Berserk God of War

Chapter 514: Chapter 514: The City Besieges the Holy Dragon Palace

With two words spoken, the entire hall fell eerily silent, even Beigong Xianfeng was stunned.

Sikong Jing was perhaps too arrogant?

Finally, Ji Ming let out a long roar.

”Scoundrels, utterly lawless, blind to both the laws and the Long Night!”

”Father, I suggest we lead our troops to bombard the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace; otherwise, we will lose face across the entire East Plain Northern Land.”

Anger flickered in Ji Shengmang’s eyes as well, Sikong Jing and the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace had shown him too much disrespect, and he couldn’t help but glance at Beigong Xianfeng to his left—who would handle this situation now?

The Long Night Saint Dragon Palace had slain the intruders from Wangyou Sect, with Sect Master Mo Ci even fleeing in defeat.

Such strength and fearfulness posed a conundrum for Ji Shengmang, but if they did not investigate the spy issue thoroughly, as Ji Tan had said, they would lose face beyond redemption.

”Report...”

Before Beigong Xianfeng could think clearly, another long note was sounded.

An attendant rushed into the hall and announced, ”Your Majesty, a large crowd has gathered outside the Imperial City, all petitioning for the execution of Sikong Jing and his family.”

Upon hearing this, Ji Shengmang and Beigong Xianfeng were shaken to their core, instinctively exchanging a look.

Meanwhile, Ji Ming’s eyes gleamed as he sneered, ”Father, do you see? If we do not execute Sikong Jing, it will not appease the public outrages.”

”Report...”

”Your Majesty, many people in the Long Night Imperial City are gathering and heading towards the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, with the leaders saying they’ll wait outside the Holy Dragon Palace for Your Majesty to dispatch troops to capture Sikong Jing and his family.”

The reporter’s words left everyone dumbfounded—how could the situation be escalating like this?

But in the next moment, Ji Shengmang suddenly came to a realization, his gaze turning cold as he swept over the kneeling Ji Ming, before he ordered, ”Ji Tan, Huang Yu, go immediately to the outside of the Imperial City and pacify the people.”

The two exchanged a glance, nodded gravely, and left in response to the command.

Ji Shengmang’s gaze focused on Ji Ming as he said, ”Ji Ming, you may also step down for now, and await my orders at any time.”

However, Ji Ming was still disgruntled and cried out loud, ”Father, the will of the people is as weighty as the heavens, you cannot...”

”You, get out of here!”

Ji Shengmang, without letting him finish, suddenly blazed with fury and harshly interrupted, then Ji Ming could only retreat helplessly.

At this time, in the great hall, only Ji Shengmang and Beigong Xianfeng remained.

The former slowly started, ”Someone is deliberately instigating this, to use me to kill Sikong Jing and destroy the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace.”

As the ruler of a nation, Ji Shengmang had long seen through it all.

He was so angry precisely because he was being used, and was being forced to act against the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace!

”The one using me should be Ji Ming.”

”But aside from his decent Martial Arts Talent, that boy Ji Ming shouldn’t be so clever.”

Ji Shengmang thought about Ji Ming’s last performance, just a mess of muddiness.

Beigong Xianfeng clenched his fists tightly, the image of Yan Ruyu flashing in his mind as he responded, ”Seventh Prince has advisers at his side.”

Ji Ming was just a mess, but that didn’t mean he had no wise counsel around him.

Nodding, Ji Shengmang inquired with a frown, ”Old Commander, what do you think is best to do now? The evidence proving Sikong Jing a spy is clear, and the people of the Long Night Imperial City are also witnessing a public trial. This matter is difficult to handle.”

”Even if Sikong Jing and his family are not spies, if we don’t do something, we cannot calm the public’s indignation.”

Even if he felt extremely aggrieved, Ji Shengmang could only be used now, he had to comply with public opinion.

Beigong Xianfeng also furrowed his brows, perplexed at what to do about the situation.

