Berserk God of War

Chapter 519: Chapter 519 He Dares Not

That is to say, with the presence of a Reverse Soul Realm Seven Symbols Heavenly Dragon.

The Long Night Saint Dragon Palace has already risen to become the first Martial Arts Force below the Seven Sects, Five Sects, and Three Academies, and any force wishing to attack them must prepare for a hard battle.

As for the Long Night Empire and the War Soul Dynasty, their strongest martial artists have only reached the Golden Body Realm.

Beigong Xianfeng, for example, is only at the Peak of Dao Inquiry.

”Old Commander, the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace is sacrificing its rook to save its king; they will surely become more and more terrifying.”

Ji Shengmang withdrew his gaze from Demon Dragon Valley, his tone grave.

After nodding, Beigong Xianfeng then shook his head and said lowly, ”Your Majesty, this isn’t abandonment but endurance!”

”This old servant believes that Sikong Jing will certainly return to the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace.”

Having said this, he thought of Su Yuexi’s performance just now. Clearly, expelling Sikong Jing was merely a temporary expedient for the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, and his wife was still under the protection of Shen Qingye.

This time, Beigong Xianfeng did not tell Ji Shengmang that Su Yuexi was Sikong Jing’s wife.

He feared that if the information got out, it would affect Sikong Jing, and someone might target Sikong Jing using Su Yuexi, so he deeply concealed it.

Soon, Drunk Dragon Mountain was reached.

And Sikong Jing, sure enough, was packing his things.

In front of the Drunk Dragon Mountain Hospital District, Sikong Jing, with the seven hundred Jueye Wolf Guards, smiled at the two men and said, ”Beigong Commander, you’ve arrived.”

After speaking, he looked at Ji Shengmang and greeted with a smile and a cupped fist, ”If I am not mistaken, this must be His Majesty, the Emperor of the Long Night Empire, right?”

There was no panic or dismay on his face, calm as before, without any awe or reverence.

Firstly, he had come out from the Canglong Small Domain and had no sense of belonging to the Long Night Empire.

Secondly, he had not received any support from Ji Shengmang in the matter of Ji Ming, and even though he could understand from Ji Shengmang’s point of view, he did not feel much agreement.

Lastly, he was the Master of Ten Thousand Beasts; who could make him feel reverence?

Ji Shengmang’s eyebrows slightly furrowed, staring intently at Sikong Jing for a long while before retracting his gaze and replying, ”Yes, it is indeed I. Regarding the matter of Ji Ming, I apologize to you.”

His tone still carried authority, but if any people of the Long Night Empire saw or heard this, they would probably be shocked to the core.

The mighty Long Night Emperor, actually apologizing to a young man!

”Your Majesty is too serious; the beheading of Ji Ming was apology enough.”

Sikong Jing laughed and then glanced around, ”I’m sorry, I’ve now been expelled from the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, so I’m unable to invite you two inside to sit down. Let’s discuss whatever matters we have right here.”

Upon hearing this, both men’s corners of the mouth twitched, finding his act quite convincing, as everyone knew he was just avoiding the brunt for the time being.

However, they did not expose him. At this point, Ji Shengmang spoke directly, ”Sikong Jing, I know you felt wronged back then, but you should not have killed Lu Ding. That could lead to great suffering for innocents.”

Ji Shengmang’s tone contained a hint of blame, as with Lu Ding’s death, troubles abounded.

And Sikong Jing was too ruthless, showing little regard for the lives of the common people; such behavior did not befit a good commander. Ji Shengmang still had the interests of the Long Night citizens at heart.

In response, Sikong Jing’s eyes narrowed slightly, and shaking his head, he laughed, ”Your Majesty being concerned for the common people of Long Night is touching to me, and now I can set out for the Long Night Empire with peace of mind.”

”Hmm?”

Ji Shengmang and Beigong Xianfeng fixed their gaze, full of confusion.

Then, Sikong Jing continued, ”Of course, I am aware of the consequences of beheading Lu Ding, but in fact, those consequences were already in play before his beheading, Your Majesty, Commander... take a look at this, will you?”

As he finished speaking, Sikong Jing handed over the war challenge brought by Lu Ding.

