Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1524: Chapter 102: What Did Hill Do?

Hill was unconcerned with the unexpected Power of Destiny that arrived.

In fact, he’s encountered it before on Toril... when a person’s strength and presence reach a certain level, various threads of fate naturally entwine around them.

But as long as one’s will is firm and not swayed by temptation, there’s no impact.

However, some individuals with sufficiently strong spiritual power can perceive things related to themselves from within these strands of destiny... such as what benefits they might gain after taking action.

Thus, many archmages who have surpassed the legendary level get swept into the power of destiny because they lose control, tempted by certain things... Nonetheless, Elminster is estimated to be just wanting to join the fun, which is why he always manages to withdraw unscathed since he appears to participate but rarely acts himself.

After the fall of Black Eye, the mages who thought they were competent due to Midnight’s inadequate control, became somewhat arrogantly self-assured. It was then that Elminster started feeling bored with Toril and tended to stay for extended periods in the Stellar Realm.

Hill wouldn’t even bother glancing at those destinies... He never believed that these calculations could offer him what he desired.

Moreover, what else could he lack?

While he doesn’t completely disregard his luck when doing things, he only uses it for trivial matters like seeking resources, never pinning his fate on luck alone.

Hill softly smiled at the now-vacant cliffside, twisting his wrist.

The sky above the slope began to drizzle lightly.

As the rain soaked the earth, grass buds throughout the hill exploded through the soil, quickly stretching out... they varied greatly in type, yet were all intertwined in deep and light shades of blue and white, resembling the ocean beyond.

White and blue Windbell Grass also sprang up under the rain, halting their growth when they reached about a meter high.

On Hill’s finger, the transparent Crystal Flower Ring glittered with light... Under his command, the Windbell Grass uprooted themselves, found more suitable positions, and exuberantly took root to grow.

When the Water mist arose outside Hill’s Magic Tower, some of the Windbell Grass subtly grew taller again.

The two-meter-high Windbell Grass tangled its branches and leaves, forming labyrinthine paths on the slope.

The Horse King previously employed by Hill soon led its herd into this newly born land, followed by all sorts of birds and herbivores.

The night’s darkness was especially deep today, and the mist obscured everyone’s vision, so it wasn’t until the next sunrise that people noticed the dramatically altered cliffside.

Strangely, although the Windbell Grass at the foothill was merely two meters tall, it obscured the peak entirely from view.

”What has Hill done now?” ’Perfect Bald’ stood at the base of the peak, curiously peering upwards.

In front of them, amidst the towering Windbell Grass, lay a path only wide enough for three people to tread side by side, covered with grass and blooming with multicolored flowers... They had intentionally avoided planting on the paths.

Nevertheless, they couldn’t completely prevent someone lazy enough to dig a couple of holes at their feet when the overseers weren’t watching.

But most were diligent, so it wasn’t a big issue at the time.

”Oh...” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ thought for a moment, then straightforwardly decided to walk up the mountain, ”Why not just take a look?”

The others exchanged glances and, unable to suppress their curiosity, followed him up.

Yet, they had barely walked three meters along the path when a vine full of silver bells poked out from the Windbell Grass beside them: ”Where are you going?”

”To Hill’s Magic Tower.” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ raised an eyebrow.

”Okay, turn left.” The female voice from the silver bells was evidently spoken by some puppet, and sounded somewhat mechanical.

They walked curiously for a few steps and sure enough, encountered a fork in the road. They took the left path, and after some walking, noticed that the Windbell Grass on either side of the path wasn’t as tall anymore.

While on the grass on either side of the Windbell Grass, two small streams from the base of the Magic Tower babbled along, and various charming, cute, and magnificently pure animals frolicked happily.

Beside them, a pretty red pony was nibbling on grass, occasionally lifting its head to peer at these peculiar humans with its clear eyes full of curiosity.

Against the backdrop of white Windbell Grass, it appeared as fiery red as a flame.

”Oh~” ’Young Master’ sighed, ”This is truly...”

”The east wind turns the water green with uneven strokes, and a horse sings in flight drunken with the azure night.”

’Young Master,’ always poetic, didn’t surprise the others... yet everyone felt the beauty.

”Hill has always been a bit refined.” ’Perfect Bald’ pondered and offered an assessment.

At the top of this path, outside Hill’s Magic Tower, circled a set of buildings.

”Has Hill opened another shop?” ’Lu Huayu’ couldn’t contain her curiosity, ”And then checks the friendliness level...”

She muttered, ”As long as it’s effective, it doesn’t matter how many tricks there are!”

They quickened their pace up the hill.

Yet all they found were a few glass halls with long tables and sofas divided by vines adorned with tiny, adorable flowers.

They looked at each other and, not wanting to give up hope, sat on the sofas.

Nothing happened except for a faint fragrance in the hall.

”Hmm?” someone suddenly exclaimed after sitting for a bit, ”My stamina is recovering!

It’s speedy!

I might be full within an hour.”

They glanced over and saw it was ’Chattering’... as an Alchemist, he always began each day by using half his stamina to create potions.

The others quickly stood up and checked different spots in the hall.

”It’s silent here, the sofas can open for sleeping, and the mana bar recovers fast.” ’Young Master’ found, ”If lying on the sofas, the vines automatically surround you, preventing any disturbance.”

”Those facing the grass are in sightseeing mode and can’t be slept on.” ’Perfect Bald’ turned and noted.

”Ah...” ’Susu’ gasped softly, ”These little flowers are edible, each can be picked for a blood blue potion, but everyone can only pick one a day.”

”Oh...” ’Snow Cloud Peak’ contemplated, ”Find a way to bring people who didn’t work yesterday to visit without giving them any explanation.”

’Lu Huayu’ pulled out a tablet to type: ”I’ll do it, I know a few folks, if the message is vague enough, they’ll give it a try.”

After fifteen minutes, she raised her head in surprise: ”They didn’t see the bells and reached the cliff edge directly, to the point where we were about to jump off the wind!”
