Chapter 513: Chapter 513: Without Catching the Spy, One Cannot Convince the Masses

At this moment, Eldest Prince Ji Tan stepped forward and bowed, ”Father Emperor, the evidence against the Seventh Brother is very clear. Although it’s been less than half a year since Sikong Jing’s family left the Canglong Small Domain, it’s not impossible... because Ning Jingjing was pulling strings.”

Upon hearing this, Ji Ming couldn’t help but look at his elder brother in amazement...

He didn’t know why his brother was helping him, but for now, his words were very useful.

Ning Jingjing is a native of the Long Night Imperial City. If she had been a spy from the beginning, then it would make sense for her to connect Su Zhenglong’s family with espionage.

”Ning Jingjing couldn’t possibly be a spy,” Beigong Xianfeng said with a grim face.

Even in front of the Long Night Emperor, he remained seated, which showed the high status he held.

Ji Tan heard this and slightly smiled, replying gently, ”Of course, we trust the Old Commander Beigong, but we should summon Sikong Jing and Ning Jingjing to the palace and then get to the bottom of this.”

As the words fell, Ji Ming suddenly sneered, ”I’m afraid Sikong Jing won’t be able to enter the palace. He will surely die at the hands of Wangyou Sect.”

With that, he looked at Beigong Xianfeng with another sneer in his eyes.

You want to protect Sikong Jing, the genius of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, to bring him under your command using his relationship with Su Zhenglong’s family and Ning Jingjing, but he’s as good as dead!

If the Wangyou Sect Master has come to kill, what chances does he have of surviving?

Indeed, following Ji Ming’s words, Beigong Xianfeng’s body trembled violently, his eyes filled with anxious worry, and still no word from Sikong Jing. He didn’t know how the battle was faring between the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace and the Wangyou Sect.

All they knew now was that the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace had activated the Holy Dragon Formation...

”Report...”

Just as Ji Ming and Beigong Xianfeng were in contrasting moods, a long sound echoed in the Ye Emperor Hall.

A palace guard rushed in swiftly, knelt down, and reported to Emperor Ji Shengmang, ”Your Majesty, the battle between the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace and the Wangyou Sect has concluded.”

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone in the hall was greatly shaken and stared intently at the messenger.

Ji Ming couldn’t help but ask eagerly, ”Was the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace annihilated? Or did the Wangyou Sect spare the Saint Dragon Palace after killing Sikong Jing? Do we have any intelligence on why the Wangyou Sect wanted to kill Sikong Jing?”

A burst of rapid questions came out, Ji Ming’s eyes were full of arrogance and anticipation.

However, the messenger shook his head and still facing Emperor Ji Shengmang, reported, ”Your Majesty, the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace won... Apart from Sect Master Mo Ci who was severely wounded and fled, all members of the Wangyou Sect died within the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace.”

A buzz...

As soon as the messenger spoke, Ji Ming’s originally expecting face changed, his mind buzzing with disbelief.

Ignoring that the person seated at the head was his Father Emperor, he abruptly stood up and shouted loudly, ”Nonsense, what are you blabbering about? How could the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace possibly win, and how could the Sect Master of the Wangyou Sect possibly flee?”

Ji Ming couldn’t believe it. One side was just a minor Subacademy, while the other was the Sect Master of the Seven Sects and Five Sects, not on the same level at all. Even if the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace had the advantage of time, location, and people, they couldn’t possibly win.

”Ji Ming, shut your mouth and kneel down!”

The Long Night Emperor shouted sternly, and he, unbeknownst to everyone, had already stood up, his face also painted with shock.

He asked the messenger, ”What exactly happened?”

At this moment, everyone in the hall, including Beigong Xianfeng, including Eldest Prince Ji Tan, and including Imperial Guard Commander Huang Yu, all stood up and stared fixedly at the messenger.

No matter their attitude towards Sikong Jing, they all shared Ji Ming’s doubt, how on earth could the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace win?

