As Dean Duan read through Wu Ting’s resume, it was clear that Dean Xia and Professor Long were already familiar with it.

Seeing how composed the two of them were, Dean Duan chuckled.

”Just as I thought. You two already knew, didn’t you?”

”In that case, I won’t beat around the bush. In my opinion, with Director Wu’s skills and stature, having him just teach a pre-hospital emergency care course part-time would be a tremendous waste of his talent and influence.”

”I was initially concerned about Director Wu’s expertise in emergency medicine, but his first class is over now. Our students gave it high praise and are enthusiastically looking forward to his future lectures.”

”Given Director Wu’s well-rounded abilities and his position as an associate director, he’s more than qualified to be an associate professor in any of our departments—Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine, Pharmacy, or at the Medical Experiment Center.”

”Since Director Wu plans to invest in and build a pharmaceutical R&D lab and an animal experimentation lab, I propose we appoint him as the Honorary Deputy Director of our Medical Experiment Center and as an Associate Professor at Fan City University Medical College. After that, he can participate in teaching various relevant courses as his schedule and interest permit.”

Hearing Dean Duan’s direct proposal to appoint Wu Ting as the Honorary Deputy Director of the Medical Experiment Center and an Associate Professor at Fan City University Medical College, Professor Long and Dean Xia considered it for a moment and found the suggestion entirely reasonable.

”I agree with Dean Duan’s idea. Given Director Wu’s research achievements, clinical skills, and his contribution of funding two new labs for our Medical Experiment Center, offering him the positions of Honorary Deputy Director and Associate Professor is well-deserved.”

Professor Long said without a hint of hesitation.

Dean Xia voiced his agreement as well.

”I agree as well. Let’s have Professor Long formally propose it at this Friday’s faculty meeting. We can discuss it there and get it approved as quickly as possible.”

”As for the future plans for the Medical Experiment Center proposed by Guan Bao and Duan Xingping, we can begin to implement those gradually as well.”

”We can also start inviting other front-line clinical experts. Director Cui from the Jin Province Tumor Hospital is teaching a class today. We should monitor the feedback, and if the response is good, we can discuss a contract with him too.”

”Director Cui is quite senior and highly skilled in the field of emergency medicine.”

Having reached a consensus, the two deans and Professor Long decided to wait until after Friday’s faculty meeting to extend the formal invitation to Director Wu and discuss the specific details of the contract.

Just as they were about to adjourn,

Guan Bao called Professor Long.

At the same time, Duan Xingping called Dean Duan.

There was an emergency!

”Dean Duan, it’s an emergency! In Classroom 2 at the Medical Experiment Center, Teacher Fu was in the middle of her lecture. She choked on some water, coughed violently a few times, and then suddenly collapsed to the floor with acute abdominal pain. She’s bleeding... from her lower body!”

”Teacher Fu is pregnant, and the combination of extreme pain and blood loss has sent her into hypovolemic shock!”

”Director Guan and I are on the scene. The OB/GYN faculty have started emergency treatment and begun CPR, but the situation is unclear. We can’t get a diagnosis...”

Hearing that something had happened to Teacher Fu, the two deans and Professor Long were overcome with anxiety.

Teacher Fu’s situation was particularly sensitive. She was a faculty member at the Medical College and seven months pregnant. Her condition had been stable, so the administration had approved her to continue teaching. It was unthinkable that simply choking on water and coughing could lead to hypovolemic shock.

On top of her being pregnant, Teacher Fu was also the daughter of Fan City’s vice-mayor.

The stakes were incredibly high. The two deans and Professor Long all rushed toward the classroom in the Medical Experiment Center.

「Inside the classroom at the Medical Experiment Center.」

Because Teacher Fu was seven months pregnant, her condition was critical, and performing CPR in the standard position wasn’t ideal.

Dr. Xun from the OB/GYN department was trying to make a diagnosis. With the bleeding and uterine contractions, it was difficult to immediately differentiate this type of hemorrhagic abdominal pain from normal labor or a miscarriage.
