Berserk God of War

Chapter 532: Chapter 532: Xuanwu Spring

In the room, now only Cao Yi remained.

He looked at Sikong Jing and sighed, ”The doctors have all said they are helpless, and even said the commander had already died once. It was a miracle that he could be resuscitated and awake for half a day.”

His voice was hoarse to the extreme, and his eyes were reddened, holding back tears.

Sikong Jing did not take off the Dark Wing Mask, and after a silence, he said, ”Blame me, Mo Ci came for me.”

”No, it was the Eldest Prince.”

Cao Yi shook his head vigorously, ”Ji Tan doesn’t even know where you are. He’s just using Mo Ci to kill the Beigong Commander, and even without you, Ji Tan would have other means. That bastard is probably thinking of harming the Emperor too.”

Even though Cao Yi said this, Sikong Jing still felt very guilty and sighed silently.

”What should we do now?”

Cao Yi clenched his fists tightly and continued, ”If Ji Tan finds out that the commander is not dead, he definitely has plans.”

”He must be afraid that the commander will go back and report to the Emperor. I fear that in the coming days, even if the life-threatening danger for the Beigong Commander is removed, what we will face is the terrible assassination from Ji Tan.”

Sikong Jing deeply agreed.

Ji Tan would absolutely not dare let the Beigong Xianfeng see the Long Night Emperor again.

Perhaps through assassination, or perhaps by having Mo Ci return once more.

And the reports from the Black Burning Army were very unlikely to reach the Long Night Emperor’s hands—they would surely be intercepted by Ji Tan along the way.

With external and internal threats, the pressure on Cao Yi was immense, as one could imagine.

Suddenly, Sikong Jing’s voice turned cold, ”The best option now might be to give up the Youyuan Twelve States and march back to the capital.”

Cao Yi trembled all over, then looked at Sikong Jing with a bitter smile, ”The Beigong Commander won’t agree.”

He said this but did not explain why the commander wouldn’t agree.

However, Sikong Jing’s heart was clear as a mirror. He knew deeply the loyalty of Beigong Xianfeng to the Long Night Empire and his care for the common people of the Long Night Empire. Beigong Xianfeng would never abandon the Youyuan Twelve States.

Thus, this plan was completely unfeasible.

And Sikong Jing harbored no discomfort in his heart about this; that was just the nature of Beigong Xianfeng, whom he deeply respected.

”Actually, if I were dead, there wouldn’t be any assassination.”

Just as the two of them were silent, the voice of Beigong Xianfeng suddenly came from the bed, still weak and hoarse.

The two of them trembled and rushed to his side.

Cao Yi offered all manner of comfort and warmth, while Sikong Jing directly checked his pulse to assess his condition.

Regrettably, Beigong Xianfeng’s condition had worsened than before.

”Ajing, I know my condition best. I won’t live past sunrise tomorrow.”

Beigong Xianfeng looked at Sikong Jing, still smiling calmly in the face of his impending death.

Then, he said deeply, ”Now, I have some matters to entrust.”

”First about the matter of the Youyuan Twelve States, I am reassured with you here, but... Ji Tan will definitely send a new commander.”

As he spoke, he deeply stared at Sikong Jing, ”They will certainly want to eliminate dissidents and will want to subdue you too. When that happens, just agree with them, for the sake of Youyuan Twelve States, for the Emperor I hope you can bear it for now.”

Sikong Jing remained silent... he really wasn’t accustomed to enduring.

Seeing the expression on Sikong Jing’s face, Beigong Xianfeng could only smile bitterly and then looked towards Cao Yi.

”You too, pretend you know nothing of Ji Tan’s wolfish ambitions, swear loyalty to him, and then look for an opportunity to secretly report his ambition and treason to the Emperor.”

”Remember not to act impulsively, otherwise many people will die.”

Upon saying this, Beigong Xianfeng turned his head again and looked at Sikong Jing.

