Chapter 528: Chapter 528 Sikong Jing, Temporary Commander

The crowd, upon hearing this, immediately fell silent.

Afterward, Beigong Xianfeng slowly said, ”The one who tried to kill me was Mo Ci from the Wangyou Sect. Someone had told her that I knew the whereabouts of Sikong Jing, the Chief disciple of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, forcing me to speak.”

All the Vice Commanders were profoundly shocked, and Cao Yi instinctively looked toward Sikong Jing.

Only he was aware that the Dark Wing Commander was Sikong Jing himself, while the other Vice Commanders might at most only suspect it.

But who indeed was aware that Beigong Commander was very familiar with Sikong Jing, and also let Mo Ci come here to interrogate?

Sikong Jing also had this question in his heart. In theory, the connection between Beigong Xianfeng and himself was only superficial; merely that his father-in-law was a member of the Long Night Black Burning Army and that he was friends with Ning Jingjing.

At most, it could be added that Beigong Xianfeng held him in high regard as the Chief of the Holy Dragon Palace.

”It was Eldest Prince Ji Tan...”

Just as he finished speaking, Beigong Xianfeng revealed the suspicion in everyone’s hearts, and they all widened their eyes.

”Ji Tan knew that half a month ago, Mo Ci attacked the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace aiming for Sikong Jing. That’s why he deliberately told Mo Ci that I knew Sikong Jing’s whereabouts, to use her to eliminate me.”

”Even when I made up a location for Sikong Jing and gained her trust, she still ended my life with a single sword thrust.”

”Had it not been for Dark Wings resurrecting me, I wouldn’t have made it back.”

As these words were spoken, several Vice Commanders stared wide-eyed, and a terrifying thought began to emerge.

At that moment, Sikong Jing spoke with a cold voice, ”Eldest Prince Ji Tan wants to ascend to the throne quickly, to dispose of the Emperor’s greatest aid, Beigong Commander, and he also wants to seize control of the Long Night Black Burning Army.”

Gulp...

The Vice Commanders swallowed, their minds reeling.

One with a fiery temper cursed, ”Ji Tan is utterly reckless, disregarding the lives and property of the common people of the Long Night Empire. Commander, let’s go back now and report to His Majesty, and execute Ji Tan!”

However, aside from him, everyone else fell silent, realizing it was futile to return. It wouldn’t be successful.

Ji Tan had too many excuses to use, and the most crucial point was that Beigong Xianfeng’s words were a one-sided claim, and Mo Ci certainly wouldn’t testify for him, leaving no outcome but a dead end.

Beigong Xianfeng grew weaker and weaker, his voice lowering as he said, ”First, keep quiet and let me finish speaking...”

”We should not worry about Ji Tan’s conspiracies for now. Our most important task at the moment is to hold off the War Soul Dynasty’s attack. We cannot allow them to defeat us, or else the consequences are unimaginable.”

”But I no longer have the strength to command the battle. So, from now on... Dark Wing Commander will command in my stead as the acting Commander.”

At these words, the Vice Commanders were violently shaken, and they looked at Sikong Jing with doubt.

And beneath the mask, Sikong Jing couldn’t help but flash a look of incredulity in his eyes.

”And you all must assist Dark Wings in winning this first battle.”

Beigong Xianfeng’s voice gradually rose, and he slowly scanned the Vice Commanders: ”I know you have doubts in your hearts, but I believe in Dark Wings’ abilities, and I will sit here and watch until the victory of the first battle is secured.”

After speaking, Beigong Xianfeng gazed intently at the Vice Commanders...

A few breaths later, Cao Yi was the first to step forward, holding his fists firmly as he said, ”Your subordinate obeys!”

Then, one after another, the Vice Commanders also finally said with fists held, ”Your subordinate, obeys!”

Finally, Beigong Xianfeng’s gaze fell on Sikong Jing, who also held his fist and said, ”Your subordinate will surely not fail the Commander’s expectations.”

