Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1525: Chapter 103: Hill Shows No Mercy

’Snow Cloud Peak’ was silent for a few seconds before speaking: ”Try letting them know that a few of us are under Hill’s Magic Tower enjoying the scenery, and it seems like there’s something good... Then have someone who’s planted grass hang around after they descend the mountain and see if they’ll follow him down that path.”

Although ’Snow Cloud Peak’s words were unclear, ’Lu Huayu’ quickly understood what he intended: ”So, first see if they can spot our people and the bell talking, and then test if the bell appears when they follow behind?

It’s best to get it done in one go, otherwise, even I can’t manage to get so many people out.”

”Isn’t there that woman from Eden?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ raised an eyebrow, ”From her bitter tone, I know you’ve had quite a bit of dealing with her.”

”That, indeed... has nothing to do with me.” ’Lu Huayu’ lowered his head, skimming through the tablet, showing a plain yet sarcastic smile, ”She chose money between my humble servitude and a conceited playboy... but at their place, this momentary wavering doesn’t seem like a big deal.

So now, I’m an especially conservative Eastern gentleman, completely unable to accept that kind of indulgent view of love.”

His comments about letting his fiancée flirt with men and do bad things made the scene instantly freeze for a few seconds.

However, everyone understood that Road Eunuch always preferred the most convenient way to solve problems... shamelessness is nothing, just an exclamation!

”Well... that’s understandable,” said an Undead Tribe member, spreading his hands, ”Your boss plays with too many tricks, burning money and people.”

’Lu Huayu’ laughed: ”That’s true.

But really, it has saved me a lot of trouble, most of the women there can’t get past my boss.”

”Ah...” He picked up the tablet, looking puzzled, ”They can’t see.”

”What?”

”Even standing a meter away from our people, they can’t see him talking to the bell, nor can they see the road up the mountain.

No, he didn’t even feel where the people ahead disappeared... they’ve reached the cliff, still looking for people!” ’Lu Huayu’ raised his head in shock, ”How did Hill do it?”

”Looks like he didn’t come back empty-handed from Aesces!” ’Chattering’ suddenly laughed, ”This must be an illusion array~

Moreover, it can affect everyone who enters, allowing them to see different landscapes even when standing together.

Hill’s former formations were powerful, but not this delicate.

They were the kind that opened and closed grandly.”

He pointed outside at the scenery: ”Didn’t you notice? Before, he would definitely use trees as the array’s focus, and as the main carrier of energy.

But this time, he has used the simplest herbaceous plants to create a more complex array than before!

Impressive indeed.”

”So, it’s from the era of open and free usage of energy to the era of intricate machinery, right?” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ reached for a vine beside him, gently smelled its fragrance, then carefully picked a small flower.

”Let the alchemists from each family study the uses of these flowers... Direct consumption is certainly not the best approach.” He took out a palm-sized crystal box and placed the small flower inside, ”Those who aren’t busy should come daily to pick a flower.

Bring out our family funds, acquire some, and study them thoroughly.

’Chattering,’ make sure to inform those lifestyle merchants, until we figure out the best use of the flowers, they shouldn’t be sold.”

”Those merchants will certainly try to maximize their profits, they understand best how to hold back stock, I imagine they’ll soon spend money to acquire in large quantities.

Our research pace probably won’t be faster than theirs.

My concern lies elsewhere... what if Eden starts buying at high prices?” ’Chattering’ scratched his face, ”I suppose only the older folks really value family points, most people will exchange them for money.

With everyone picking a flower daily, surely someone will think the flower isn’t that important.”

”People depend on this for their livelihood, you guys do things driven by passion, you can only rely on luck... there’s no need to compete over this, just get some back for research.

If you can’t figure it out, buy it then!

With a large supply in our hands, they’ll be wary and won’t demand too high of a price.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ said indifferently, ”As for Eden... I doubt Hill will leave such a big loophole.

When you go back, why not test if those who didn’t plant grass can consume this flower.

For now, notify your family members, they can come here to enjoy the scenery and pick flowers!”

”Alright.”

However, the Undead Tribe soon discovered the oddities of these vine flowers... those who hadn’t planted grass felt nauseous upon eating this flower, not only was it useless, but it also caused them to lose health.

