Chapter 1209: Chapter 1210: You are my wife, you should stand by my side

Su Chengyu was first taken aback, then he couldn’t help but exclaim with joy: ”Reward! Reward everyone in Fengqi Palace!”

While arranging for the rewards to be distributed, Su Chengyu hurried to find Ning Wenxian.

Upon hearing that Ning Wenxian was pregnant, An Jing immediately looked towards Xiao Changyi, teasingly glancing at him with a clear implication: Look, someone else’s husband is so happy about pregnancy, yet look at you, not only do you not show that, but you also wish that I would never get pregnant again.

Xiao Changyi rarely averted his gaze and looked away, avoiding eye contact with An Jing.

Seeing Xiao Changyi like this, An Jing couldn’t help but find it amusing.

Inside Fengqi Palace, Ning Wenxian was lying on the bed, her forehead and cheeks covered with a thin layer of sweat, her expression somewhat pained, clearly indicating that the abdominal pain had not subsided.

As soon as Ning Wenxian saw Su Chengyu, she smiled and recalled, ”Emperor...”

”Don’t get up, just lie down.” Su Chengyu wouldn’t allow her to rise and hurriedly had her lie back down.

Seeing that she still seemed to be in pain, Su Chengyu became very worried and asked Doctor Jiang, who was kneeling on one side, ”What’s wrong, has the abdominal pain not subsided yet?”

Doctor Jiang said: ”The Empress has disturbed her fetal energy and has already taken a pill to stabilize the pregnancy. It’s not going to work immediately; we need to wait a while longer before the Empress will no longer feel pain.”

Su Chengyu then felt somewhat relieved.

Turning his head, he saw Ning Wenxian smiling at him, which made him smile too: ”Why are you smiling?”

Ning Wenxian said, ”Emperor, your concubine is pregnant again.”

”Mm,” Su Chengyu sat by the bed, holding one of her hands, ”We are going to have another child, I will be a father again.”

Ning Wenxian added, ”Doctor Jiang says there are two.”

Su Chengyu froze for a moment, then became even happier, saying, ”Reward! Everyone in the palace, reward!”

Everyone once again expressed their thanks: ”Thank you, Emperor!”

Doctor Jiang said, ”Emperor, the Empress has been pregnant for nearly three months. This disturbance in her fetal energy has left her body very weak. It is hoped that, in the future, the Empress will not overexert herself. Preserving the royal bloodline is of utmost importance.”

Su Chengyu, upon hearing this, advised Ning Wenxian, ”Now that you are with child, you should leave the affairs of the harem aside as much as possible, and hand them over to the Tenth Imperial Sister. She has plenty of free time in the palace.”

”Alright.” Ning Wenxian smiled and nodded.

An Jing knew that there were outsiders present, and Ning Wenxian, who was clear about manners, wouldn’t bring up any unhappiness between her and Su Chengyu. After that, An Jing congratulated Ning Wenxian, then An Jing and Xiao Changyi went home.

As soon as An Jing and Xiao Changyi left, Ning Wenxian had all the attendants withdraw.

Suddenly, only she and Su Chengyu remained in the room.

”Emperor, don’t be angry with Wen Xian,” Ning Wenxian timidly reached out to pull on Su Chengyu’s wide sleeve.

Su Chengyu looked at her and after a long sigh filled with a touch of weariness, said, ”I’m not really angry with you, it’s just that I feel you have let down my intentions.”

”Emperor...” Ning Wenxian’s eyes immediately reddened.

Su Chengyu simply sat down on the bed, embracing Ning Wenxian who had reddened eyes, and whispered in her ear: ”You are my wife, you should stand by my side.”

”I was wrong,” Ning Wenxian sobbed, ”The Emperor was thinking of Wen Xian, and yet Wen Xian failed to appreciate it.”

”You didn’t fail to appreciate it, you were taking the bigger picture into account, afraid that my position as Emperor would not be stable.” Pausing for a moment, Su Chengyu tightened his embrace around Ning Wenxian’s hand and continued, ”Wen Xian, even if I cannot secure my position as Emperor, I will ensure your well-being.”
