Berserk God of War

Chapter 529: Chapter 529: Dark Wing Camp, Duel with the War Soul Harvest Army

Indeed, as this command was issued, the gunners’ collective charge immediately caused an uproar within the War Soul Dynasty Army.

The soldiers at the very front were pierced by the lights of the guns, screaming incessantly.

”No, once the gunners step in, our Long Night Army will scatter; they’ll be crushed by the elite forces of the War Soul Dynasty.” Another Vice Commander spoke up in a low voice, not nearly as optimistic.

This kind of act, desperate to quench a thirst with poison, could very well lead to self-destruction.

However, Sikong Jing spoke up again, ”Issue Beigong Commander’s order, archers to fire in the Long Night Burning Formation: Flat Fire Formation, Flame Formation, Ghost Fire Formation - all three directions at once, no delay!”

With this command, streaks of arrows shot out in the three directions specified by Sikong Jing.

Those three directions were exactly where the Long Night Empire Army was most likely to collapse after the gunner’s charge, and Sikong Jing had accurately grasped them. After the simultaneous firing, it was possible to block the opponent’s charge from these three directions.

Thus allowing the Long Night Empire Army time to reorganize their formation.

After Sikong Jing became the Dark Wing Commander, he had obtained the Formation Manual of the Long Night Black Burning Army from Beigong Xianfeng.

That is to say, Sikong Jing had long since studied all the formations of the Long Night Black Burning Army; the formation that the Long Night Empire Army was displaying at the moment was precisely the Long Night Burning Formation, which Sikong Jing knew well.

But just after several volleys, Sikong Jing shouted again, ”Issue Beigong Commander’s order, change formation.”

”All 99 legions of the Long Night Black Burning Army are to disperse and transition to the Long Night Dance Burning Formation... During this period, archers should continue firing, Shield Soldiers defend, and gunners should charge a second round, toward the three aforementioned directions.”

Sikong Jing’s calm voice permeated the entire field.

After the first two rounds of attacks, the panic and confusion in the hearts of the warriors gradually calmed down.

And Sikong Jing’s voice, as if imbued with magic power, had the ability to soothe and steady them.

The change of formation began; the 99 legions suddenly started to move chaotically, Shield Soldiers moving while defending, and archers also moving as they shot their arrows.

But the gunners did not change; they charged in the three directions that Sikong Jing had just mentioned, continuing their assault.

However, their screams and cries of death kept rising.

These gunners seemed like moths to the flame, using their lives to halt the onslaught of the War Soul Dynasty Army, sustaining the change of formation, which resulted in countless casualties.

But an order is an order, even if they knew charging meant certain death, the gunners had to keep on.

The hot-tempered Vice Commander widened his eyes and couldn’t help but question again...

”What exactly is going on? Such a charge by the gunners will lead to their complete annihilation. If we lose the gunners, with what shall we continue to fight?”

”And dispersing all 99 legions; do you not realize that every one of those legions is a small entity in itself? Once scattered, while they may hold some strategic value, they are easily reduced to disarray.”

As he said this, the chest of this Vice Commander heaved with dissatisfaction toward Sikong Jing.

However, neither Sikong Jing nor Beigong Xianfeng paid him any attention.

The former did not want to bother, and the latter continued to ponder the purpose behind Sikong Jing’s orders.

But this time, Beigong Xianfeng could not figure it out...

Just as the fiery Vice Commander said, dispersing the 99 legions before changing formations could easily lead to complete disorder.

Yet even so, Beigong Xianfeng did not speak out to stop it; he allowed Sikong Jing free reign, still because of trust.

Suddenly, Sikong Jing shouted again, ”Sword Soldiers to replace gunners, charge on horseback...”

Another command that baffled everyone and seemed utterly illogical appeared.

The gunners exhaled in relief, no longer charging forward, while the Sword Soldiers mounted the Black Steeds and began to charge towards those three directions.

And it was at that moment, Sikong Jing suddenly looked towards Beigong Xianfeng and the other Vice Commanders, and said softly, ”I’m also going to enter the battlefield now. Before I return, no further movements are to be made.”

Having said that, before the others could react, Sikong Jing suddenly leaped off the city wall.

Within a few flashes, he had merged with the Black Burning Army on the battlefield and disappeared from sight!

