Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1533: Chapter 111: Goddess of the Sea or Broodmother?

Then Hill discovered where the anomaly originated from.

The life force of the Scaret People was indeed vanishing, but it was flowing toward the ocean.

No, it should be said, toward some giant creature within the ocean.

Their life force, more vigorous than ordinary people’s, was almost inseparably linked to this giant creature.

Much like... the legendary insect hives.

The insects exist relying on the hive, and after dying, they return their life force to the hive.

Doing this seemed harmless, but... the insects never question any decisions made by the insect mother within the hive.

No matter what they are asked to do, they will proceed without hesitation.

Even some gigantic insect hives in the cosmos, comparable to several universes, only a few elite insects have their own will as long as they do not violate the insect mother’s orders, while most have nothing but the desire to fight and devour.

The Scaret People are not that severe, but their feeling gives Hill a slight impression of... the legendary insect race.

He couldn’t help but furrow his brows, observing the direction of the dispersing life force... but found nothing.

It seemed as though once it entered the ocean, this life force would return to its true master.

Who would do such a thing?

Hill couldn’t understand... for the creature being treated as the insect mother, sacrificing a portion of life force now to double back in a hundred years seemed like a profitable venture.

But absorbing too much of this near-collapse, deathly-tainted life force, how much sanity would be left in that existence?

Chaotic beings playing this way all end up complete madmen.

At the end, still possessing a degree of sanity... Hill always remembered Coron once said the insect mother he had seen felt as if confronting the Abyss directly.

Though not as threatening, the form was strikingly similar.

If it were in a World Without Magic, that might be okay, but in a high magic Multi-Element Universe, her growing stronger would inevitably attract the Abyssal Will’s greed.

It would be quite the supplemental substance.

The demons would surely be willing to hold a grand ritual for the Abyssal Will.

Coron never liked meddling in others’ affairs, so he just left... exchange some God of Order, and they’d definitely try to find a way to kill them all.

So, Triton, is he also conducting some experiment in Aesces?

These deities... truly... leave one speechless.

Hill smoothed the wrinkles on his forehead with his fingers... had he not had a similar thought earlier?

But these deities truly make one want... to curse.

Where did Triton learn these methods from?

Wasn’t their God System always playing roughly?

You know, the Trojan Horse... such a scheme making both sides seem lacking a bit in intelligence, with Poseidon’s people as one of the main players.

Hill silently glanced at the ocean.

He rather wanted to know if Triton married back that Sea Queen from Aesces, hasn’t she appeared for a long time?

The feeling from the followers isn’t useful... if it truly were her, her followers would only feel their Main God’s power growing stronger, possibly even divine arts surpassing Triton’s priests!

Huh... Hill pondered for a moment, it might be best not to jump to conclusions.

Even if he thought there was an eighty percent probability his expectations were correct, what if... Triton still had a shred of character?

He’d wait for next time Aesces comes and ask if he’s ever seen the former Goddess of the Sea, now the Sea Queen, over the millennium.

Ah~

Hill blinked his eyes, if Triton’s promise to this Goddess was to let her possess power surpassing Aesces’ someday, her acting like a love-brain would be understandable!

After all, when beauties and power can be embraced together, someone will always be willing to give it a try, even at the expense of some evident authority.

As long as it’s in situations they feel... they can overturn at any time.

Hill’s eyes narrowed... what was that fluctuation at the end of the battlefield?

Water, endless water, what was it concealing?

A faint cold light emitted from his fingers, wrists, and between his eyebrows, as a rhombus ice crystal flew out from the pendant on his chest.

Water opened a passage before Hill’s eyes.

A luxurious giant ship appeared there.

The life force of the Scaret Warriors on board was thriving, but... each was also linked to the ocean.

The rumor about Scaret People being unable to stay away from the ocean for long or their powers would decline should be true.

The energy these warriors draw from the sea was white tinged with blue, carrying a slight chill... Hill recognized it as the purest Ocean Power from Aesces.

On the deck and within the cabins, there were dozens of life clusters not connected to the ocean.

The life force emanating from them fluctuated with varied shades of blue.

That is Triton’s divine power.

This guy... did he throw the lowest level warriors into Aesces’s ocean, while keeping the best for himself?

Although his style... is a bit surprisingly insidious, it really matches the style of their god system!

