Berserk God of War

Chapter 537: Chapter 537: New Commander Selection

Lu Lungan, upon hearing this, understood at once. To crush their Power of Anger, he had launched an all-out attack.

And this attack had been within the calculations of that little rascal from Dark Wings, used to his advantage.

He had even found the weakness in the War Soul Army that had been exposed after their aggressive attack, and thus they were besieged right down to the city walls.

It was a huge mistake in judgement on Lu Lungan’s part.

”Damn it, I will cut down that little rascal from Dark Wings!” Lu Lungan cursed repeatedly.

At this moment, everyone began to persuade him, ”Commander Lu, you cannot underestimate the enemy again. We must take every step with caution.”

Lu Lungan’s heart chilled, and he suppressed his anger as he nodded deeply.

On the other side, when the Long Night Empire Army returned, night had once again fallen, and Sikong Jing looked towards everyone and said coldly, ”Tomorrow morning, I will once again be at the gates of Netherworld City.”

No sooner had he spoken than the straightforward Wen Jun inquired, ”Dark Wings, didn’t you tell Lu Lungan it would be three days later?”

The corner of Sikong Jing’s mouth twisted into a wicked smile as he said coldly, ”Did I say it would be three days later just because I said so?”

”The battlefield is also a place of lies; there’s no need to speak the truth to the enemy.”

”And tomorrow morning, I won’t just be at the city’s gates, I want a million of the War Soul Dynasty’s Beast Blood Soldiers to die!”

As he finished, killing intent surged from Sikong Jing’s entire body...

All the Vice Commanders and strategists stared, their eyes wide with a mix of tension and anticipation, excitement, and disbelief.

Shortly after nightfall, a secret order suddenly issued from the mouth of Sikong Jing, and the Dark Wing Camp Soldiers, wearing masks, headed toward Netherworld State under the cover of the eerie night.

At that moment, Sikong Jing returned to the Dark Wing Camp to lead a nocturnal raid with the Dark Wing Soldiers.

At the same time, the Long Night Black Burning Army quietly began to move, while the regular soldiers did not stir, creating an appearance of celebration.

Atop Youye State City, Cao Yi remarked, ”One has to admit, the Dark Wing Commander has a command ability even better than the Beigong Commander’s.”

Wen Jun and the others fell silent but deeply agreed in their hearts.

”Cao Yi, word of the Commander’s death should have reached the Long Night Imperial City by now. What should we do now?”

A Vice Commander looked at Cao Yi, his face showing deep concern.

With heavy sincerity, Cao Yi said, ”I don’t know. The Beigong Commander had told Dark Wing to bide his time, but given his temperament, he could not possibly do so... It all depends on how he reacts at that time.”

”He will certainly have made arrangements.”

Hearing this, all the Vice Commanders exchanged glances and sighed inwardly.

Then another Vice Commander asked, ”Cao Yi, who exactly is the Dark Wing Commander?”

Cao Yi glanced at him, saying deeply, ”Don’t you already have the answer in your hearts? This answer is correct, but it must rot inside you. If you want to live, let it decay.”

”Even if you cannot hold it in, it’s not too late to speak out after Ji Tan has been executed by the Emperor.”

Everyone felt a chill in their hearts, and the name Sikong Jing surfaced in their minds.

The Vice Commanders all knew that the Dark Wing Black Burning Sword was created by Sikong Jing, and who else could the mysterious Dark Wing Commander be?

...

That same night, news of the Beigong Xianfeng’s death reached the Long Night Imperial City, and when Long Night Emperor, Ji Shengmang, heard the news,

he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood and collapsed to the floor.

With the urgent treatment of the Imperial Physician, he woke up and summoned the ministers to the palace overnight.

Inside the silent Ye Emperor Hall, Ji Shengmang spoke with a hoarse voice, ”Gentlemen, the Beigong Commander has been killed by the Wangyou Sect, and now the fate of the Youyuan Twelve States hangs by a thread. What proposals do you have?”

Next, the ministers began to discuss.

