Chapter 375: Chapter 242: Perfect! University Lecture Debut, Part 2

These days, he rarely participated in clinical rescues at the Jin Province Tumor Hospital. His work was mostly administrative. He had also recently become the director of the residency training center at the Jin Province Tumor Hospital, where he would occasionally give lectures and shoot the breeze.

Of course, given his current status and position, he wasn’t going to personally create presentations or organize case files.

Director Cui directly assigned one of his graduate students to prepare the relevant training materials for him, which consisted of surgical videos from ordinary doctors in the department.

It was more than enough for a lecture, and the content was indeed solid and had genuine educational value.

However, Director Cui himself hadn’t put much thought into the presentation. He was getting old and had lost much of his passion. The whole lecture style was actually perfect for a university setting.

It was dry, tasteless, and flowed as blandly as water.

At Guan Bao’s request, Director Cui had his graduate student make some adjustments, hastily putting together a new presentation.

Of course, with Director Cui’s wealth of experience, handling a lecture at Fan City University Medical College was still a piece of cake.

Director Cui had agreed to Guan Bao’s invitation for his own ulterior motives.

He was getting on in years, and his hometown was Fan City.

As people get older, they start thinking about returning to their roots. So, he was also paving a path for his retirement—using this opportunity to gradually transition into a professorship at a university.

He could give some lectures at Fan City University Medical College and mentor some students. It would be relaxed and freeing.

His qualifications and resume were more than sufficient. He was only taking this on as a part-time role for now because he wasn’t ready to give up his position at the Jin Province Tumor Hospital. After all, the income and social influence of a major department director far surpassed that of a professor at a third-rate institution like Fan City University Medical College.

Back when Director Cui was in the emergency department, he had known Zhang Heng from Hepatic Tumor Surgery.

He had heard that Zhang Heng went to Fan City to advance his career and had already been promoted to chief physician in Hepatic and Biliary Surgery.

’How long has it been? It just goes to show you the standards at Fan City First Hospital.’

So this time, when Guan Bao mentioned he would be competing against a young deputy director from Fan City First Hospital’s Emergency Surgery department, Cui didn’t give it a second thought.

’I could crush him with an impromptu speech, without even using a presentation. My clinical experience is just too vast.’

...

...

「Fan City University Medical College.」

Graduate Student Women’s Dormitory.

Liao Rongrong was looking at the latest announcement from the college’s Medical Experiment Center.

”...To further enhance the comprehensive strength of the experiment center and reform the issue of practical training courses focusing too heavily on theoretical explanation, the Medical Experiment Center will begin to hire front-line clinical experts and professors from within the province to serve as lecturers for our practical training courses...”

”...According to the list of experts invited for the first phase, a pilot program will begin this coming Monday, starting with the simulated pre-hospital emergency care training room...”

”...The first phase’s invited expert, Monday’s course lecturer: Deputy Director Wu Ting, from the Emergency Surgery department of Fan City First Hospital...”

”...Wednesday’s course lecturer: Director Cui Donglin, from the Emergency Department of Jin Province Tumor Hospital...”

Reading the notice, Liao Rongrong felt a sense of anticipation. It seemed the Medical Experiment Center was finally undergoing a major reform.

Previously, the courses had always been taught by the college’s own professors. Pre-hospital emergency care was a subject that required extensive front-line clinical experience, but the college instructors had never truly been in the field. They just read from the textbook. The lectures were uninspired, and the students were utterly bored.

This time, they had actually invited front-line clinical experts. It was something to look forward to.

Especially the Wednesday lecturer—the director of the emergency department from a top-tier institution in Jin Province!

For graduates of Fan City University Medical College, it was virtually impossible to land a job at Jin Province Tumor Hospital after graduation. Even getting into City First Hospital was very difficult.

Therefore, in their eyes, Director Cui was an incredible expert. They were all full of anticipation and respect.

In comparison, the deputy director from Fan City First Hospital was lacking in every regard—background, ability, rank, and prestige. He wasn’t just a step below, but several.

The most puzzling part was that for this first round of lectures, the content for both speakers was nearly identical. Both were about pre-hospital emergency care, knowledge for ambulance situations, as well as emergency procedures for abdominal paracentesis and major hemorrhage from traumatic liver rupture.

Liao Rongrong felt a little bad for Director Wu from Fan City First Hospital.

’No wonder they scheduled Director Wu for Monday. If Director Cui went first, who would even bother attending Director Wu’s lecture?’

’Maybe the college wants Director Wu from Fan City First Hospital to be the warm-up act.’

Liao Rongrong was quite proactive about attending classes, so she decided to check out Director Wu’s lecture first and then attend Director Cui’s.

She wanted to compare the two doctors from such vastly different hospitals and see just how big the skill gap was.

After Liao Rongrong closed the announcement and started browsing the college’s online forum, she found some comments about the guest expert lectures.

One very popular post maliciously laid out some gossip: supposedly, this Director Wu from Fan City First Hospital had pulled some strings to get the lecture gig, and was just there to pad his resume.

In order to secure the teaching opportunity, he had supposedly paid a hefty price behind the scenes, offering to fund two practical training classrooms for the Medical Experiment Center.

Furthermore, the post claimed Director Wu had some kind of shady deal with the new director of the experiment center, Director Duan, and that Director Duan had specifically recommended and invited him.

The post even painted Guan Bao as an upright and incorruptible figure who had rejected Director Wu, forcing Wu to turn to the new Director Duan instead.
