Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1213: Chapter 1214: Used to His Care

At the dinner table, there were only four dishes that An Jing personally made: one was sweet and sour pork, one was pork intestines, one was a large plate of fried pancake rolls, and one was a yin-yang hotpot.

This New Year’s Eve was exceptionally cold, and considering the lengthy dinner, An Jing thought of having hotpot.

But considering that four little ones couldn’t take spicy food, she made a yin-yang pot, one side spicy and the other not, allowing those who like spicy food to cook their food in the spicy broth and those who don’t to cook theirs in the non-spicy one.

There were many different ingredients prepared for dipping.

Thanks to the hotpot, there wasn’t the slightest chill in the room; it was warm and cozy.

The dishes made by An Jing, which are almost nonexistent elsewhere, had great flavors and everyone enjoyed eating them.

The only exception was Tobanya, who never ate pork offal, and hence hadn’t touched the pork intestines dish.

The pork intestines were red and moist, tender, and had a balance of sour, sweet, spicy, and salty flavors. Meng Zhuqing had one and found it particularly delicious, then suggested to Tobanya, ”Yao’er, this dish is really good, do you want to try?”

Tobanya originally didn’t want to eat it, but Meng Zhuqing asked her personally, so she nodded, ”Hmm.”

Seeing her nod, Meng Zhuqing happily picked up another pork intestine for her, evidently eager to see if Tobanya would enjoy eating it.

Tobanya looked at the pork intestines in her bowl hesitatingly and then nibbled a tiny bite.

Born a noble, Tobanya was educated in the ways of nobility from childhood. Although her expression was cold, her movements while eating were elegant and graceful, unmatched by anyone else present.

Gong Jue Chen, sitting opposite Tobanya, would have been distracted by Tobanya’s beautiful face in the past, but now his attention was all on making Ye Zhi drink with him; he didn’t even notice Tobanya.

When Meng Zhuqing saw Tobanya eat the pork intestines, she asked, ”How does it feel? Do you like it?”

A trace of a light smile appeared on Tobanya’s cool face as she softly said, ”It’s delicious.”

”Then I’ll pick another one for you.” Saying so, Meng Zhuqing picked another pork intestine and put it in Tobanya’s bowl.

Tobanya, with her serene demeanor, didn’t say much but slightly smiled, looking at Meng Zhuqing for a moment. Then she lowered her eyelids and continued eating the dish Meng Zhuqing had served her.

Actually, she could have served herself.

She didn’t really need him to serve her.

If he hadn’t been so nervous and cautious the first time he served her, perhaps she would have told him earlier that she didn’t like others serving her, and that she could do it herself.

He served her the first time, and she didn’t stop him; the second time, she still didn’t stop him; the third time, still she didn’t stop him; and now, she was used to him occasionally serving her.

She was also accustomed to his care.

Unintentionally, Tobanya glanced again at Meng Zhuqing, who gave her a great sense of security. The slight smile on her lips deepened, and she was yet unaware of it.

Meng Zhuqing noticed and felt pleased, quickly picking up a piece of sweet and sour pork for Tobanya.

An Jing had no time to pay attention to Tobanya and Meng Zhuqing, nor to Ye Zhi and Gong Jue Chen, solely because the four little ones were quite noisy, and she had to attend to them.

Meanwhile, Xiao Changyi was helping by looking after the four little ones, while also cooking for her and the little ones.

This New Year’s dinner went on until midnight before finally ending.
