Berserk God of War

Chapter 544: Chapter 544: Changhua, Hua Lidian

Gradually, Ji Tan calmed down.

”Dealing with Cao Yi and the others is not difficult, they’re just opportunists with a backbone.”

”Right now, they’re just waiting for the outcome of my confrontation with the Dark Wings, just as they said, their families are all in the Long Night Imperial City. As long as the Dark Wings don’t see my father, the Emperor, they’ll keep their mouths shut.”

After calming down, Ji Tan’s judgments also began to become clearer.

”And the Dark Wings will certainly try everything to see my father. As long as they can’t, there won’t be any problems for the time being.”

”Now, the key is to kill the Dark Wings.”

This point was clear to Cheng Yusu, but how exactly could they kill the Dark Wings?

They didn’t know the true identity of the Dark Wings at all; once he took off his mask, it would be impossible to find him.

Thump, thump, thump...

Ji Tan knew this was a difficult task too. He tapped his fingers on the desktop, thinking calmly.

After a good while, he finally looked up and said slowly, ”It seems I have to employ the most important figure I’ve been concealing. I must have the Imperial City Guard Commander, Huang Yu, join forces with Eunuch Zou to monitor my father, the Emperor’s every move.”

Upon hearing this, Cheng Yusu’s eyes widened, not even Huang Yu had been spared from the crown prince’s reach.

As for Eunuch Zou, he was the old eunuch who had just proclaimed the decree.

”I must know who my father meets.”

”Any young person must be stopped from seeing him and have their identity investigated; no method must be spared, better to kill the wrong person than to let one go.”

As Ji Tan spoke, Cheng Yusu nodded his head vigorously; this was the only method now.

With Imperial City Guard Commander Huang Yu and Eunuch Zou on their side, this was not an impossible task.

Cheng Yusu also perceived the depth of Ji Tan’s influence.

Without realizing it, he had already gained control over so many people around Ji Shengmang.

”Furthermore, if the worst comes to pass, I need my father to be scared to take action against me, so the Long Night Black Burning Army must be controlled. Then I will have the confidence to confront my father head-on,” Ji Tan spoke with a somber expression; his ambition did not allow him to wait for Ji Shengmang to die naturally.

He wanted to ascend the throne as soon as possible.

”I must send the body of the Beigong Xianfeng back immediately. Next, I will be in the Long Night Imperial City, and you will stay here... We will gradually divide the Long Night Black Burning Army, and we must take control of it as soon as possible.”

After speaking, Ji Tan stood up and walked out of the city tower, feigning a heavy expression as he announced to the Long Night Black Burning Army.

He would bring back the body of Beigong Xianfeng to the Long Night Imperial City for a solemn burial.

...

Just as Ji Tan boarded the Court Divine Airship to return to the Long Night Imperial City, Sikong Jing had already taken off his mask and was also on his way back to the Long Night Imperial City, though he was not riding the Dark Wing Young Sculpture but had switched mounts.

The Dark Wing Young Sculpture was too conspicuous.

Sikong Jing was not in a hurry and leisurely appreciated the scenery of the Long Night Empire. On the seventh day after leaving the Youyuan Twelve States, he still hadn’t returned to the Long Night Imperial City.

Instead, he casually landed in a huge city called Dayuan Peak.

This was the largest city closest to the Long Night Imperial City and by taking the Divine Spaceship from here, it would only take a day and a half to get there. Thus, Sikong Jing bought a ticket for that day and boarded the Divine Spaceship.

The ship was a luxurious Divine Spaceship called the Changhua.

Only strong martial artists or rich, noble families could afford to travel on such an elegant ship.

Tables were set up on the deck. Sikong Jing casually found a table to sit at, ordered wine and food from the ship’s shop, and sat there comfortably, eating and drinking...

”Have you heard? There’s a state funeral for the Beigong Commander today. His Majesty is personally carrying the coffin.”

At this moment, a discussion arose from a nearby table.