Everyone paused in shock, and the irascible Vice Commander couldn’t help but roar, ”What on earth is he trying to do? Since when does a Commander rush into battle like this? Beigong Commander, I think...”

”Wen Jun, shut the hell up, or do you want me to really cut you down?” Beigong Xianfeng couldn’t help but raise his voice.

Then, cough cough cough... he spat out several mouthfuls of fresh blood.

The fiery-tempered Vice Commander, Wen Jun, was startled and rushed to support Beigong Xianfeng, patting his back continuously, but still couldn’t help but complain, ”Commander, this really isn’t the way to play.”

Slap!

Beigong Xianfeng, mustering all the strength in his body, slapped him, ”I told you to shut up. Don’t you understand the principle of trusting the ones you use?”

”Also, keep an eye on what the Dark Wing Commander is up to, and watch carefully.”

With that, his chest heaved violently. He had finally figured out what Sikong Jing was up to, but could it really succeed?

It was risky, but if it succeeded, it would definitely turn the tide of battle.

At this moment, on the walls opposite them.

Lu Lungan’s eyebrows furrowed deeply as he asked the person next to him, ”What the hell is Beigong Xianfeng doing? He’s disbanded the ninety-nine regiment formations of the Long Night Black Burning Army; this isn’t how one commits suicide.”

The advisors and Vice Commanders beside him frowned deeply, with one of them saying, ”Commander Lu, this doesn’t seem like a tactic Beigong Xianfeng would use.”

”Hmm?”

Lu Lungan raised an eyebrow and slowly scanned the battlefield, murmuring, ”Indeed, it doesn’t seem like it. But let’s wait and see. Perhaps Beigong Xianfeng has some trick or risky move. Alert all the soldiers to pay attention!”

His gaze swept coldly across the battlefield, and Lu Lungan always had a feeling that the enemy wanted to do something but didn’t know what exactly.

Suddenly, Sikong Jing’s low roar came from within the battlefield, ”By order of Beigong Commander, Sword Soldiers, dismount and return to the ranks!”

Upon hearing this, the Sword Soldiers who were charging in three different directions were startled and instinctively leaped high from their horses, abandoning them and returning to their ranks. Without their riders, the Black Steeds continued to charge forward, crashing violently into the three directions they had been facing.

In the midst of their frenzied horse slaughter, Sikong Jing shouted again, ”Dark Wing Camp Soldiers, follow me and kill!”

As his words fell, Sikong Jing’s figure flashed out from among the thousands of troops, and he was headed toward one of the three directions—the direction of the Ghost Fire Formation, facing the War Soul Harvest Army.

Following Sikong Jing’s emergence, Ning Jingjing and the other Dark Wing Camp Soldiers were filled with a surge of battle intent. They all took the opportunity to don their masks unnoticed, flashing out of the ranks following Sikong Jing.

”Kill!” they roared in low voices.

All of them were armed with swords; they were the very Sword Soldiers who had just abandoned their horses.

Because Sikong Jing’s previous command had been... Sword Soldiers, charge.

Therefore, they were all positioned near the vicinity of the three directions mentioned before. And because the 66th Army was located at the position of the Ghost Fire Formation, all the Dark Wing Camp Soldiers were gathered there.

The Sword Soldiers charged, dismounted in battle, and upon returning, they rejoined as Dark Wing Soldiers... This was the outcome of all Sikong Jing’s orders, and now was the final tactic, attacking by dismounting.

While the Black Steeds were charging and being slaughtered, they provided an additional screen for the Dark Wing Camp Soldiers.

They could emerge like eerie assassins from behind the Black Steeds, taking down a swath of War Soul Harvest Army soldiers with a preemptive strike.

”Dark Wing Black Burning Sword’s Shadow Flying Sword!”

Sikong Jing led the charge, and the moment he neared the slaughtered Black Steeds, he issued a command.

This time it was an order from him, the Dark Wing Commander himself; a series of bizarre sword lights immediately stabbed out from between the Black Steeds.

”Aaaaahhh...”

Screams echoed within the War Soul Harvest Army as one life after another was cut down by the Dark Wing Camp Soldiers. In a flash, they had claimed the lives of thousands, but it didn’t end there. After the initial assault of the Shadow Flying Swords, those who followed continued the onslaught.

Two hundred thousand men took turns thrusting out... Kill, kill, kill.