Suddenly, as the image of Sikong Jing crossed his mind, he finally said, ”Regardless, I do not believe that Sikong Jing and his family are spies; Your Majesty should just dispatch the Seventh Prince and the Imperial City Guard to arrest them.”

At this moment, Beigong Xianfeng thought that Sikong Jing would definitely have a countermeasure; he was a man who valued affection and righteousness.

He would not let himself and Ning Jingjing be roasted on the fire.

”As for Ning Jingjing, don’t take her down just yet. Let’s wait for the results from Sikong Jing’s side,” Beigong Xianfeng said again.

Ji Shengmang sighed helplessly, ”It seems that we can only do this.”

Then, Beigong Xianfeng reminded, ”Your Majesty, if it turns out that the Seventh Prince framed Sikong Jing’s family, we must give Sikong Jing a satisfactory explanation. Otherwise, the Long Night Empire will lose a National Guardian War God.”

Upon hearing this, Ji Shengmang’s eyes shone with a sharp light as he nodded emphatically.

Beigong Xianfeng did not fail to tell anyone about everything related to Sikong Jing. He could not even keep the Long Night Emperor in the dark, whether it be the human-shaped demon beast or the Commander of the Dark Wing Camp; Ji Shengmang knew everything.

”Since the commander has such trust in Sikong Jing, let’s not hurry and wait a bit longer.”

With Ji Shengmang’s words, Beigong Xianfeng understood clearly...

The Emperor’s intention was to wait until the whole Long Night Imperial City was in complete turmoil.

Of course, this was also to build momentum for himself.

If by then Sikong Jing still couldn’t produce solid evidence to prove he was not a spy, the citizens of Long Night would become truly enraged, and there would be an excuse to forcefully attack the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace and take people by force.

Even if Shen Qingye later came to inquire and demand people, the Emperor could say that it was an act of desperation.

...

At dawn, in the Prince Mansion where Ji Ming was, he ”bang bang bang” knocked down many things.

”Why does the father trust that old fool, Beigong Xianfeng, so much?”

”Now the entire Long Night Imperial City is going mad, and the father still remains indifferent, even leaving Ning Jingjing free, damn it!”

Ji Ming cursed, furious.

However, at this time, the sound of rapid footsteps arose, and Yan Ruyu hurried in, saying, ”Your Highness...”

Slap!

Ji Ming, in a bad mood, slapped Yan Ruyu’s face, and she screamed, falling to the ground.

Then, Ji Ming’s cold gaze bore down.

”Yan Ruyu, where the hell did you go all night?”

”Do you not realize the situation I’m in? You’re going to ruin me. If the father listens to Beigong Xianfeng and endures, if the father decides to punish me, I’ll be finished, understand?”

”Didn’t you say your plan had no loopholes, so why is this happening now?”

With question after question spraying towards Yan Ruyu, bits of saliva washed her face.

At this moment, Yan Ruyu meekly said, ”Your Highness, this servant just went to the Peng Family. This servant spent the entire night with the Peng Family people instigating the citizens. It was this servant who asked the Peng Family to lead the people to cause an uproar at the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace.”

As soon as these words were spoken, Ji Ming froze, staring blankly at Yan Ruyu.

”This servant knows the mistake. I will go now to make the Peng Family stop inciting further,” said Yan Ruyu, turning to leave.

”Wait a moment...”

Ji Ming stopped her, and then swiftly embraced her from behind, planting kisses on her neck, saying, ”I apologize, my beauty, I misjudged you. I didn’t realize you had done so much.”

At this moment, with her back to Ji Ming, Yan Ruyu’s eyes gleamed with cold light, filled with killing intent.

But she still feigned a voice of aggrieved crying, shaking her head, ”This servant knows it’s because Your Highness is upset, this servant doesn’t blame Your Highness, but Your Highness must now keep your composure, waiting for enough people to gather before the Emperor can make a move.”

As she spoke, Yan Ruyu dispelled her killing intent and turned around, revealing Ji Shengmang’s concern to him.

That is, the Emperor could act without hesitation in taking people only when the entire Long Night Imperial City had erupted into complete turmoil.