Taking it and looking it over, both men were greatly shaken and exclaimed in unison, ”A war challenge from the Youyuan Twelve States!”

Lu Ding had actually come to deliver a challenge to war.

”Yes, Lu Ding’s visit was still as an envoy of the War Soul Dynasty, to present a declaration of war to Your Majesty and the Long Night Empire, so whether he lives or dies will not change the inevitable outbreak of war between the two great empires.”

Pausing, Sikong Jing then emphatically added, ”That’s why I beheaded him.”

Sikong Jing was not cold-blooded, but since the war between the two countries was a foregone conclusion, Lu Ding’s death could not sway the outcome one way or another.

”As for the Holy Dragon General Academy...”

”The person was killed by me, Sikong Jing of the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, and the mastermind Ji Ming has also been executed. His Majesty has done what needed to be done. At most, the General Academy might utter some curses, but their real issue is with the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace and myself.”

”However, I have already been exiled.”

At this, Sikong Jing’s eyes narrowed again, ”And I will be, the Dark Wing Commander accompanying the Long Night Black Burning Army into battle.”

This was the final piece of Sikong Jing’s plan. After being expelled from the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, he disappeared.

He would wear a mask and appear on the battlefield as the identity of the Dark Wing Commander.

Ji Shengmang and Beigong Xianfeng exchanged glances.

They stared intently at Sikong Jing, realizing that beheading Lu Ding was not a sign of brutality and impulsiveness but part of an interlinked strategy.

He had laid out all his contingencies and thoroughly thought through all his steps.

Every move was part of his plan.

At this moment, in Ji Shengmang’s heart, Sikong Jing was no longer just a soldier with martial arts talent but a formidable figure.

Half a moment later, after exchanging a few words with Sikong Jing, Ji Shengmang left the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace. They had to immediately go back and make preparations for the war. As for Sikong Jing, of course, it was to do as he had said.

After leaving the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, he immediately joined the Dark Wing Camp to campaign in the Youyuan Twelve States for the Long Night Empire.

And the commander of this great battle would be Beigong Xianfeng.

Watching them depart, Lian Guang of the Absolute Night Wolf Guard approached and asked, ”Commander Sikong, although you are the chief of the Holy Dragon Palace’s academies, aren’t you afraid that His Majesty will harbor resentment due to your frank conversation with him?”

Just now, Lian Guang and all the other Absolute Night Wolf Guards were sweating for Sikong Jing—Commander Sikong showed too little regard for the Emperor.

After all, the Absolute Night Wolf Guards were originally soldiers of the Long Night Empire.

Even if they were now brimming with wolfish ferocity, they would still instinctively feel panic and fear in the presence of Ji Shengmang.

Sikong Jing just smiled and replied softly, ”He, dare not!”

Three words that left the Absolute Night Wolf Guards and others with their mouths agape. What wouldn’t the mighty Long Night Emperor dare to do?

From now on, you’ll just be a small commander general within the Long Night Black Burning Army, and it would be effortless for him to deal with you.

However, Sikong Jing did not explain, just maintaining a faint smile.

In a world where martial prowess was supreme, no matter how impressive the soldiers were, if a supreme warrior at the Martial Combat Stage or even above acted, entering the Imperial Palace to cut down Ji Shengmang would be as easy as taking something from one’s pocket.

As Ji Shengmang had to behave politely towards Shen Qingye, the Master of the Subacademy, so too would Sikong Jing’s future at least be at the level of Shen Qingye in Ji Shengmang’s eyes, and of course, he dare not hold a grudge.

...

Meanwhile, Ji Shengmang, on his way back to the Long Night Palace, said somberly, ”Old Commander, how should this Emperor treat Sikong Jing?”

Sikong Jing had killed his seventh son, Sikong Jing had not treated him with the reverence due an Emperor at all.

Even if Ji Shengmang continued to look at the bigger picture, he still harbored resentment.

Beigong Xianfeng took a deep breath and responded, ”Your Majesty, do as you see fit. As long as Sikong Jing does not harm the interests of the Long Night Empire, treat him as dear as a nephew, and he too will surely consider the Long Night Empire as his home, in time definitely becoming the National Guardian War God!”
