Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 740: Chapter 382: I’m Still a Baby Myself (Part 2)

Lawrence Winters was quite puzzled, ”Why? Why can’t they talk about it? Although they’re not young, my mom is in her forties, and if she wants a child, it’s completely possible. Artificial insemination technology is very advanced now...”

The old Daoist twitched his mouth, ”That’s getting more ridiculous. Is this an artificial insemination problem?”

”Then what’s the issue?”

The old Daoist was silent for a while, then slowly said, ”Back when your mom had you, she had a massive hemorrhage and almost died in childbirth. Later, the doctors saved both of you, but your mom’s body... was damaged. She can’t have any more children.”

Lawrence’s heart suddenly sank, almost reflexively retorting, ”Grandmaster, that can’t be right? Modern medicine is so advanced, how could this happen?”

”But that’s the fact.”

Lawrence looked at the old Daoist for a while, feeling he wasn’t lying, and quickly adjusted his mindset, saying, ”If that’s true, then why not continue the treatment?”

The old Daoist just looked at her without speaking.

Lawrence seemed to understand and quickly added, ”Is it a money issue? If it’s a money issue, I can give all my money to help my mom get treated, and once she’s better, she can have a baby.”

”Why are you so insistent that they have a child?” The old Daoist was a bit bewildered. ”Actually, if they don’t, the greatest beneficiary is you...”

Lawrence, though a money-grubber, wasn’t without principles.

She raised an eyebrow and said, ”I know, but it’s different if they choose not to than if they have no choice but not to.”

”I hope Master has his own children. If my mom is willing to have one for him, that’s their right.”

The old Daoist looked at her deeply and nodded, ”Lawrence, I like this about you. My mantle will certainly be passed to you. You won’t abandon me on the mountain when I’m old and helpless.”

Lawrence burst out laughing, ”Grandmaster, even if he’s my master, Ian wouldn’t abandon you on the mountain!”

”Hmph! He wouldn’t, but he’s married now, and only has eyes for his dear wife, where am I, his poor helpless aging master, in his memory?” The old Daoist grumbled, seemingly dissatisfied with Nick Zeller.

Lawrence found it even funnier, ”But I’m married too, aren’t you worried I only have eyes for my dear husband Yuan?”

”You? Not yet!” The old Daoist laughed heartily, ”At least I know in your eyes I’m more important than your dear husband Yuan!”

”How is that possible?!” Lawrence pouted, pretending to want to hit the old Daoist playfully.

The old Daoist cheerfully said, ”If I and your dear husband were to fall into the water, who would you save?”

”Of course, it would be you, Grandmaster!” Lawrence said instinctively, ”Besides, Yuan can swim.”

”It’s not about whether he can swim. It’s a matter of priority,” the old Daoist said meaningfully, ”If your mom and I fell into the water together, that ungrateful disciple of mine would definitely save your mom first, then me.”

”But if I fell in with your husband, you’d definitely save me first. — That’s why I choose you.”

Lawrence thought about it carefully, and it was indeed the case.

She laughed a bit sheepishly and subtly changed the subject, ”Alright, I got it. When I have time, I’ll ask my other master if he has a way to treat my mom.”

”Another master? The one who operates on your master?” the old Daoist asked curiously, ”What’s his name again?”

”Ian Lothrop,” Lawrence said enthusiastically, ”He’s incredibly skilled! Not only does he know medicine, he’s also into high-energy physics! That’s cross-discipline expertise! He’s published a lot of papers and has many impressive patents!”

The well-informed old Daoist didn’t seem to care and casually replied, ”Oh, really? Knows medicine and high-energy physics, huh? That’s impressive? I know people like that too!”

”How can there be so many geniuses?” Lawrence tried hard to promote her new idol Ian, ”He’s not just any medical expert! His surgical skills are extraordinary, and he’s a big name in genetic editing! His high-energy physics is even more mind-blowing, I can’t even understand his papers... hahahaha...”

”...Can perform surgery? Do genetic editing? Also publish papers on high-energy physics?” the old Daoist scoffed, ”You’re just bragging.”

”I’m not bragging!” Lawrence took out her phone, did a quick search, and pulled up a previously published paper, saying, ”Look, over twenty years ago, he was already famous!”