The messenger replied quietly, ”Your Majesty, we are not clear about the specifics yet.”

”It’s said that the Palace Master of the Long Night Saint Dragon and the Master of Drunk Dragon Mountain returned, the two of them combined forces with the entire power of the Saint Dragon Palace to annihilate all members of the Wangyou Sect, severely injuring Mo Ci, who then fled.”

”The news is absolutely true,”

”Drunk Dragon Mountain Master, Tan Yue, is currently at the former site of Xingluo Palace, finding good wine, and getting utterly drunk,”

As the reporter spoke, everyone in the room exchanged glances, a single question in everyone’s mind.

How on earth did Long Night Saint Dragon Palace manage to do it?

”Impossible, it’s absolutely impossible.”

”It must be fake news released by the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace.”

Even though Ji Ming knelt down, he still shook his head vehemently, refusing to believe it was true.

”Repor—”

Suddenly, another drawn-out voice chimed in; a second reporter appeared, saying, ”Your Majesty, Ning Jingjing from the 66th Army of the Black Burning Army is outside the Imperial City with her troops, seeking an audience with Your Majesty, demanding justice from you.”

Upon hearing this, Beigong Xianfeng was stunned.

Ning Jingjing should have been taken to the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace by Sikong Jing. If she is returning now, doesn’t that confirm what the first reporter said—that the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace really won?

”Moreover, Ning Jingjing also says, she says...”

The second reporter hesitated to continue but, at the signal from Ji Shengmang, they spoke with emphasis: ”She also said, if the Seventh Prince dares, he should bring the Imperial Guard to the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace to capture the spies, guaranteeing the Seventh Prince... will not return!”

”If you go early enough, you might even enjoy the sight of the corpses of Wangyou Sect’s strong members.”

In an instant, everyone in the room gaped; Ning Jingjing’s words further confirmed what the first reporter had said.

Once more, people exchanged looks and finally, Ji Shengmang waved his hand, saying, ”Dismissed.”

The two reporters left the Ye Emperor Hall, and complete silence fell inside the grand hall. Kneeling Ji Ming, with a fierce expression, finally insisted vehemently, ”Father, Ning Jingjing is flouting the law, whether she’s a spy or not, she must be captured.”

”Also, Sikong Jing’s family, they are threatening you, Father.”

”He just assumes that you dare not arrest him—even if their family are spies and have Long Night Saint Dragon Palace as their backup, they can swagger around. This is a direct contempt of your authority, of the Long Night Imperial Family’s authority.”

At this point, Ji Ming called out again, ”We should take advantage of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace recuperating from the big battle to capture them directly.”

His voice echoed repeatedly in the hall.

At that moment, Ji Shengmang rubbed his aching head and suddenly turned to ask Ji Tan, ”What do you think?”

”Father, I believe that not capturing the spies will not convince the public.”

”Whether Sikong Jing’s family are spies or not, we must take them into custody for further investigation; otherwise, our Long Night Imperial Family will lose all credibility.”

”Of course, we can notify Sikong Jing to bring his family to surrender; that way, both sides save face.”

Ji Tan, compared to Ji Ming, seemed much more mature and prudent, his analysis methodical.

Hearing this suggestion, Ji Shengmang looked towards Beigong Xianfeng.

At this time, Beigong Xianfeng had gradually recovered from his shock and said, ”Your Majesty, this old servant concurs with the Eldest Prince’s suggestion.”

No matter what, it’s best for Sikong Jing to bring his family to prove their innocence, and now that the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace is so powerful, even if they can’t prove their innocence, they certainly won’t face any punishment—because the Long Night Imperial Family wouldn’t dare.

Ji Shengmang nodded and said, ”Alright, dispatch someone to the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace immediately, summon Sikong Jing’s family to the palace.”

An hour later, Ji Shengmang and everyone in the hall received Sikong Jing’s response. The reporter said that upon receiving the order, Sikong Jing had only given them two words: ”Too busy.”