So greedy.

He didn’t let go of anyone slightly capable.

Aesces’s Goddess of the Sea has managed to hold on until now, thanks to Triton’s greed. Moreover, those born from their god system are almost always wary of the presence of a Goddess Queen.

He must ensure her power remains under his control and will definitely not let her bear children.

Hill withdrew his gaze.

It seems this time Scaret’s calculation wasn’t against the Danboro side, but against Eosca.

Their sacrifices are not small.

Although these warriors are on the verge of collapse, their numbers and combat power are not inferior.

It took a lot of effort for the Undead Tribe to defeat them.

Compared to fighting with the Moon Clan, it was much more exhausting.

Furthermore, seeing Finch and the members of the Alchemist Association all extremely excited, even the recently hidden Lucimar appeared... those large ships they dragged back are probably not simple.

Scaret people fought so bravely, yet didn’t even touch a single Danboro person... this kind of outcome leaves one wondering how their other ally, Eosca, is going to explain the Moon Clan’s extremely incompetent and... cold-blooded performance.

Quite a few Moon Clan members watched as the Scaret Navy was annihilated by the Undead Tribe, only to take advantage of the chaos to swim back to the island themselves.

This behavior, while understandable, left a bad taste.

Especially when everyone knows they won’t truly die.

If Eosca doesn’t have a perfect solution, his alliance with Triton is likely to completely disintegrate.

But, does he dare?

Without Triton’s power in the way, would you see a long dyke grow directly from Danboro’s coastline, connecting to Eosca Island!

Hill cocked his head and thought for a while... he couldn’t quite figure out why Triton bothered with this whole act.

Neither Eosca nor the Moon Clan have anything worth his while!

Until the next day, an area of Eosca Island closest to Basia City saw the emergence of a nautilus-shaped Sea God Temple.

Triton’s enormous mermaid tail extended from the spiral tail of the nautilus into the sea. Sitting on the tridacna throne, he was beaming through the gigantic crystal window at the front, proud and smug.

Most of the power originally belonging to Eosca himself on Eosca Island was now split half and half between him and the god.

Moreover, it’s likely that the Moon Clan could also become Triton’s followers at this moment.

Is that guy trying to test if the Moon Clan’s life force can connect with the suspected Goddess of the Sea by becoming Temple Warriors?

However, Hill feels Triton’s bigger goal might be to infuriate Aesces.

That smile becomes increasingly annoying the more you look... mischievous, full of provocation.

Hence, it’s understandable why countless earth dragons, twisting like worms, suddenly appeared along Basia City’s coast, seemingly wanting to completely bury this segment of the ocean.

It’s just... if he could shrink the area occupied by the ocean, why bother with his inland realm?

Hill’s mouth twitched slightly... suddenly realizing it might be because that sea goddess left part of her divine body deep in the sea and totally handed it over to Triton, making things exceptionally challenging for Aesces.

Hill abruptly closed his eyes, striving to recall the adorable and enthusiastic smile, the obedient demeanor of his little daughter... only Agleya could make him overlook the somewhat crazy sea gods outside.

He could accept chaos, but not madmen.

Hill used to think Ambori was already the lowest in terms of intelligence... but even the foolish Ambori didn’t send her divine body to others!

Otherwise, how could she escape Talos’s control so easily?

Hill ruffled his hair... Whether the sea goddess in Aesces’s domain was his sister or daughter, he felt a bit of sympathy for this World Master.

The deities born later in Teraxil might have deficiencies due to the world’s imperfections... although Aesces appeared intact on the surface, could he also be lacking something?

If not on the surface, could there be something missing in the Earth’s core?

Although he secretly scoffed and found the infuriated Aesces rather interesting, Hill still wrote his speculations on the letterhead Aesces left him.

Watching the paper gradually turn into a puff of smoke under sunlight and finally disappear like a miniature dust storm, Hill sighed quietly.

An evenly matched war is the best... of course, from the observer’s perspective.

At this point, not knowing what Rose intends to do, one cannot let Aesces weaken in his confrontation with Triton.

Moreover, even if he loses, what about the Undead Tribe?

If the energy he provides isn’t enough, would we have to rely on William for support?

That wouldn’t do.

With so much energy, why not use it to rebuild Teraxil and improve the homeland, right?
