Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1205: Chapter 1206: What is Being Made Here?

Half a month later, An Jing received reports on the recruitment of female soldiers from other areas in Xiyun. Altogether, only five women from all these places joined the army, such a small number indeed.

Among these five women, there was one An Jing knew – her apprentice, Li Wuyu.

An Jing hadn’t expected Li Wuyu to enlist. When she saw Li Wuyu’s name, she was truly surprised.

Li Wuyu had given birth just over a month ago. If she were to join the army now, An Jing would definitely be worried that she hadn’t fully recovered yet. But since actual enlistment would only happen in two more months and registration was happening now, An Jing wasn’t too concerned.

By that time, Li Wuyu’s health should have completely recovered.

Seeing that the recruitment of female soldiers within Xiyun was complete, although there were only thirteen of them, An Jing still reported it and confirmed with Emperor Su Chengyu that these prospective female soldiers would join the military camp on the 20th day of the first month next year.

Upon returning from the palace, An Jing immediately sent people to notify those thirteen who had registered, instructing them to report to the Imperial Capital no later than the 21st of the first month next year, and no delays would be tolerated.

After the recruitment was finished, An Jing started handling the construction issues for the female soldiers’ camp. She had already had Ye Zhi start working on it half a month ago, but Ye Zhi hadn’t finished yet.

The female military camp was set up right next to the male military camp outside the Imperial Capital.

Many tents were set up; the tent in the center was particularly large, serving as the headquarters for the female military camp.

As for some modern training facilities, An Jing and Ye Zhi had already drawn them out. Carpenters and blacksmiths were still rushing to finish them. They hadn’t completed them yet and much effort was still needed, but the carpenters and blacksmiths promised to have everything ready by the 15th day of the first month next year.

When General Liu Buli was inspecting the military camp, he noticed the weird constructions in the nearby female military camp, which made him curiously approach An Jing and ask, ”Princess, what are you building here?”

”Equipment for training new soldiers,” An Jing replied with a smile.

General Liu Buli frowned and said, ”Never seen anything like it before.”

An Jing responded, ”Of course you haven’t. It’s a new concept my sworn sister and I came up with. We plan to test it, and if the results are good, we will report to the Emperor to have it promoted across the entire army.”

General Liu Buli immediately looked impressed.

An Jing hesitated for a moment, then said, ”General Liu, may I have a word alone?”

General Liu Buli was startled and hesitated as he glanced at Xiao Changyi. Seeing that Xiao Changyi had heard but did not react, he signaled the soldiers following him to stay put and then followed An Jing to a place not far from the crowd.

An Jing made sure she spoke in a lowered voice, ensuring no one else could hear. Only then did she stop.

Seeing that General Liu Buli had followed her, she whispered, ”You haven’t been to the capital for a while, so you probably don’t know. Miss Liu Feifei has enlisted.”

General Liu Buli, who was one-armed and holding his red tassel spear in his right hand, trembled upon hearing An Jing’s words, nearly dropping the spear.

General Liu Buli was no fool; he could understand why Liu Feifei enlisted. Then, An Jing said nothing more and returned to the sides of Xiao Changyi and Ye Zhi, continuing to observe the carpenters and blacksmiths working on the training facilities.

An Jing and her group didn’t stay long at the female military camp before heading back to the Imperial Capital.

On the way back to the Imperial Capital, Ye Zhi joked, ”Boss, you actually let another man talk privately with you in front of your brother-in-law. Be careful, lest your brother-in-law gets jealous and angry.”