”The second matter, I deceived Mo Ci by claiming that you agreed to go to the War Soul Dynasty to lead your family away from me and to assassinate Gongyang Ying... Mo Ci will definitely be waiting for you in the War Soul Dynasty, remember, you must not go.”

Upon hearing this, a glint flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes, yet he still gave no response.

”Right, Mo Ci also threatened that if I deceived her, she would kill my entire family...”

”Ajing, I ask you to let the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace protect my family.”

At the end, Beigong Xianfeng opened his cloudy old eyes and gazed deeply at Sikong Jing.

Sikong Jing suddenly looked up, his whole body trembling violently, and finally nodded heavily, feeling bound to protect Beigong Xianfeng’s family.

”Ajing, whether to endure is up to you,” he continued. ”You can resume your identity as Sikong Jing at any time and leave, but I ask you once more... no matter what the future holds, you must protect the Long Night Empire.”

Having said this, Beigong Xianfeng suddenly propped himself up.

He glared with his old eyes and said heavily, ”Ji Tan may die, but the bloodline of the Long Night must not end, this old man begs... thank you.”

As the final word ”thank” fell, Beigong Xianfeng lay back heavily on the bed, gradually losing his breath, his last thoughts still lingering on the Long Night Empire even as he drew his final breath.

”Commander!”

Cao Yi finally could not control himself, erupting in a cry as tears streamed down his face.

Sikong Jing clenched his fists tightly, his whole body shaking violently, his eyes reddening to the extreme.

All of a sudden, Sikong Jing shouted angrily at Beigong Xianfeng, ”Although I am considered a man of the Long Night Empire, I was born in the Canglong Small Domain, and from my childhood, I knew only the Canglong Small Domain; what do I care about the survival of the Long Night Empire?”

His voice made the entire room tremble.

In the midst of his breakdown, Cao Yi suddenly looked up, calling out incredulously, ”Sikong Jing, you...”

Then Sikong Jing charged forward again, grabbing Beigong Xianfeng’s body and shouting, ”I also don’t have the time or energy to guard your Long Night Empire, my future is not limited to the Long Night Empire.”

”So, damn it, wake up; protecting the Long Night Empire is your job!”

After he delivered these final words, Cao Yi regained control of his emotions and stared blankly at Sikong Jing, his face streaked with tears.

Sikong Jing shouted all this just trying to wake the Beigong Commander, but it was impossible now.

Suddenly, Sikong Jing turned back, eyes bloodshot, and said to Cao Yi, ”Vice Commander Cao, please leave now; I have to perform one last treatment on the Beigong Commander, and I want to make him come back to life.”

”Sikong Jing, I do not want and cannot allow anyone to die because of me, it can’t happen!”

His voice squeezed through his clenched teeth...

Cao Yi stared at him, bitter smiles streaming down his face, ”Brother Sikong, don’t be like this, the Beigong Commander has already...”

”Please leave,” he burst out.

A few words burst out, and Sikong Jing exuded an irrefutable dominance – a dominance Cao Yi had seen only in Beigong Xianfeng before; he was momentarily stunned.

Eventually, he nodded deeply, exited the room, and closed the door behind him.

Meanwhile, Sikong Jing slowly turned around, his eyes suddenly shifting from the madness of just moments ago to utter calmness and spoke in a low voice, ”Divine Turtle, no matter what, I must try.”

In the Ten Thousand Beasts Sky Prison, the Divine Turtle spoke, ”As the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts wishes.”

After that, the Divine Turtle congealed a drop of crystal clear water before its brow.

”Master of Ten Thousand Beasts, this drop is known as Xuanwu Spring.”

”It’s a drop from the Spirit Platform Sea of Consciousness within me, now stripped to its weakest state; once you absorb it, you must firmly guard your Spirit Platform Sea of Consciousness, or your Sea of Consciousness will also collapse and you will die.”

The moment the words fell, the Xuanwu Spring was expelled by the Divine Turtle, sliding out of the Ten Thousand Beasts Sky Prison and merging into the brow of Sikong Jing.
