heartily and said, ”Of course! I’ll first pay the remaining balance! If it really sells as the drama king, I’ll double the special effects production fee!”

This Xianxia drama was co-produced by Blue Heavy Industries and NewHuman Corporation, with Blue Heavy Industries investing two hundred million and NewHuman Corporation investing one hundred million.

Later, because of Ruby Sheldon, Lawrence Winters leveraged Aiden Sheldon to get a ten million compensation from Autumn Stetford.

So the total production fee is three hundred and ten million.

To create a truly stunning Xianxia drama, the crew reserved one hundred million exclusively for the special effects production.

This expense isn’t much for overseas blockbusters, but for the domestic market where fifty million can produce five urban web series, it’s already considered a hefty investment.

Now, with Edward Foster agreeing to double the fee if it sells at a high price, it means Kenneth Osborne can earn a total of two hundred million.

And this was achieved within just five weeks of time.

Lawrence Winters was extremely delighted upon hearing this and quickly said, ”Well, I’ve taken note of this, should we sign a letter of intent to confirm what Little Mr. Foster said?”

Edward Foster saw how Lawrence Winters was standing up for Kenneth Osborne and felt a twinge of jealousy, disguised by a yawn, ”We’ll sign it tomorrow! Tomorrow it is!”

Kenneth Osborne handed the drama storage card to Edward Foster with a smile, saying, ”Little Mr. Foster, you’d better keep this safe; it’s worth two hundred million.”

Edward Foster was suddenly wide awake, all traces of tiredness vanished.

He patted Kenneth Osborne on the shoulder, ”Thank you, Mr. Osborne, let’s see if we can make it a huge success this time!”

Kenneth Osborne gave a slight smile, shook hands to say goodbye, and left with Lawrence Winters to head home.

This time, they didn’t return to Lawrence Winters’ family home with the big flat, but went back to the three-bedroom Kenneth Osborne purchased.

The two finally reconciled, rediscovering love after a short separation.

...

Three days later, Edward Foster took Lawrence Winters, along with the company’s sales director and legal team’s lawyers, to attend the biggest TV drama trade festival of the year.

They had hired a professional company to recreate a very classic Xianxia-styled booth, in line with scenes from the drama, and began looping the drama’s opening and ending theme songs.

The production companies exhibiting their TV dramas here almost all cut the essence of their films into trailers for display.

The buyers from major TV networks and online platforms wandered between booths, searching for new dramas to capture their interest.

These days, audiences are getting more discerning; those poorly made dramas are publicly ridiculed across the internet. Not only do they lose money, but they also heavily tarnish the broadcasting platform’s reputation.

So now, they clutch their wallets tightly, wishing for Sun Wukong’s fiery eyes to see which are mere show-offs relying on trailers to deceive, and which ones are genuinely substantial, finishing their annual buying assignment.

During everyone’s wandering, NewHuman Corporation’s booth quickly caught everyone’s attention.

Because the company was only playing the opening and ending theme songs!

There was no more audacious move than this company’s.

A few buyers from TV stations familiar with Edward Foster jokingly said, ”Little Mr. Foster, haven’t you filmed it yet? Planning to use two songs to snatch money from thin air?”

”You dare call it a wolf? At most, it’s a husky!” Edward Foster laughed out loud, ”Come and see our company’s major work this year! The last project before the famous star Lucas Harlow retires, a grand Xianxia drama!”

Immediately, the top screen of the pyramid-like stack of players behind him began showing a five-minute highlight of the male and female leads’ confession scenes.

Those buyers who initially showed indifferent interest towards NewHuman Corporation’s work started paying attention.

Since Xianxia dramas tend to be easily poorly made.

The frequently ridiculed in domestic circles were the ”fifty-cent effects” of Xianxia dramas, where every frame was embarrassingly poor.

However, without special effects, even a well-written and well-acted Xianxia drama lacks that something extra to excite viewers, which in turn affects viewership.

Who would want to broadcast something that feels so lackluster?

Full of boring moments, constant channel switching mid-thought.

But after watching the five-minute confession, their minds went blank.

Each almost posed the three existential questions to themselves: Who am I? Where am I? What did I just see?

Edward Foster was very satisfied with their reactions, chuckling, he simply let the five-minute loop, saying with a smile, ”Let me tell you, the post-production special effects for the entire Xianxia drama are of this quality. If you don’t believe me, pay a deposit, and I’ll let you preview an episode. If any episode’s effects are subpar, I’ll refund double the deposit!”

He pounded his chest with an earth-shattering confidence, exuding absolute assurance.

Several buyers from TV stations looked at each other and almost simultaneously lunged forward to grab Edward Foster.

”I’ll pay a fifty thousand deposit!”

”I’ll pay a hundred thousand!”

”Two hundred thousand! Two episodes!”

”Five hundred thousand! First rights purchase!”

The buyers here were eagerly bidding, just for the deposit prices.

This had never happened at a TV drama trade fair before.

Because the TV drama market was always a buyer’s market, a situation where drama production companies had to grovel, exhaust every mean including bribery, just to hope for some attention from TV and online platforms.

Never had a situation occurred where buyers were begging to pay deposits just for a glimpse of the TV drama.

With this commotion here, everyone in the hall saw it and became curious too.

More and more people gathered around, and those who saw the five-minute special effects became numerous.

Everyone was equally astonished beyond words, their mouths agape, like a gaggle of geese being squeezed by the neck, heads held aloft.

Some people, because they liked the five-minute clip so much, began to think NewHuman Corporation was playing hard to get, convinced that the five minutes were deliberately edited to sell for a higher price.

The rest of the content surely must be poorly made!

They’d seen such tactics many times before!

Edward Foster didn’t argue with them.

His stance remained: pay the deposit, and he would choose two lucky buyers for an immediate episode preview.

With competitive bidding to occur within three days.

It was a seller’s market.
