Chapter 1220: Chapter 1221: Armor

”Jing’er, Star, Qinger, Yun Er, be good, don’t cry, Daddy and Mommy haven’t abandoned you; Mommy has to train the troops, and the military camp is outside the city, so Mommy can’t come back every day to see you, but your Daddy will come back to see you every day.”

An Jing gently soothed the four little ones.

Seeing that the four little ones were still crying breathlessly, An Jing had no choice but to coax them again: ”Daddy will still be with you to sleep, it’s just that Mommy, Mommy is too busy and can’t always come back, but if Mommy is not busy, she will definitely come back to see you and be with you, okay?”

”Mommy’s lying... lying...” the four little ones cried, saying An Jing was lying, not believing her.

An Jing immediately said: ”If Mommy lies, then should Daddy spank Mommy’s bottom, okay?”

The four little ones immediately looked towards Xiao Changyi, tears still shimmering like crystals in their little deer-like eyes, looking all pitiful.

Xiao Changyi hadn’t wanted to say anything, but An Jing desperately made eye gestures at him, prompting him to go along with her, so he reluctantly spoke: ”Mm, if your mommy lies, Daddy will spank your mommy’s bottom.”

In the eyes of the four little ones, being spanked on the bottom was a very serious matter, as their parents had always used this threat to scare them, so when Xiao Changyi mentioned spanking, they immediately believed An Jing’s words and stopped crying.

...

The next day, An Jing got up before dawn, and as soon as she did, she put on her leather armor.

Here, the standard armor for soldiers was either cloth or leather.

Truth be told, cloth and leather armors were much lighter and cheaper compared to armors made from gold, silver, copper, iron, etc.

There was no helping it.

Here, the smelting technology for gold, silver, copper, iron, etc., was not yet mature, and there wasn’t enough of those materials to smelt, and with so many soldiers in the army, they naturally had to wear armor made of cloth and leather.

Although armor made from gold, silver, copper, iron, etc., provided much better protection compared to cloth and leather, they were indeed very heavy.

Changyi’s armor, which An Jing had seen, was hanging in the inner room of the study in Prince Yi’s Mansion, complete with a helmet, collar armor, arm guards, battle robe, breastplate, bronze mirror, war kilt, and battle boots; they looked nice and very majestic, but they were very heavy, weighing dozens of pounds, and most people really couldn’t handle it, let alone fight in it.

The leather armor that An Jing was now wearing only protected her upper body, but it was indeed very light, and the clothing worn under the leather armor was a uniform dark red shirt for soldiers in the army.

To make it clear that she was an instructor and not an ordinary soldier, An Jing also took a dark red cloth strip and tied it around her head.

Like An Jing, Ye Zhi was also dressed in leather armor, though she didn’t tie a red cloth strip on her head, but instead wore an armband that bore the words ’Deputy Instructor’.

After having breakfast quickly with Ye Zhi, An Jing planned to head to the military camp with her.

And at that time, the sky was just beginning to light up.

The children were still sleeping.

Xiao Changyi accompanied An Jing to the women’s military camp.

An Jing had originally not wanted Xiao Changyi to accompany her, but he was too worried about her encountering another assassin and feared for her safety when he wasn’t around; therefore, An Jing let Xiao Changyi escort her to the women’s military camp.

Next to the women’s military camp was the Wolf Camp, now headed by General Liu Buli. The Wolf Camp had twenty thousand soldiers, and there would always be someone patrolling around it; if an assassin appeared, twenty thousand soldiers would be mobilized immediately to encircle and suppress them, so it could be said that the women’s military camp was very safe.
