Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1243: Chapter 1244: Don’t You Want Me...?

Her gaze swept over the ten new recruits opposite her, and An Jing announced, ”From now on, you are truly soldiers.”

After a pause, An Jing continued, ”The female military camp is unlike any other; it’s all women here. Historically, men joined the army to protect their home and country. Now women can too. I hope you cherish this opportunity, excel as soldiers, make yourselves proud, and show everyone that we are in no way inferior to any other camp.”

”There are national laws, family rules, and military regulations. As long as you are in the camp, you must abide by these military regulations, or face martial law without mercy.”

”Later, the assistant instructor will familiarize you with the military regulations, and at noon, we will slaughter chickens and sheep to reward you, celebrating your successful integration into the ranks of the female soldiers.”

”After lunch, you may move around freely.”

”Formal training will begin tomorrow. Be mentally prepared; it will be tough and exhausting.”

At that point, An Jing turned her head and looked at Ye Zhi: ”Ye Zhi, I leave them in your care.”

”Yes, Instructor!”

Then, An Jing turned and left, heading back to her tent.

She needed to re-register the names of the ten new recruits and then deliver the list to the palace for Su Chengyu to see.

As for her training plan for the new recruits, she had already organized it into a booklet with Ye Zhi, planning to take it to the palace later and show it to Su Chengyu, the Emperor.

But to An Jing’s surprise, as soon as she returned to her tent, she saw her husband inside.

”Dear!” An Jing exclaimed with joy as she threw herself at Xiao Changyi, and as she hugged him, she also kissed him.

Xiao Changyi wrapped one arm around her, pulling her closer against himself, and with his other hand cradled the back of An Jing’s head, deepening their kiss.

The pair shared a passionate kiss, and then An Jing smiled and asked, ”Did you have a sleepless night without me?”

Xiao Changyi answered with unusual honesty, ”Hmm.”

An Jing immediately teased with a giggle, ”I slept so well last night.”

Xiao Changyi bit An Jing’s lip in response; though not with much force— it didn’t hurt An Jing at all, but it did make her feel like he was nibbling at her, punishing her.

While biting her, Xiao Changyi took the opportunity to kiss An Jing a little longer.

”I was just teasing, I didn’t sleep well at all.” An Jing said, laughing as she pulled Xiao Changyi to sit down. ”How could I possibly sleep soundly without you by my side?”

Xiao Changyi’s expression finally softened.

”When did you get here?” An Jing asked.

”I arrived just in time to see you heading to the training ground.”

”I was at the training ground to see how many people were willing to stay as soldiers. The assessment is complete, and ten have confirmed their decision to stay.” An Jing then briefed Xiao Changyi about who those ten were.

Hearing that Su Chengyuan was among the ten, Xiao Changyi was momentarily taken aback: ”Chengyuan...”

Seeing Xiao Changyi’s reaction, An Jing couldn’t help but laugh: ”Surprising, isn’t it? Ha ha, I didn’t expect it either. I hope she continues to impress us in the future. By the way, dear, how are our four precious sons? Are they doing well?”

”They’re fine,” he paused, ”but they miss you very much. They told me to tell you to come back and see them soon.”

”I miss them too. I’ll be reporting to Chengyu about the situation here at the palace later on, and I’ll take the opportunity to visit them as well.”

”Alright,” after another pause, ”don’t you miss me?”

An Jing immediately laughed: ”I already said that without you by my side, I can’t even sleep well. How could I not miss you?”
