Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1530: Chapter 108: The Tragedy of the Teraxil Elves

Hill didn’t think of insects for no reason.

Aesces’s approach to making the world increasingly arid, while indeed weakening the power of Water Deities, also harms nature, especially the flora and fauna that require water.

And in his past world, there has always been a saying: after a great drought, a great disaster follows.

Because of Aesces’s attributes, disasters like earthquakes are unlikely, but... insect plagues are prone to occur.

In the inertia of the Fantasy World, once an insect plague arises, it might attract the attention of the ancient Evil God, Worm Walker Kaiwos.

This ancient Evil God was imprisoned by the combined efforts of All Gods of the Multiverse because of a legend: When Kaiwos breaks free, he will propel and guide humanity towards the final era, the mysterious Era of the Worm.

Of course, Aesces understood what Hill was hinting, so he directly replied that there are scorpions in the desert.

And scorpions can definitely use worms and centipedes as food... which are the only two insects Kaiwos can control while still imprisoned.

He laughed with great pride: ”I’ve certainly prepared for this long ago.”

”Do scorpions not eat spiders?” Hill blinked, voicing his doubt.

Aesces’s laughter abruptly stopped: ”Scorpions can’t see Mutated Silk Spiders, nor perceive them; those things are another form of life, not flesh and blood.”

”So, in the desert now, there must be many Mutated Silk Spiders? Scorpions don’t eat Silk Spiders, yet they’re deadly poisonous to humans.” Hill pointedly questioned... otherwise, the Desert Kingdom wouldn’t have suddenly changed face.

”Damn Rose!” Aesces cursed softly, ”Even after the elves left, she won’t let me go!”

”Rose probably finds it strange too, why her Silk Spiders appeared so early,” Hill chuckled, ”and mutated so swiftly.

Thanks to your prompting the elves to move without hesitation, they ate plenty of Crystal Fruits!”

The living conditions over in Teraxil actually benefit Silk Spider growth more, but they didn’t mutate to survive in spirits.

Hill was confident about this, after all, due to Fran and William’s connection, he might possess the most comprehensive collection of Crystal Mystery in Teraxil.

The Saral Treasury’s millennium-old accumulation of Crystal Mystery was almost half moved away by him.

And those spirits, definitely had no issues.

Hill still felt a slight discordance from the Mutated Silk Spiders... like when he first arrived in Aesces and perceived that silk from the spiders, he felt a vague sense of aversion.

If it weren’t for mistakenly believing this was due to his dislike for Rose, he might have discovered those things were amiss earlier.

Hill naturally senses things that defy nature.

Aesces was left speechless by Hill’s taunting... After William learned of this world’s predicament, he naturally hurried to inform those who should know.

Teraxil’s Elf Deity System was in turmoil.

The Elven God King of Teraxil clung to the door of the Divine Kingdom, vomiting for three days with a lotus-tongue up to now.

Of course, the latest Elf Queen, most satisfying to the Elven God King and even witnessed by Coron, had also lost her life, and then the subsequent batch of elves were all controlled.

Yet many elves have no idea what happened.

Coron made another visit to Teraxil, dealing with his foolish son’s aftermath... the Elven God King had utterly collapsed, clueless on resolving the issue.

Yet his decision to kill all those elves elicited discontent from another Elf God... even Zholar, who daily cursed him, Coron never considered total extermination.

So, to avoid internal conflict among the Elf Deity System, the Elven God King reluctantly called upon his father once more.

Coron was summoned, and upon arrival, he confirmed with the Elven God King whether to use the second chance.

Aesces happened to have good luck, right as he was in Gerns discussing Undead Tribe matters with William, so he watched silently as William and the Night Goddess of Toril gestured at the giant screen in the sky.

The Elven God King almost howled at his father to act quickly... having married a Wax Melt Demon once was already an unbearable burden, and now this was worse; the newly crowned Queen, having just been chopped down by him, directly transformed into countless, barely visible tiny Silk Spiders, rushing into the Forest of the Elves.

Among those Silk Spiders, certainly, there was one controlling body... quite likely a new Spider Messenger created by Rose.

If not for being unable to abandon, he might even dare to burn his own World Tree spaceship.

Upon hearing about this from Aesces, Hill gained deeper insight into Coron’s character... if the Elven God King truly forgot to invite him, the Father of Elves might really choose to let go.

Until... either the Elven God King grows strong enough to withstand the disaster, or cries out again for rescue.

So back then, not-so-mature Elisui and Villon trusted Rose more, while their elder sister remained more detached... of course, one might say she was a bit more mature; she greatly respected Coron, but trusted neither parent.

This issue isn’t largely connected with Hill; his departure from Teraxil wasn’t long ago. Although this new Rose Messenger has begun to control the Forest of the Elves, there remains a Half-Elf Kingdom nearby, and the original elves aren’t very passive, so actions are still limited.

Especially some Elf Nobility... the former God Queen of Elves indeed played around with her family, but descendants with the Elven God King’s bloodline wouldn’t lose their lives because of their ancestor’s failure, at most expelled from the Royal Court.

But trying to win back these nobles with their own settlements, the Elf Queen hasn’t easily accomplished yet, having continuously strived to penetrate the original noble circle for decades.

Her truly trustworthy subordinates are naturally just her kind.

However, Teraxil’s Natural Will is evidently much stronger and more sensitive to evil forces than Aesces’s... their blood-problem elves have great difficulty in producing offspring.

Thus, Teraxil Elves have only suffered severe blows, not annihilation.

They find it hard to accept this situation... to build relations with the new Queen, most Elf Nobility even unwillingly entered marriage alliances with the Aesces Bloodline where she belongs.

Just like back in the day with the Moon Elves.

However, this time, what they faced wasn’t the kind, easy-going, naive and lax Moon Elves, but venomous spiders.

Every family suffered heavy losses.

After all, the elves sent out for marriage alliances all bore Silk Spiders within their bodies.

While Coron’s Divine Power descended, forcing all these Silk Spiders out of the body, capturing and killing them all... the Forest of the Elves, being the Elven God King’s semi-body, can still locate these foreign entities once outside elf protection.

Though he wasn’t too willing, as a silly son grown under the Father’s protection, the Elven God King understood it was best not to make trouble when Coron was already angry.

Despite not acting, he painstakingly searched for every Silk Spider in the forest.

Otherwise, Coron might really walk away, leaving him to catch and kill them one by one.

However, the birth of Silk Spiders naturally requires energy.

Those outside naturally rely on Crystal Fruits, those inside elves need the elves’ own bloodline power.

Rose truly is ruthless.

Every elf with Mutated Silk Spiders in their bodies not only suffered reduced lifespan but also faced great difficulty advancing to High-level.

Elves... seemingly immortal due to constant Level advancement.

If they remain perpetually Middle-Low Rank, their lifespan is merely 700-800 years at most.

This instance greatly diminished the strength of the Forest of the Elves.

Though Teraxil Elves wouldn’t offer their best offspring for alliances, they still choose relatively strong ones... otherwise, Moon Elves long ago wouldn’t have been deceived into such a mess.

Yet this repeated tactic resulted in an entirely opposite outcome.

The Half-Elf Kingdom, long oppressed by the Forest of the Elves, managed to persevere... particularly due to the failure of the former Elf Queen, they absorbed numerous escaping failures.

These elves, unable to survive within the Forest of the Elves, naturally had noteworthy abilities to escape.

This time, the Forest of the Elves has truly split into two parts.

Though all still venerate the Elven God King, elves no longer heed him as in the past.

Back in the day, Teraxil Elves could even abandon Coron, let alone a continually ditch-leading Elven God King!