’Chattering’ and some lifestyle merchants tried brewing a potion using this small flower and specialized red-blue potion materials, no matter the efficacy, consuming them was akin to poisoning... and the potion became extremely unpalatable.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ was rather pleased with this result... only those who can acquire the flower from them can sell it, lifestyle merchants can’t demand particularly high prices.

The manual fee certainly won’t be low, but that’s what they deserve; who’s to blame for their own lack of ability?

Hill looked at the cliff with some surprise and sighed, ”Hill, you’ve matured a lot in handling things now!

If it were before, he would have set up a particularly tempting shop and then added a blacklist.”

Don’t mention the number problem, back during doomsday when their alliance joined forces, their numbers combined were more than all the Undead Tribe on Basia’s side.

”Now, he no longer uses time and interests in futile fights with others!” ’Perfect Bald’ couldn’t help but sigh, ”Moreover, this kind of punishment method makes people upset but not to the point of breaking off completely.”

After all, it’s just a special potion; most people, even when fighting to the death, can’t bear to consume a slightly more expensive Health Potion, let alone a single sip of a Mana Potion.

But the fact that others have it and you don’t can be very unsettling, especially when some can sell flowers for money every day... but that’s the result of not undertaking tasks.

It’s that feeling of ’Why didn’t I go?’ that always gnaws at people, especially seeing others... those they’re not convinced by... consuming potion after potion.

On ’Snow Cloud Peak’, it’s confirmed that this small flower that restores both mana and health has a particularly short cooldown time.

Experts in warfare like ’Perfect Bald’ can almost always maintain combat effectiveness before the potion runs out.

But with only 30,000 units produced daily, unless someone spends money like water, nobody would be willing to consume a heap at once.

This is a potion that can turn the tide at crucial moments; those without it can still buy similar things, but they’re just a bit pricier.

But they can take one portion every day, and even rest, play, date, and stroll in the Magic Tower.

Is this his way of retaliating because others are disgusting him?

The current Hill has indeed learned the art of psychological warfare!

Truly grown up.

The group exchanged glances and laughed simultaneously.

Then, they quickly discovered another benefit of Hill’s approach... those who tried to pass messages or deliver gifts to Hill on behalf of Miss Stelter couldn’t even catch a glimpse of the Magic Tower.

The morning Ellie discovered the Magic Tower was missing, she couldn’t control her anxious emotions... but she remembered Hill’s words and didn’t dare rush up the mountain herself... asking willing Undead to help deliver some gifts.

However, these people happily carried beautiful gifts to the foot of the mountain, only to stare at the crashing waves below the cliff in a daze.

Knowing full well that Hill was there, many people who went to watch the scenery and interact with small animals even said they saw Hill leisurely riding a horse on the lawn.

Sometimes, he would even smile at them!

Yet, those wishing to deliver gifts couldn’t even find where the road was!

The bell that could open the way... those familiar with Hill all knew it must be the Lily of the Valley, even if they searched every Windbell Grass, they couldn’t find a trace.

Ellie wasn’t a fool. After several attempts to have them deliver items only to be returned, her attitude changed immediately.

It’s not that she stopped seeing them, but she started treating things business-like... without official business, she’d turn and leave.

Then, one night, Ellie herself flew with the wind towards the Magic Tower that had disappeared from sight for a long time.

She actually understood that among the Undead Tribe’s flowers, some people can see the Great Sage Belfran, but these people rarely appear before her.

And those willing to interact with her couldn’t see the Great Sage.

So, the Great Sage merely hid his residence, without leaving.

Ellie knew she was taking a risk, but she didn’t plan to do anything... she just wanted to confirm that Mr. Belfran was still in Basia.

So... Ellie flew across the clouds, carefully searching the peak, silently praying: One word, just one word, as long as I know you are still here!

Hill certainly saw the girl flying back and forth in the clouds.

But he had no interest in playing out a melodrama with her.

Even if Ellie flew like a headless fly from midnight to dawn, he didn’t intend to say anything like ”Don’t come again, hurry back”.

Dislike was dislike, and he found Ellie’s apparently covert but obvious actions rather annoying.

Therefore, he didn’t plan to give this very disheveled girl any sort of out.

Why should he sacrifice his dignity to fulfill others?
