Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 709: Chapter 368: All Inherited Traditions (Second Update, Monthly Ticket 300+)

As soon as Autumn Stetford came in, almost everyone in the hall gathered around her.

Some exchanged pleasantries, some greeted her, and some even burst out laughing.

The atmosphere heated up quickly, as if the true main character had arrived.

Actually, the hostess of this grand event is Mrs. Sheng of Sheng Capital.

Lawrence Winters and Mrs. Fu stayed seated.

Mrs. Shen and her daughter, Shen Ruyu, however, got up and went over.

They are relatives, and very close ones, so it’s only right.

Mrs. Sheng also remained seated, with a perpetual smile on her round, chubby face, observing the lively scene. Suddenly, she asked Lawrence Winters, ”Do you want to go over? I can introduce you. That’s Mrs. Stetford, the wife of the Sheldon Consortium chairman, and just now, Mrs. Shen is her sister-in-law.”

Lawrence Winters smiled, ”The top-ranked Sheldon Family? I think I’ll stay...”

She lowered her head, sipping the coconut juice placed in front of her.

Autumn Stetford greeted people all along her way, graceful and patient, making her way charmingly toward Mrs. Sheng.

Only then did Mrs. Sheng stand up, warmly saying, ”Autumn, you’re here, long time no see, you seem to have grown younger!”

Autumn Stetford covered her mouth with a laugh, ”Sister Sheng, you really know how to talk, I’ve been quite worried lately, even a few strands of hair have turned white.” With that, she sat down next to Mrs. Sheng.

She sat precisely in the spot Shen Ruyu occupied earlier.

Mrs. Shen and Shen Ruyu had stood to welcome her earlier, leaving the spot vacant.

Since Autumn Stetford now sat here, Mrs. Shen and Shen Ruyu moved over to Mrs. Fu’s side.

Thus, Mrs. Sheng had Lawrence Winters on one side and Autumn Stetford on the other.

In this position, it was impossible for Autumn Stetford and Lawrence Winters not to notice each other.

Lawrence Winters had no choice but to smile and nod at Autumn Stetford, greeting her, ”Hello, Mrs. Stetford.”

As if noticing her for the first time, Autumn squinted her eyes to recognize for a moment, then said, ”May I ask who you are... You look familiar, but I can’t recall the name.”

Lawrence Winters was not bothered, pretending is something anyone can do.

She smiled and said, ”I’m Lawrence Winters. We once met briefly, it’s normal if you don’t remember.”

Autumn Stetford laughed lightly, as if such situations were indeed common, and she didn’t acknowledge Lawrence further but instead introduced the young lady she brought along to the surrounding ladies, ”This young lady is Ivy Quinn, her mother is my dear friend. Her family’s private hospital has recently opened in the Capital City, and I’ve brought her to meet everyone.”

Ivy Quinn ran her hand through her large wavy hair and said with a smile, ”My family’s hospital is inherited, having over a hundred years of history abroad, and now opening domestically for the first time, I’d appreciate your guidance.”

With that, she took out a stack of business cards from her small Hermes bag and distributed them one by one.

Lawrence Winters was also handed one; she casually glanced at it and put it into her purse.

Actually, most people present have their own family doctors, and wouldn’t go to the hospital unless it’s a significant issue.

But if it’s a major illness, they go directly to large public hospitals with comprehensive equipment and experienced doctors; not many would go to private hospitals.

Currently, domestic private hospitals are mostly used for childbirth for the moderately wealthy or specialist outpatient visits.

Yet, everyone still laughed and showed support.

Once Mrs. Sheng saw everyone had arrived, she rang the bell for the attendants to start serving food.

Today’s dinner was a western-style meal with individual servings.

There were six courses in total, from two starters to three main courses and a dessert.

Several attendants moved back and forth serving the dishes.

Each person’s plate needed to be changed six times.

The flavors were quite good, and Lawrence Winters enjoyed the meal, though she disliked the constant plate-changing as she was watched.

After finishing the first main course, everyone held their wine glasses and began chatting.

A middle-aged lady sitting next to Mrs. Fu looked curiously at Ivy Quinn, then asked Autumn Stetford, ”Mrs. Stetford, when will you bring Miss Betty? You seem to have never brought her here once?”

Autumn Stetford’s expression didn’t change, she maintained a slight smile, though it remained at her lips without reaching her eyes, appearing somewhat distant.

She swirled the red wine in her glass, and said calmly, ”Betty has a weak constitution, and her father dotes on her a lot. He’s taken her overseas for a vacation, leaving his work behind.”

”Ah? Mr. Shen has gone abroad again? Tsk-tsk, it’s almost June, the last month of the second quarter, and yet the chairman is not in the country?”
