Chapter 1210: Chapter 1211: When the Emperor Angers, a Million Corpses Lie Prostrate

”I truly have the ability to make you the only one in the harem; do you believe me? Just like before, will you stand by my side? You promised me that you would always stand by my side.”

”Okay. Okay. Okay...” Ning Wenxian cried, tears falling down her face, crying and laughing at the same time, her voice particularly choked. Even if she would be despised by the world in the future, she felt blessed.

Seeing Ning Wenxian crying, Su Chengyu felt a pang of heartache, gently wiping her tears while consoling her: ”Don’t cry, you are with child again, you can’t cry, this time it’s twins, you need to take extra care. Everything will be taken care of by me.”

”Mm.” Ning Wenxian was deeply moved, trying hard to control her tears, but her voice was still choked with sobs.

”Now that you are pregnant, I will take this chance to settle matters; I’d like to see who dares to gossip about you in the future.”

”Wen Xian will listen to the Emperor,” she thought. Now, Ning Wenxian had come to terms with it, and no matter what Su Chengyu wanted to do, she would support him.

Seeing Ning Wenxian support him just like before, Su Chengyu was very satisfied, involuntarily tightening his grasp on her hand.

Held in Su Chengyu’s embrace, Ning Wenxian felt an exceptional sense of security in his arms.

...

The next morning at the imperial court, using the incident of Ning Wenxian’s pregnancy scare, Su Chengyu blamed all the faults on the officials who had sought Ning Wenxian out, saying that if they had not bothered her about the matter of recruiting more beauties into the harem, she would not have been so agitated to have a pregnancy scare.

Su Chengyu really let loose a barrage of anger in the main hall; beneath the jade steps, everyone knelt, each one frightened out of their wits, scared that Su Chengyu in his fury would behead them.

”Fortunately, the Empress is safe, and the fetus is unharmed, otherwise, look at me not flaying your skins!”

After venting his anger, Su Chengyu declared sternly: ”To prevent such incidents from happening again, I have decided to issue a royal decree to the whole world, stating that my harem will forever only have the Empress and no one else, this is not open to question!”

The kneeling civil and military officials now felt that Su Chengyu was fuming with rage; even though they opposed his decision in their hearts, not a single one dared to voice their dissent.

When an Emperor gets angry, it could lead to a bloodbath.

Their single lives were not enough to sacrifice.

After the morning court session, Su Chengyu went to find Ning Wenxian at Fengqi Palace.

Seeing Ning Wenxian smile tenderly at him, Su Chengyu first sighed, then spoke guiltily: ”The imperial edict has been issued, some people may not understand me, they might think it is your jealousy that forced me to do this.” He paused, ”No matter what they say, you shouldn’t care.”

Ning Wenxian nodded with a smile: ”Mm.”

”I’ve wronged you again,” Su Chengyu felt even more guilty.

Ning Wenxian shook her head, ”Wen Xian is not wronged, Wen Xian is very happy.”

Only then did Su Chengyu smile, holding her hand tightly, ”Your pregnancy is not yet stable, once it is, we’ll move to Jun Palace to live together; from now on, we’ll live together.”

Ning Wenxian nodded with a smile again: ”Okay.”

It was at this moment that a eunuch, bowing his body, came in to report: ”Your Majesty, the Retired Emperor summons you.”

Ning Wenxian immediately grabbed Su Chengyu’s hand tightly, growing worried: ”Your Majesty...”

Su Chengyu patted Ning Wenxian’s hand gently, reassuring her: ”Don’t worry, everything will be taken care of by me.”

Though her heart remained apprehensive, Ning Wenxian nodded: ”Mm.”

At this moment, Su Haoyu, the Retired Emperor, was not in his sleeping palace; he was in Feng Palace, the former residence of his principal wife, Empress Liang.
