Chapter 1219: Chapter 1220: A Soldier Who Doesn’t Want to Be a General is Not a Good Soldier

After having Li Wuyu sit down, An Jing asked again, ”The child is still so small, if you don’t take care of him, who will?”

Li Wuyu said, ”There are wet nurses. My Youbao found four wet nurses. They’re all very skilled in taking care of children. There won’t be any problems.”

An Jing couldn’t help but laugh, ”Are you heartless or just short-sighted? Your child is so young, and you’re joining the army? Aren’t you afraid that Youbao won’t understand you?”

Li Wuyu said, ”Youbao understands me very well. I actually can’t bear to leave my child either. That child is the one I carried for ten months and gave birth to. How could I bear to leave him? But this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If I miss it, it might not come again. That’s why I signed up to join the army. Youbao also said that once his term as the Salt Transportation Officer is over, he’ll see if he can ask the Emperor for permission to transfer to the military camp. He wants to join the army too.”

An Jing knew that Wang Youbao had always dreamed of being in the military, as he so admired her husband.

”Let’s talk about the future in the future. However, he’s doing very well as the Salt Transportation Officer now, achieving a lot of success, and the Emperor is very satisfied with his current performance.”

”Really?!” Li Wuyu was very happy. ”All Youbao’s busyness every day wasn’t in vain.”

After a bit more casual chat, An Jing reminded her, ”Being a soldier is hard work. You need to be mentally prepared.”

”The moment I decided to sign up for the military, I was already mentally prepared. Don’t worry, Master, I won’t embarrass you. I also want to make my father proud. I have always brought shame to him, but this time, not only do I want to become a soldier, but I also aspire to become a General in the future.”

”You don’t need to worry about your father and me. We don’t expect anything from you. We just hope you live a happy and blessed life. But since you’ve chosen to join the military, you have to take it seriously. It’s not about making your father and me proud. It’s about proving yourself, so others don’t look down on you. However, your ambition is quite impressive. You haven’t even become a soldier yet, and you’re already thinking of being a General?”

Li Wuyu laughed and said, ”Isn’t it said that a soldier who doesn’t aspire to be a General isn’t a good soldier?”

Seeing Li Wuyu so cheerful, it was clear that her life with Wang Youbao was very happy and fulfilling. Otherwise, Li Wuyu wouldn’t be as cheerful as before.

”You’re right,” An Jing nodded in agreement. ”A soldier who doesn’t aspire to be a General isn’t a good soldier. Then I shall wait and see, looking forward to the day when you become a General.”

Li Wuyu immediately replied, ”I will work hard!”

...

On the nineteenth of the first month.

Tomorrow was the day for female soldiers to enter the military camp, and An Jing was also to join, but since she would be a drill instructor for the female soldiers, she couldn’t return to the mansion every day.

Then, An Jing and Xiao Changyi thought to send their children to the palace for Su Haoyu, their godfather, to look after.

Su Haoyu didn’t even wait for An Jing and Xiao Changyi to ask, but he had already sent a message to Prince Yi’s Mansion early on, inviting An Jing and Xiao Changyi to send the four little ones to the palace to accompany him. Whenever An Jing and Xiao Changyi wanted to see their children, they could visit the palace.

But as soon as the four little ones heard that An Jing and Xiao Changyi were going to send them to the palace, they cried their eyes out, as if the sky were falling. They sobbed breathlessly, fearing that An Jing and Xiao Changyi didn’t want them anymore.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi felt unspeakably pained in their hearts.

Even though it had been half a year since the Nan Shen epidemic, the wounds they left in the hearts of the four little ones seemed to have healed, but in reality, they hadn’t fully recovered.
