Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 716: Chapter 371: Intimate Demonstration (Second Update, Please Vote Monthly)

Lawrence Winters had no choice but to turn around and head to the glass door of AI Vision Promise Headquarters, pressing the doorbell once more.

This was, after all, the headquarters, with a dedicated receptionist. She pressed a button, and the door opened.

Lawrence Winters walked inside.

The receptionist stood up and asked her, ”Who are you? Do you have an appointment?”

Lawrence Winters smiled and said, ”I don’t have an appointment, but I’m the manager in charge of special effects production at NewHuman Corporation. My last name is Winters. Your company has taken on a project from us, and I’m here to check on the progress.”

”Oh, please wait a moment. I’ll ask the technical director from that side. It’s about special effects production, right?” The receptionist politely confirmed and then called the technical director on the other side.

The office of the special effects branch was right across from their headquarters, both companies sharing the same front desk.

The technical director on that side was astonished when he heard that Lawrence Winters had already arrived. ”So fast?! She just called and said she’d come by; it’s been less than three minutes! Could it be that she had already arrived when she called me?”

The receptionist laughed and said, ”I wouldn’t know, just tell me if you had an appointment with her.”

”No, of course not. I told her to come next week,” the technical director said somewhat guiltily.

But remembering it was Kenneth’s order, he straightened his back.

The receptionist acknowledged and, hanging up the phone, awkwardly told Lawrence Winters, ”I’m sorry, Manager Winters. Our Director Jiang said he already scheduled you for next week, and there’s no appointment today, so you can’t see him.”

”Is that so?” Lawrence had anticipated this. ”Could you call him again? I’d like to speak with him.”

”Isn’t that a bit improper?” The receptionist was there precisely to handle people who showed up without an appointment, so she certainly wasn’t going to use her phone to call the technical director again.

Seeing her reluctance, Lawrence didn’t pressure her but took out her phone and directly dialed the technical director’s number.

The technical director answered, chuckling, ”Manager Winters, right? I’m really sorry, but we arranged for next week...”

”Who scheduled for next week with you?” Lawrence’s voice suddenly turned icy, sharp like ice hanging from the eaves in the extreme northern winter, ready to pierce through you, ”I said I want to check the progress now. Do you have something to hide that you won’t let me see?”

The technical director grimaced, ”Manager Winters, what’s that supposed to mean? Doesn’t everyone make an appointment before visiting someone else’s company? You...”

”Director Jiang, get it straight. I’m the client, and I decide when to check the project progress. Our contract clearly states that at the midpoint of the project, the client has the right to review all progress of the contractor. You haven’t proactively submitted it, which is already a breach of contract. Now I’m here to review it personally, and you keep stalling? Do you want to pay the penalties? Fine, I’ll make sure you do.”

Lawrence had an excellent memory and almost recited the contract terms verbatim.

The technical director was almost scared out of his wits and quickly said, ”Please don’t be angry, Manager Winters. This was on Kenneth’s orders, and he said to let you come next week. I thought you and Kenneth, as an engaged couple, had already discussed it...”

This was someone who knew about Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne’s relationship.

Playing the personal card now?

Why didn’t he remember she was Kenneth Osborne’s fiancée when rejecting her earlier?—In fact, they were married, but they had agreed not to go public until their wedding banquet.

Feeling angry inside, Lawrence said indifferently, ”Is that so? Kenneth said that? Fine, I’ll go ask him now.”

She hung up and directly told the receptionist, ”I want to see your Kenneth.”

The receptionist found it even more amusing, ”Manager Winters, you can’t just see Kenneth whenever you want. You need an appointment. But just a reminder, Kenneth’s schedule is already booked up until next year. If you try to make an appointment now, you’ll have to wait until next year.”

Lawrence also laughed, extending her left hand to show her ring and said, ”Let me remind you, I am Kenneth’s... fiancée. Can I still not go in?”

The receptionist was immediately stumped, ”Fiancée? You’re Lawrence Winters?!”

It seemed that everyone at Kenneth Osborne’s company knew he had a fiancée named Lawrence Winters, just not familiar with her appearance.

But that was understandable; Kenneth Osborne’s company had only been established for about a year, with many new hires in the past six months who hadn’t seen her.

Lawrence didn’t take her anger out on these uninformed employees. She nodded, smiling warmly, ”May I go in now?”

”Su... su... sure, I guess...” The receptionist was flustered, but didn’t try to stop Lawrence anymore.

Lawrence walked straight into the company.

The layout of high-tech companies in office buildings is usually similar.

Lawrence quickly found Kenneth Osborne’s CEO office.

Meanwhile, the receptionist was frantically dialing Kenneth Osborne’s office, but no one was answering there either.

But she had clearly seen Kenneth return to his office and hadn’t left!

While she was in a panic, Lawrence had already reached Kenneth Osborne’s office door.

Kenneth’s secretary suddenly appeared to block Lawrence, smiling, ”Miss Winters, you’re here. Please wait a moment, I’ll announce you first.”

Lawrence, without looking at him, pushed him aside, ”No need, there’s just a door up ahead, what’s there to announce?”

She strode forward, placed her hand on the door handle, and with a click, pushed open the mahogany door.

In the spacious CEO office, directly facing the door was Kenneth Osborne’s large desk.

On the desk were several large monitors, with Kenneth sitting behind it. Behind him stood a very professional-looking woman in business attire, leaning forward, presumably looking at one of the screens.

It was Spring Spencer.

From Lawrence’s angle, it seemed like Spring Spencer’s head was almost touching Kenneth Osborne’s.

A little closer, and they would perfectly illustrate the phrase ”whispering sweet nothings.”

Lawrence was so furious her whole body trembled. Clenching her fists tightly, she squeezed a sentence through clenched teeth, ”...So the reason for stringing me along and refusing to let me see the progress is to avoid disturbing your little private world, huh?”