Sikong Jing’s face showed no change of expression. Based on the timing, Ji Tan must have returned to Long Night Imperial City yesterday with Beigong Xianfeng’s body, so today was bound to be the day of the burial.

”Have you heard? It was a grand affair, Long Night mourns in silence!”

”The Beigong Commander grew up in the Long Night Black Burning Army, fighting tirelessly for the Long Night Empire all his life. No one knows how many life-and-death battles he has been through, keeping the Long Night Empire safe from foreign invasions, a truly impressive record of military achievements!”

”Alas, he was poisoned before the battle in the Youyuan Twelve States even began, rumored to have died at the hands of the Wangyou Sect.”

”The Wangyou Sect? Why would they want to kill the Beigong Commander?”

”It is said that during the battle when Wangyou Sect attacked Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, the Beigong Commander secretly interfered, aiding the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace and causing great losses to the Wangyou Sect, which led to his untimely demise.”

Upon hearing this, Sikong Jing’s eyes revealed a noncommittal light.

Clearly, Beigong Xianfeng’s death would give rise to numerous suspicions, this being just one of them.

This suspicion could very likely become the mainstream, certainly a rumor deliberately spread by Ji Tan to provide the Long Night Empire with an excuse not to attack the Wangyou Sect, making the act of the Wangyou Sect killing Beigong Xianfeng seem justified.

In other words, implying that Beigong Xianfeng wronged the Wangyou Sect first...

Of course, this was also a way of besmirching Beigong Xianfeng, which Sikong Jing found quite displeasing.

”What is the current situation of the battle in the Youyuan Twelve States?” Someone else asked anxiously.

Another person quietly replied, ”Commander Cheng of the Long Night White Flame Army has taken over the Black Burning Army. Reports from the past few days suggest that the battle is going very smoothly, with no problems whatsoever.”

”Haha, Commander Cheng Yusu is truly amazing. To be able to turn around such a dire situation is simply badass.”

”Of course, Marshal Cheng is the youngest commander of the Long Night Empire. I think he’s even more powerful than the Beigong Commander.”

One by one, the people discussing loudly almost elevated Cheng Yusu to the skies.

”Pfft...”

However, at this moment, Sikong Jing couldn’t help but laugh, instantly drawing the attention of numerous people.

A fierce-looking man glared with eyes wide and bellowed, ”Kid, what are you laughing at?”

Sikong Jing casually took a sip of his drink and replied indifferently, ”Beigong Commander was attacked eight days before Cheng Yusu arrived. Do you all think the Long Night Black Burning Army managed to hold up during those eight days by Cheng Yusu directing from afar?”

No sooner had these words been spoken, the people who were heatedly discussing were stunned into silence.

Right, Beigong Commander was killed by the Wangyou Sect on the day of battle, so how did the Long Night Black Burning Army withstand the following eight days?

”Impudent child, dare you slander Commander Cheng?” At this moment, the fierce-looking man roared in a low voice.

Sikong Jing merely glanced at the man nonchalantly and continued to drink, ignoring him. The rumors about Cheng Yusu were still Ji Tan deliberately building momentum, no doubt sending people everywhere to spread the word...

But Sikong Jing didn’t care much, simply passing the time with a few interjections.

”You motherfucker, dare you ignore me, do you want to die?”

Seeing Sikong Jing ignoring him, the fierce-looking man couldn’t help but roll up his sleeves, ready to charge over...

Yet just then, another refined voice spoke up from behind the fierce man.

”As far as I know, during the eight days after the Beigong Commander was assassinated, it was the Dark Wing Commander of the Long Night Black Burning Army who commanded the battlefield as the acting commander, and he even nearly captured Netherworld State City.”

”It’s said that the Dark Wing Commander has now been driven away by Cheng Yusu, and Cheng Yusu simply can’t control the Long Night Black Burning Army.”

Upon hearing this, the fierce man trembled and couldn’t help but turn to look at the speaker.

It was a refined-looking middle-aged man.

Sikong Jing also looked over in slight surprise, then a glint flashed in his eyes—it was none other than Hua Lidian from the Overlord Commerce.
