Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 707: Chapter 367: The Grand Soiree (First Update, Requesting Recommendation Tickets)

Kenneth Osborne silently sat in the car, watching the extended Rolls-Royce Phantom drive away.

Yet, Edward Foster surprisingly didn’t get in.

After the car drove off, Edward Foster actually headed to the parking lot alone.

Could it be they are not going to the same place?

Kenneth pondered again and again, finally taking out his phone and dialing Lawrence Winters’ number.

But still, he couldn’t get through.

It seems she has blacklisted him as well.

Kenneth tried sending a WeChat message to Lawrence, only to find he was blocked!

He closed his eyes for a moment, got out of the car, leaned against the hood, and pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, lighting it up to smoke.

His mind was still chaotic; he didn’t want to think about anything, so he could only relieve stress by smoking.

After finishing the cigarette, he tossed the butt into a nearby trash bin, then drove back to Lawrence Winters’ grand apartment.

He hadn’t been there for two days and needed to check on them, especially Nick Zeller, to see how his recovery was going.

Kenneth thought about this and drove to a large supermarket, bought some fruit and snacks, and headed back to the community where Lawrence lives.

When he arrived, Gabrielle Winters, Nick Zeller, and the Daoist were having dinner together.

Kenneth didn’t stand on ceremony; he placed the fruit and snacks in the living room, picked up a bowl and chopsticks, and sat down to eat.

Nick noticed the deep shadow on Kenneth’s jaw and curiously asked, ”Haven’t you slept in days?”

Kenneth took big gulps of the corn and spare rib soup cooked by the Daoist and said, ”Two days, I guess. Something came up at the company and I had to work overtime.”

”You really are dedicated, but take it easy. Health is the most important,” Gabrielle said sympathetically, using communal chopsticks to pick a piece of braised sea cucumber for Kenneth. ”Eat more nutritious food, don’t overexert yourself.”

Kenneth nodded, ”Thank you, mother-in-law.”

The Daoist finished his meal and returned to the living room to enjoy the fruit Kenneth bought.

Only then did Kenneth tentatively ask Gabrielle, ”Do you know when Nora will be home? I’d like to pick her up.”

”Oh, she said she’s going to some dinner party called ’Shengshi Yaji,’ with some people. I’ve never heard of it; supposedly, it’s full of strong women from the business world,” Gabrielle said, checking the WeChat message Lawrence sent her.

Kenneth hadn’t heard of ’Shengshi Yaji’ either.

However, after returning to his room post-dinner, he used his phone to search for ’Shengshi Yaji.’

There’s scant information about this organization online, but it roughly appears to be a social venue for the women of the domestic elite.

This explained why Edward Foster’s mother took Lawrence over, yet Edward himself didn’t go.

Kenneth watched silently, feeling uneasy.

With his skills, if he made major breakthroughs, he could possibly catch up with the scale of the Spencer Family in a decade.

But the Foster Family’s level might be unattainable even with a lifetime of effort.

Every advance by a rank in the top ten of the billionaire list sees assets grow exponentially.

Ninth place has significantly more than tenth.

The Fosters currently rank fifth, fully overshadowing the Spencers.

Only with such a powerful consortium could Lawrence retain her piece of land, without the Spencer’s covetous gaze...

Kenneth understood this, yet he couldn’t help but feel suffocated inside.

...

Lawrence went with Mrs. Foster to attend the Shengshi Yaji gathering at a high-end clubhouse.

This place doesn’t have those who deal in shady businesses; only those with sizeable family assets can get a membership.

And those truly able to attend a Shengshi Yaji gathering number fewer than fifty.

Mrs. Foster had a permanent suite in this clubhouse equipped with comfortable furnishings, as well as bathing facilities and a makeup room.

Mrs. Foster took out a gown prepared for Lawrence, smiling as she said, ”Lawrence, try it on and see if it fits. The moment I saw this dress, I knew it would look great on you.”

The dress was a long gown of ivory white silk satin, cinched at the waist and hugging the hips, with a bell-shaped skirt that gently flared.

Intricate pink 3D rose embellishments cascaded from the shoulders, gradually thinning down to the hem where only a few remained as accents.

At first glance, it seemed merely exquisite, but upon closer inspection, the stamens of each rose were made of real rubies.

Under the chandelier, the high-purity rubies were even more striking than diamonds.

Unaware that the stamens of the handcrafted roses adorning her dress were actual rubies, Lawrence only knew that the roses beneath the light looked almost real.

The stamens sparkled like dewdrops on flower petals on a summer morning, glistening and dripping.

Once Lawrence changed into the dress, she let down her bun, allowing her long black hair to fall onto her shoulders, transforming her entire aura.