At the right moment, Ji Tan stepped forward and proposed that ”Prince Zhen Nan of the Long Night White Flame Army, Cheng Yusu,” be appointed the new commander of the Long Night Black Burning Army. He also suggested that he himself should go to the Youyuan Twelve States to retrieve the corpse of Beigong Xianfeng.

Only the presence of the Eldest Prince would be sufficient to show respect to Beigong Xianfeng.

This proposal was supported by the majority of the ministers of the Long Night, but with his mind in turmoil and fatigue, Emperor Ji Shengmang agreed.

Thus, he ordered Ji Tan to ensure that the body of Beigong Xianfeng was brought back to the Long Night Imperial City intact; the Long Night Empire would give him a grand funeral. As for the Wangyou Sect... naturally, the army would surround them first and ask questions later.

In any case, the most important thing now was that the Youyuan Twelve States must not be lost!

When Ji Tan returned home... Bang!

He violently shattered the table into pieces, his eyes flashing with cold light.

At this time, Yan Ruyu approached and asked, ”Your Highness, isn’t the plan going very smoothly? Why the anger?”

Ji Tan looked up and said coldly, ”Mo Ci didn’t kill thoroughly enough. The Black Burning Army’s communications said that Beigong Xianfeng was saved by the Dark Wing Commander and lived for another half a day... I’m afraid Mo Ci has betrayed me.”

He absolutely couldn’t let anyone find out that it was he who instigated Mo Ci to kill Beigong Xianfeng.

A chill ran through Yan Ruyu’s heart, and after thinking it over, she said, ”There’s no need to rush. Since the Black Burning Army has not reported this news, it means there’s not much of an issue, and even if the Dark Wing Commander knows, so what?”

”Now, all the intelligence networks of His Majesty are in your hands, Your Highness. Any communications from the Black Burning Army must go through you. As long as you go to the Youyuan Twelve States, you can deal with it calmly.”

”Those who need to be silenced will be silenced, and those who need to be forced into loyalty will pledge their loyalty... Their families are all in the Long Night Imperial City.”

With Yan Ruyu’s words, Ji Tan’s mood recovered considerably and he nodded firmly.

”Correct, on this trip, I will ensure that the entire Black Burning Army is loyal to me,” Ji Tan said with a glint in his eyes, ”My father still does not know that Cheng Yusu of the White Flame Army has also sided with me.”

As he spoke, he laughed ominously.

Thus, Ji Tan, not daring to delay, pretended there was an emergency and set off for the Youyuan Twelve States overnight.

He planned to meet up with Cheng Yusu in the Youyuan Twelve States and take control of the Long Night Black Burning Army in one fell swoop.

By then, with two of the Empire’s elite forces, both the Black Burning Army and the White Flame Army at his command, who would dare to challenge him?

...

Dawn broke, and Lu Lungan stared blankly at the Black Burning Army reappearing under Netherworld City, looking at the Beast Blood Soldiers who had been killed or injured in the millions in the night’s surprise attack, his face white as paper and lips trembling in fury.

At that moment, Sikong Jing stepped out with a great stride and laughed loudly, ”Lu Lungan, I am back again!”

A vice commander of the War Soul Dynasty couldn’t help but roar, ”Dark Wings brat, didn’t you say it would be three days later?”

”Deception is all part of warfare, don’t you understand?”

Sikong Jing shrugged his shoulders and laughed heartily, ”We’re heading back now, and I’ll come again in three days, hahaha.”

”Hahaha... we’ll come again in three days.”

The Long Night Black Burning Army erupted in roaring laughter, then at Sikong Jing’s command, they all turned and retreated.

Just as Sikong Jing turned, Lu Lungan, humiliated and irrational, bellowed, ”Kill them, I order you to kill them!”

Turning back, Sikong Jing’s eyes flashed coldly as he shouted to the Black Burning Army, ”Ninety-nine generals, heed my command, we will now join the ordinary soldiers in a pincer attack on the War Soul Dynasty Army in the middle.”

”The more you kill, the greater your reward!”

The ninety-nine generals of the Black Burning Army were seething with killing intent, each with a sinister smile on their face.

Above Youye State City, Cao Yi slowly ordered, ”Convey the command of the Dark Wing Commander, ordinary soldiers move out, pincer the War Soul Dynasty Army.”