Having said that, Sikong Jing turned around and went to the edge of the wall to look over the chaotic battlefield in the Youxue Plain. This was his first time commanding a war of such magnitude; the Canglong Small Domain had never had so many people.

The soldiers from the Canglong Small Domain weren’t nearly as strong, and he felt no nervousness, only excitement.

With just a few glances, Sikong Jing gained a preliminary understanding of the battle situation. Although Beigong Xianfeng’s return had stabilized the morale, the Long Night Empire Army was still struggling to hold its ground because it had been suppressed from the start.

There was always the possibility of collapse, especially with Beigong Xianfeng not re-emerging, the situation was even more dangerous.

If the front did not show itself again, the rallied spirits would gradually be worn away.

”Dark Wing Commander, is there a way to turn the tides of the battle?” At that moment, Cao Yi approached Sikong Jing and asked.

Sikong Jing pointed to a troop within the War Soul Dynasty Army that radiated various glows and roared constantly and asked Cao Yi, ”Vice Commander Cao, what is that troop? They look very formidable.”

Cao Yi promptly replied, ”The most terrible elite soldiers of the War Soul Dynasty, the War Soul Harvest Army.”

”Among the forces of the War Soul Dynasty, there are two elite groups. The first consists of Beast Blood Soldiers who have integrated demon beast essence blood through secret techniques...”

He paused, giving Sikong Jing a deep look. These Beast Blood Soldiers were Ji Ming’s creation, the Seven Wolf Guards, and now Sikong Jing also had a group under his command, the Absolute Night Wolf Guard.

”The second is the War Soul Harvest Army.”

”Similarly, by using ancient secret techniques, they draw the War Souls from the battlefield, thereby igniting the battle intent within them. Each soldier is of the Xuantian Realm, and each one can fight ten typical Xuantian elites.”

”However, the drawback is that they are few in number, much fewer than the Beast Blood Soldiers.”

With Cao Yi’s explanations, Sikong Jing understood clearly, he could see that there were about three hundred thousand of the War Soul Harvest Army.

After observing for a while, Sikong Jing spoke softly, ”The forces of both empires are equal, the strength is matched, but now, because we were suppressed and slaughtered at the beginning, our Long Night Empire Army is struggling at every step.”

”To reverse the tide of the battle, conventional means are impossible.”

”So now we have only one option, which is to... eliminate the War Soul Dynasty’s War Soul Harvest Army.”

As his words fell, Cao Yi’s eyes widened...

Just then, an unsatisfied voice sounded, ”We obviously understand this principle, but how do we eliminate them?”

”Hmph, we don’t have any troops that can directly confront them, and the War Soul Harvest Army is well-protected by various ordinary elite soldiers around them, it’s a pipe dream, simply impossible.”

The speaker was the same irritable Vice Commander, who clearly resented Sikong Jing’s appointment as the temporary commander.

Sikong Jing glanced at the Vice Commander lightly.

Then, ignoring him, he gave orders regarding the battlefield, ”Transmit Beigong Commander’s orders, Shield Soldiers fall back, gunners charge!”

As soon as he spoke, the hot-headed Vice Commander yelled, ”You’re insane, the Shield Soldiers... wuwuwu...”

Before he could finish, Cao Yi firmly clamped his mouth shut.

He then dragged the Vice Commander towards the back and in front of Beigong Xianfeng, speaking coldly, ”The Commander is watching, what are you shouting for?”

At that moment Beigong Xianfeng was very weak, but he glanced coldly at the Vice Commander and said, ”Do not question the orders of the Dark Wing Commander, those who defy will be executed... If we infight now, we’ll all die.”

After this, he closed his eyes, Sikong Jing’s orders flashing through his mind... the gunners taking the lead, what was he planning?

In the next instant, his eyes shot open, realizing what was happening.

Currently, on the battlefield, the Shield Soldiers were at the front in a defensive position while the gunners roved behind them. With Sikong Jing sending gunners out to switch from defense to a sudden attack, it was an unexpected strike.

After defending to the utmost, a sudden charge would inevitably catch the opponent off guard.
